Just before he became immortal on that day in May 1967, the Celtic manager told his Bhoys that he wanted them to play in a style that would have the locals cheering for them.
Jock Stein understood that, as a football manager, he was in the entertainment business.
In a sense, so is Mr Beale.
His pressers are top quality.
Indeed, they often seem to verge on stream-of-consciousness stuff.
Now, this must be giving the PR folk at Sevco palpitations.
Today he had more gems for us.
He is fortunate that there isn’t a functioning Fourth Estate on Planet Fitba.
The journalistic focus should be to look at what is actually spent by the eleven-year-old club.
That will reveal where they are in financial terms.
It comes down to their cash flow situation and being on a UEFA FFP watchlist.
As I repeatedly have stated, follow follow the money.
Mr Beale shared some information that came as a shock to some dignified chaps on a message board of the same name.

The poor dears.
At least one chap appears to see the problem with Sevco’s rookie manager.

Well, if it looks like an amateur and talks in a presser like an amateur, it probably is…
The succulent chaps in the Stenography Corps are just hoping that he doesn’t fall on his face.
In fairness, they also do their bit to entertain us.

Now, here “being lined up” is doing an awful to of heavy lifting!
It is an unassailable assertion that the most important person at any football club should always be the manager.
That is why the era of Lawwellball was always going to crash and burn.
And it did.

When the victor in Stadio Nacional took the job, he insisted that he was in full control of all football matters.
The men in the Parkhead boardroom were wise to accede to his demands.
Ange would tolerate anything less.
The eight-year-old me was taken to my first Celtic match in 1966.
I’m as confident as I can be that Ange is our best manager since Jock Stein.
Consequently, when I think of the work experience chap across the city, I find it all highly entertaining.
I’m sure that Ange does too.

Yes, football is part of showbiz.
However, this today does seem to be on another level, and that isn’t a compliment.

Really?

When it comes to associations with bands/singers I think we should go for a link with Kylie. The Australian link but it also gives us a reason to belt out “I should be so lucky”
We should change to that from the Depeche Mode tune currently in favour.
I heard that The Animals ( we don’t care what the Animals say) were considered…until somebody reminded them that “The House of The Rising Sun” was their major hit.
Feck that they said.
The Giakoumakis saga is a strange one with people like Sutton and Hartson both saying they think it is a mistake to sell him.
I have a little theory , “little” being the operative word, so here it goes.
Bertie Auld told the story about the time he was “showboating” and at half-time Stein grabbed him by the neck and warned him not to disrespect his fellow professionals.
Celtic were struggling and Lennon put on Schved who then scored and turned the game around but he spent the next few minutes pointing to his name on the back of his shirt. The camera panned to the manager who was not best pleased and that was more or less the last we saw of the “hero”.
I love it but if there is one player who exudes arrogance then it is Giorgos and I wonder it it doesn’t sit well with the manager given the overload of politeness shown by the Japanese contingent.
Ok it is weak but it certainly can’t be about his lack of talent.
Some really funny comments. I didn’t know about the ACDC link up until today. This is marketing at it’s most desperate. Embarassing is not strong enough to describe this. Thank God I am a jungle Jim.
Motley Crue would be more fitting. I suppose If you can’t print confetti to pay the bills, you got to do something. With all that space at Ibrox they could take in washing, get those collars clean and staunch with a bluey whiteness and dried in the bitterness of Ibrox.. Over the last few weeks the amount of extra bullshit being generated by the Scottish press has been spectacular, the talk of imminent arrivals, and the efforts made to sell this ragtag lot have exceeded anything James Traynor envisage, and landing Beale even coined the term “Bealeball” before one was ever kicked in anger. Reading the Scottish press about them is like standing at the edge of loch watching someone drown and feeling happy with yourself that you didn’t have to do anything…
How about (un) Grateful Dead…?
In a way, its a shame that Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill are both Tims – SEVCO and SIMPLE MINDS would have been a match made in heaven!! 🤣
Loved it when they played there adverts read
“SIMPLE MINDS AT Ibrox” just had to agree
I believe AC/DC also wrote a song called It’s A Long Way To The Top. They also sang Shot Down In Flames, and the most apt one has to be RIFF RAFF!!
What’s their connection with Sevco …
The original line up of AC/DC are long gone.
They are now a tribute act living off the original bands history.
… the sevco marketing dept have not thought this through, have they.
If The Rangers bring out another ‘Collection’ with “The Grateful Dead” logo on the top,
I might be tempted to buy one myself !
🙂
Angus Young, the lead guitarist and the drummer are the only original members left. Angus and his brother Malcolm (rythym guitarist with the band before his death a few years back) were born in Glasgow and both supported Rangers.
Only a matter of time before there’s a tie-in with the BBC’s Only Fools And Horses!.. Trigger’s Broom springs to mind!! 🤣
Is the band involved in this?
Will Sevco now be known as the ‘ current buns’.
Should sevco now be known as the ‘current buns’.
What do AC/DC have to do with sevco?
Malcolm (rip) & Angus Young were/are fans of the defunct & new clubs.
Agree with your comment Phil re Ange and Big Jock. So many traits and similarities. Said after 3 months in the job that he could be a new Jock Stein. Especially loved the way he immediately sussed out our press. Think they’re actually scared to ask him a question now in case they get the mate treatment.
ANGRY CLUB DEID CLUB
SIMPLES 😉
Alternating Current/ Direct Current
Must be a new take on old co/new co.
what exactly is printed behind the AC/DC logo? As it is on the scarf as well – Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap??
Well, AC/DC had a song in 1976, called DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP…
Make of that what you will. 😉
The theme for the new AC/DC merchandise should be “Moneytalks”. It would explain so much of what happens – and doesn’t happen – across the city.
