August is not too early for dark imaginings from the Ibrox klanbase

Around this time last year, the illiterati of the Fitba Fourth Estate were quite sanguine that Celtic had no chance of winning the title.

It was a particularly toe-curling example of pishful thinking from the Stenography Corps.

The new guy in the home dugout at Parkhead checked his calendar last year and didn’t buy it.

He knew that he had time to turn it around.

Once more, Ange reminded the BBC guy today that it was still only August!

One game at a time, and the Never Stop diktat remains in place.

I thought it was a nice touch today by Sevco’s low-calorie cousins that they also ended their match with nine men.

Yesterday at Easter Road, there was no doubt that the crucial factor was Alfredo.

The flailing arm from the ample Colombian ensured Hibs would have the upper hand chasing an equaliser against nine men in Norwegian Blue.

In fairness, I was laughing too compañero!

This seems like a chap who doesn’t really see himself as part of the group anymore, and that will not go down well with the Ibrox klanbase.

In the last year of his contract, the striker has been the focus of some hugely imaginative stenography over the years.

However, it will take more than a fantasy bid from China to see him off the wage bill by this September.

For some reason, the Ibrox Herrenvolk find it much easier to blame the hapless Willie Collum and not Alfredo.

Now, for the avoidance of doubt, very few people in Scottish football rate him as a referee.

Regardless of their club allegiance, most fans in Scotland have a Willie Collum story.

Incompetence has no pattern.

Rather tragically, the guy IS trying his best.

Unsurprisingly his questionable level of competence wasn’t foremost in the minds of the toilet drinking classes after the match against Hibernian.

The post-match post-mortem by these chaps does not appear to be redolent of the Everyone Anyone campaign.

At times of stress, people truly reveal themselves.

That is especially true of The People.

Dear reader, they are worthy of our pity.

  1. Why are there no five stars anymore ?

Don’t expect the Scottish media to ask that one any time soon !

I’ve a copy of about 20 Scottish front page newspaper pics and headlines banded together when Rangers kicked the bucket – beautiful headlines they are… isn’t it amazing how the truth is beautiful indeed !

I got them enlarged and cut them out to pocket size – very useful evidence when the old club / new club comes up in topic…

In fact that copy is so very soothing, I think I’ll get it enlarged and framed on my wall !!!!

  2. It must be very confusing for the klan to have someone with a whistle at their mouth called William and he doesn’t see it their way, but that’s paranoia for you, next they will be looking for the VAR to be installed and calibrated by confirmed bluenoses who sing the sash before shaving in the morning.

As Ange says its only August and we all know it’s a long cold winter ahead, coming to think of cold I do hope the newest team in Scotland have the funds set aside to pay for the energy their old expensive floodlighting system uses, I would hate to see them in the dark before Celtic get to cast their shadow over them again this season.

El Tuballo, I can only assume by his portly/rotund frame that the gers intend selling him by the kilo, what a state for a professional footballer. You can already see the wheels turning against him in the Scottish media, I fear if he doesn’t sign for them it will not be long until someone down govan way brings up the fact he is a Catholic, attends mass every Sunday in secret, is probably related to the pope, has a shrine to the virgin Mary and tried to sign for Celtic… You have the feeling he will be leaving under a cloud, expunged from the all but brief history books and sent packing with some hearty loyalist threats ringing in his ears and not the hero.

  3. Last week after Rangers went top on account of them playing 1 day early. The BBC posted an article saying something along the lines of, it might be a bit early to look at tables BUT…look at rangers a the top, unbeaten

24 hours later, they went a bit quiet.

    7 days later, quieter still.

    What a disgustingly biased organisation.

Remember, this phoenix club build from the ashed of a club that went bust owing people 10s of millions and the BBC advertise them like they are the real deal.

  4. Now I can’t understand why all the press and pundits are saying Lundstum shouldn’t of been sent off, if we had VAR bla bla bla.
It’s a slide tackle from behind, that was outlawed in the mid 90’s.
I have to say collum is a shocking ref, he was shocking we he reffed our under 14 games back in the day and he’s not improved at all. He used to blow the wistle 10 mins early, give by kicks as goals and goals as by kicks. He was useless.
Can’t wait for PSV to skelp sevco before we abuse them at parkhead

  5. Indeed Phil, they may well ‘be worthy of our pity’; but truely, how many Celtic fans will feel even the slightest of pity for them?

I’m no statistician but I’d wager it probably works out in a ratio of literally, one in a million, if it’s even that.

Let’s see how little fall-out there is regarding the two sendings off for EACH team, sevco and wee Huns, because if it were Celtic that had two players dismissed it’d be all over front n back pages with the illiterati gleefully reporting it.

    • I believe that’s 8 red cards that the ample Colombian has picked up in his Rangers career.
No club is going to lay out millions for someone who cannot be trusted from the moment the ref starts the game till the final whistle.
He had already got away with backheeling a Hibee earlier in the game.
Van Bronkhurst will be having nightmares about whether to risk, big risk, the volatile Morelos in the upcoming game at Celtic Park where a defeat for the boys in blue will result in a significant points gap opening up so early in the season.
The CL tie this week becomes even more important for the Ibrox club as failure to progress to the Group Stage and a defeat to Celtic will spark a reaction, not a good one, from their fan base and bring huge pressure on the manager.

  6. As an avid Celtic man, I often find myself devilishly indulging in the pity and shameful excesses to be found on the ‘Follow Follow’ website. The tragic misfortune of the “People” is of great delight on occasions. In particular, the last few days of Willie Collum abuse have been tantalisingly sublime and indeed eye opening : For instance : Did you know he was a Nazi torturer at Treblinka ?, He assassinated JFK, He helped burn down the Hindenburg in1937 and he successfully stole over Two and a half Million Pounds in gold bullion in the great Train Robbery in 1963 ! He’s a very naughty boy !
