When Mr David Cunningham King and his Concert party were victorious in the Off License Putsch of 2015, he brought in several organisational changes.
In doing so, he was assisted by a dynamic young chap; peace be upon him.
One of the things that emerged early on in the King reign was the creation of Club 1872.
A unifying voice for the fans and committed to increasing the shareholding in RIFC.
This Club 1872 statement from last month indicates how important they are to the cash flow situation at Sevco.
This piece in the Daily Radar has King fully in behind Club 1872 in the current dignified discourse.
As ever, there is a backstory to this.
I’m sure that regular readers will be fully aware that once Mr David Cunningham King left the big chair in the Blue Room, then Club 1872 was going to be a contested space.
It was almost inevitable.
Now things appear to be coming to a head, and it is starting to come out into the open.

The name rang a bell.
I had read about Reverend MacQuarrie during the Famine Song controversy in 2009.
This man of the cloth put forward the point of view in January 2009 that the Irish love song the Fields of Athenry was ” anti-British” and ipso facto “racist”.
Apparently, Tommy Sheridan singing the ballad on Celebrity Big Brother was verboten.
“This is an Irish rebel song and so the song should not be sung on television, or indeed anywhere,” said the Reverend.
For the avoidance of doubt, nothing ever came of this.
However, the Famine Song WAS ruled as racist later that year by the High Court in Edinburgh.
So Reverend MacQuarrie seems to be part of this spat in Club 1872.
A few days earlier, this appeared on the same dignified messageboard.

For the avoidance of doubt, I make no comment on the veracity or otherwise of these claims made on a quintessentially British messageboard.
However, that’s lots of dignified laundry in public, so why now?
Well, as with all matters Sevco, it is necessary to follow follow the money.
Essentially this is a battle for the fans cash.
Firstly, my understanding is that Dave wants his RIFC shares purchased by the supporters, ideally through Club 1872
However, the club itself needs that cash from their klanbase to pay back Mr King’s loan.
That money cannot be in two places at once.
See the problem?
Moreover, Mr King would REALLY like to have all of his assets out of the UK before the Ashley case might involve ring-fencing of Sevco’s season ticket cash pile.
Moreover, the usual route for a football club to get in cash is to sell players.
The chaps in the Blue Room are hoping for hefty fees for Glenn Kamara and Alfredo Morelos.
However, the Covid pandemic has created deflationary pressure across the football world, with only a few elite clubs not negatively impacted.
When the Revered MacQuarrie came across my Fenian radar over a dozen years ago, I decided that I would follow follow the money at Rangers.
It proved to be quite a journey!
Something tells me that there are a few more chapters of this Sevco saga before we can bring the curtain down on this iteration of the Ibrox sporting franchise.

Just a thought about upcoming games particularly those which will see some of the top liners coming to Glasgow such as Real Madrid and Arsenal for glamour friendlies at Ibrox.
In ordinary times the visitors would be encouraged with a large financial incentive to turn up and do their stuff. A guaranteed sum, no less.
Is this still the scenario during the pandemic ?
If so the Ibrox purse is going to take a substantial hit if a 2,000 attendance limit is still the order of the day.
Confused.
What did McQuarrie actually do?
King led a regime change that led to stopping ten. He delivered that part of his objectives as he and other directors put in millions of their own money. Of course he bends rules. But him making money out of Rangers fans is not an issue or a story… Fergus made 500% when he led a regime change at Celtic and is now a hero. Fergus achieved more overall but King is a hero In Rangers* fans eyes.
“bends rules” doing a lot of heavy lifting there.
He broke tax laws in South Africa. I have not seen any law he has broken while chairman of Rangers. Could shoulder was meaningless. Don’t get me wrong … I dislike him intensely but he has delivered THE one thing Rangers * fans wanted: Ten stopped and Celtic in disarray.
DK almost certainly working a scam to get his money back (including costs!) at a price nowhere near the value but retain control of the proxy. Glib and shameless right enough.
Maybe the man of the cloth left ,before he was asked for the truth
