I was sad that Philippe could not fulfil any media duties in the mixed zone at Murrayfield after the titanic struggle against Manchester United.
The reported reason was that he had no time to lose as he was due to be a guest at a wedding in his homeland.
Apparently, the rest of Sevco’s Continental contingent was also unavailable to share their thoughts on the friendly.
Consequently, Mr Alexander Scott Rae supplied the erudite analysis to the awaiting members of the Fitba Fourth Estate.
A cynic might conclude that the brethren in the Blue Room were rather relieved that Philippe wasn’t on hand to give his thoughts on what he had just witnessed.
Esepcially as the English media were part of the event, and clearly, they’re not aware of the succulent rules.
Of course, I couldn’t possibly comment.
If this offering from the fine fellows on the GersNet podcast is representative, then it isn’t certain that the Close Season Cup is heading to the building site that John Bown played for.
Frankly, they do seem rather down about things.
These observations from Tom English of the BBC on the lack of finance at Ibrox are also worth listening to (scroll to 08.00.).
[N.B the podcast was released on July 21st and is available for FIVE days]
It prompted me to make this observation on Twitter/X.
I do not doubt the veracity of Mr English’s source at Sevco when he was told that they could not “…go toe to toe financially with Celtic.”
That the Parkhead club had “a huge financial advantage” over their city neighbours.
This is entirely true.
However, it is usually a truth that dare not speak its name in the mainstream.
It is an entirely believable narrative that the Copland Stand clusterbùrach and the cost of renting Hampden has scuppered dear Philippe’s transfer budget.
That IS true, but it isn’t the whole story.
The reality is that already tight finances and the restrictions imposed by UEFA’s new FSR ordinances were in play long before the builders ran into a snag or two at Ibrox.
As ever, dear reader, it will be advisable to follow follow the money.
Remember that the rest of this transfer window will provide plenty of public data on the financial state of play at the twelve-year-old club.
The players in the departure lounge at Sevco are there because of the wages that they currently earn at the basket of assets and for no other reason.
This is definitely not what the brusque Belgian signed up for last October.
Should that not have read “financial shituation” 😆
Only if Sean Connery had written it!
Dynamo Kiev/Partizan Belgrade v The Rangers.
1st leg away ………
2nd leg is also away, 😉👍💚🍀
Precision engineering the irony is not lost on me
But does it matter if we don’t hammer home our advantage and improve our squad? Get the boot on their throat, and apply pressure!
Imagine being wee fergus McCann having watched how the last 3 decades have played out.
Proudly watching his masterplan being executed step by step.
The wee bunnetted man is immortal in my eyes
Spot on and you can bet that he would have finished the stadium building the capacity up to 80k in the 26 years since he left to further increase the gap the present board have gave us disco lights.
With *rankers being on the ropes financially then it shows the other teams aren’t bothering about finishing 2nd as they should all be going out and getting 2/3 decent players in to topple *rankers, especially Aberdeen, hibs and the diluted cousins. 🤨🤔
So how does the loving cup work? Do new managers have to have a swally from it. Seems a bit like the Dingles on Emmerdale drinking from a welly boot.
Gosh that subject change was a BBC. cover up at its most blatant. “ We are bit allowed to talk about difficulties at Rangers Corpoation police.” Not said but clearly implied.
