Unquestioned answers in the Blue Room

A fundamental task of any journalist in a presser should be questions answered, and answers questioned.

Of course, it is the latter that is really crucial to the functioning of the Fourth estate.

I was reminded of this when I saw Mr Ross Wilson (08.57  &  22.19) at the Mr Van Bronckhorst’s presser.

Here are the questions he should have subsequently been asked:

Which players?

Which clubs?

How much were the offers?

Regular readers will be fully aware that I have reported a very different narrative of the state of affairs within the Blue Room.

Players DO need to be sold, but there haven’t been any firm offers on the table.

For sure, there have been lots of interest from mystery clubs.

Remember this one?

Sevco players are constantly “linked” with interested clubs.

However, the actual transfer business out of Ibrox since the Off Licence Putsch of 2015 has been minimal.

Yet, the fact-free speculation continues in the media.

Just today, this arrived on my Twitter.

Of course, to get to the truth down Ibrox way, you have to follow follow the money.

That was true when I was reporting on the original club there, and it is definitely the case about Sevco.

The need to sell players was told to Mr Let’s Go the week before the annual accounts were published.

In an unconnected development, he then decided it was time to go.

Now Mr Van Bronckhorst has to contend with financial reality rather than the feel-good nonsense that was gobbled up by the assembled hacks.

For the avoidance of doubt, if journalists do not question answers, then they are merely stenographers.

  1. Mr. Wilson’s answers can best be described as ” non-answers “…
Or as its known in our house …”total waffle.”
And you are spot on Phil…
Any “journalist” worth his salt would have interrogated Mr. Wilson’s ” vague responses “…
    But hey…
    Its Scotland…Its Sevco…its S****

    • What planet is Ross Wilson on? He’s adamant that selling players in the January window will not happen, really?
He’s actually punting the line that the current board and other investors will step up to finance the current seasons £20m or more likely deficit on top of the previous financial year’s £20 million loss.
I use the term investors loosely, full in the knowledge that those currently draining their personal wealth are doing so without any chance of ever seeing their hard earned cash again.
Of course yet more confetti shares could be issued further devaluing the millions of shares already out there!
Perhaps I’ve been reading too much into the numbers with £100m plus of cumulative losses since the new club was born.
Even recent decent runs in Europe hasn’t resulted in a single financial year showing anything resembling a profit.
No doubt Wilson is closer to the numbers than we are but anyone claiming that a profit will be returned in the current financial year without moving 2 or 3 players on is ridiculous.
