This is a fascinating point in this archipelago’s history.
To look over the hedge at the neighbours is quite a thing.
A very strange vista indeed!
The folks who used to rule us here in Dún na nGall and, in a way, think that they still do.
But first, the Fitba:
At this sad time, my thoughts are with everyone at Sevco.
They have suffered a great loss recently.
Well, two, to be precise.
It was in keeping with Operation London Bridge that all the major sporting events in the UK would be cancelled this weekend.

On the positive side, it guarantees that Mr Gio’s charges will not drop any more points in the coming days.
It is saying something that the Odditorium that is Ibrox looks almost normal next to what has been unfolding across Britain since the death of the monarch was announced.
By this afternoon, my inbox was filling up with friends and colleagues in Britain who were reaching out regarding the death of their head of state.
It was clear they weren’t coping with the knowledge that this bizarre maudlin shite was just starting and had almost two weeks to run.
Meanwhile, in official Britain, there appears to be a competition to show who is the most grief-stricken. Phil Miller, the chief reporter @DeclassifiedUK, put it rather well:

Aidan Regan, an academic at University College Dublin, didn’t miss either:

So far, Ian Blackford MP is out in front in the Grieving Olympics.
Now, that is some top-class tartan grovelling right there!
Indeed, Blackford’s performance mourning moved a couple of Scottish pals to contact me about it today.
They were almost wailing in anguish at the utter self-abasement on show.
In a sense, they were going through a grieving process, but not for Frau Saxe-Coburg Gotha.
As I stated yesterday, an elderly person has died, and family members are bereaved.
That’s a private matter, and their loss is a genuine one.
However, there seems to be a state-enforced ordinance that everyone in Britain and their former colonies should be heartbroken.
Shrugging and saying that, for you, it’s no biggie seems to be officially verboten.
How will this sense of loss be assessed?
Will there be spot checks to see if grieving is within national guidelines?
How will it be enforced?
The Grief Police dismisseth us…

I’ve never been so grateful for box sets etc all since they came online. The hyperbole surrounding all of this shite is off the charts. Like you said Phil, family members will be bereaved of course. Does that mean I have to feign tears in the street for some auld wummin I didnae even know? Come on tae fuck folks!
I’m really struggling with this grieving and mourning business… pretty sure I’m not doing it right because the media overkill and the internets reaction to it had had me laughing so much it hurts.
Nationalist! My backside!
Fitba and hurses aff for subjects but rugger and cwicet on for Toffs and knobs you couldnae make it up
The staunch blue belters to the south of Falkirk, surprisingly, were well ahead of the game. While doing my foodbank delivery round late on Tuesday morning I clocked two flags at half mast in the middle of Avonbridge.
The relentless, sycophantic media coverage,
and the imposed ‘mourning period’,
could make the royal family even more unpopular than ever.
Apparently, as UK taxpayers we paid c.£44M for Harry & Meghan’s wedding. The costs of both a state funeral and a coronation will cost us considerably more – and during a cost of living crisis for the ‘commoners’.
Absolutely obscene.
You are absolutely bang on!!
For F-ck’s sake – Blackford is usually good at holding That Wastemonster / Westminster mob to account… that is one grovelling piece of bluster for sure…
As a massive SNP voter of long standing – maybe it’s time we started a Scottish Sinn Fein party !
Jeez even wee Clachnacuddin FC of The Highland League have been curtailed from playing after hitting a much needed fine bit of form too just like The Hoops…
The SPFL will of course resume when Sevco say so and their injured players are fit again…
And THE Rangers put out on the evening news that they held a minutes silence with all their teams at Mike Ashley’ training ground….they do know that they didn’t pay HMRC approx £78 million in taxes to her
Not my cup of tea, by any means. I largely share your view. Britain is certainly not Europe’s only constitutional monarchy. Does anyone have any perspective on how this compares with equivalent deaths in Spain, Belgium, Norway, Sweden…?
I suspect the Grief Police will be out in force again at her funeral. It’s been over 20 years since they intimidated shop owners to shut at the funeral of Princess Di. A funeral where she was carried on what would probably have been her last choice of transport to her rest. A gun carriage. How utterly horrible. So, as this funeral approaches the pressure will mount for businesses to close. I for one will be using the quiet streets as a chance for some safer road cycling.
As you say Phil, Old Lady dies at 96. A sad occasion for her family and friends but hardly an unexpected event. Let the family get on with their private grief and the rest of us can get on with our lives. Seeing them doing the expected rounds of flowers and meeting people who have nothing better to do than ghoulishly hang around outside the palace is a sad sight. Leave them alone to grieve. Death and grief is not a spectator sport.
I see the bastion of Royal reporting, The Daily Mail, had one reported suggest it is inconceivable that Uefa will not postpone sevco’s latest date for a thumping. How they must wish this unfortunate occasion will bring some respite to the weary sevco. With the Aberdeen off this could be 3 maulings in a row.
I’m glad to have streaming services because there is nothing else the TV outlets seem worthy of reporting. It’s compulsory grief. The kind we shake our heads at in places like North Korea.
Ikm away back into a darkened room. Someone let me know when life has returned to normal and I can venture out.

The organised royal hysteria is uncannily similiar to Kim Jong-il’s passing. There’s one difference though, the British have been doing Pomp-Porn for centuries. They’ll cherish every moment of this state orchestrated misery. It’s why the ghouls in grey suits have carefully prolonged it. Lunatics.
Thanks for the common sense Phil.
I was horrified at Ian Blackfords diatribe.I half expected to wake up from it any minute.Giving me the screamin abdabs already this.Like the whole country is on a collective acid trip
I know some of the Klan were frantically abusing the refresh button yesterday, not for news or to read notes of condolences but to raise awareness that Celtic had been the only club still to put a statement out. The peepel who loved her that much they with held PAYE and spent her passing day looking for outrage at the kaflix. That’s dignified respect in Britain for you.
And they laugh at the North Koreans whenever one of the Uhns kick the bucket world class pricks and that goes for Blackford and the rest of the plastic rebels 🍀🍀🍀🍀
You will probably find the viewing figures for this North Korean style propaganda will be low
As despite the best wishes of the media a huge swathe of people will just go about their normal business .
As not as many people as they believe are royalists .
Many have had their fill of what they see is a rotten corrupt institution who have robbed this country blind for centuries .
Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded .
Thrv SnP have always been grovelling pro royal scum
Well if they want to keep to keep it real just where is the two weeks special paid leave for everyone?
