I’m told that the brogue-wearing bhikkhu of Ibrox was exceptionally tranquil about this offering from your humble correspondent.
Despite being at one with all living things, he couldn’t work out how that scéal could have reached me so quickly here in Dún na nGall.
Ah now…
Unsurprisingly, Sevco’s low-calorie cousins provided only token resistance to Dear Philippe and his Gumtree Galacticos last night.
I would wager that the affable Belgian and TavPen will have little difficulty until they visit the Champions on the 30th.
After that match, as the Dalai Lama of the Blue Room is well aware, is when the real issues begin.
The January window could provide invaluable public data on Sevco’s current finances.
Now, dear reader, for a bit of seasonal fun, let’s speculate that a series of high earners must be offloaded in the January window and that the current manager ( they do go through them like British Prime Ministers) has been made aware of that financial fact.
Imagine that list contains some guaranteed first-team starters.
Just for fun, imagine that Conor Goldson is on £37k per week.
Well, this type of steadfast defending doesn’t come cheap!

In this Christmas parlour game, let’s also pretend that Ben Davies is on £35k per week.
I know it’s ridiculous, but it’s fun on the long mid-winter nights.
Indeed, in this boardroom game for the entire family, Sevco’s entire back division has a weekly cost that dwarfs what Celtic pays for their defence.
Perhaps it is that quality that allows them to go SEVENTY matches in the league without conceding a penalty.

Impressive.
As I reported earlier, the Transcendental Chairman was remarkably serene when it was pointed out to him that it might have been a better course of action to stick with a manager who had won the Scottish Cup and got Sevco to their first-ever European final.
I was sad to see that the Conveyancing Consigliere at Ibrox is terminado.

His forensic abilities with commercial contracts certainly provided huge entertainment over the years.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Elite Sports litigation is still ongoing.
At times like this, those in leadership positions must rely on close advisors and respected grandees.
I suggest the Trancsnetdal Chairman turn to Mr John Greig CBE for some sage advice.

After all, it is well known within the corridors of Ibrox that the two men get on famously.

In the World of football transfers it takes two to tango and the two aforementioned defenders of the faith have another 2.5 years to run on their lucrative contracts. To maximise their earning potential they sit tight on the big bucks then leave on a free . As Morelos and Kent both knew that despite their ridiculous valuations from the SMSM there were no willing buyers . Goldson couldn’t even get an offer when his previous contract had almost expired and probably is still pinching himself that he was re-signed on even better terms than before. The only current player that could attract interest is Sima and he’s on loan . The best signing of all seems to be the one James Blair made with Elite Sports as it could terminate all their debt problems permanently
May I say Phil, that the Rangers spending ‘spree ‘ in January shall be determined by Celtic FC . If and when the tribute act lose the Glasgow derby on December 30th the league shall be effectively won by Celtic . So what would be the sense in splashing out ahem , millions of pounds on fresh meat ,when the Champions league new riches have been lost for another season ? Naturally the narrative from the adoring SMSM shall be of a smart powder dry keeping exercise until the Summer
If results go the way we hope and they crash out of Europe next week and then lose to us at the end of the month, their losses next year will be horrific even by their standards.
They will have to offload players in January.
If they don’t manage to do that then we can expect another share issue before January is out.
Who would want the players mentioned above especially if the wages quoted are correct: Goldson won’t get that wage elsewhere and Davies has barely kicked a ball in three and a half seasons.
They are already guaranteed European football after Christmas
A share issue is very unlikely unless they want UEFA down on them like a ton of bricks. That’s not football generated income. They could of course try to spin, that they’re raising funds for a stadium upgrade. Also, with Park no longer in the picture who would buy them?
They WON’T go out of Europe next week. They’re guaranteed the Europa Conference League.
