The Snarlene and Dave show

These are glorious days for those of us in Ireland who prefer our schadenfreude in DUP flavour.

Firstly poor Snarlene was ousted as party leader by the dinosaur denying wing of her party.

Dear reader, this has given the politics of these islands a party leader who KNOWS that the earth is only 6000 years old.

For the avoidance of doubt, Mr OPoots does not believe in evolution.

I’ll just leave that there.

There is now a chasm in the main unionist party in Narne Arne to the point where the defeated wing might DO Walking Away.

There could be yet another schism in Unionism, splitting the vote even further.

Luvvly jubbly.

I wonder what Sevco’s PR superhero DUPman makes of it all?

Just like in his party, there is certainly a split between the chaps in the Blue Room and their erstwhile chairman at the moment.

As ever with Sevco, we have to Follow Follow the money.

The dispute essentially comes down to whether or not the fans give their money to the club or to Mr King.

Despite the magic trick of a club being liquidated in 2012 but somehow not dying it is an undeniable fact that a fiver can only be in one place at a time.

If the supporters give their cash to Sevco, then it will only rest in the club account for a short while before it heads to Johannesburg.

That is how the chaps in the Blue Room intend to pay off the King loan.

Of course, that means that the South African based convicted criminal will still own his RIFC shareholding.

With the Sports Direct case edging closer, the prospect of Sevco’s funds being ring-fenced before his loan is paid is an appalling vista for Mr King.

However, if Dave gets his way, then the fans will buy his shares, and he will still be owed money by the club for his loan.

That much I DO know.

What I do NOT know is whether or not the King loan is secured against anything.

Now, merely speculation on my part, but I do not think that the ex-Sevco chairman would lend millions to such a financial basket case without some form of security.

I was told a few days ago to expect some pro-King briefing in the media.

A Jambo buddy of mine sent me this today.

You can read it here.

It is undeniable that the fans give most of the credit for stopping the Ten to Mr King’s stewardship of the club.

There is more than an element of truth in this.

It was he who ousted Ashley’s men in 2015, and it was he who brought in Steven Gerrard and his excellent backroom team from Liverpool.

The nightmare scenario of the Sevco High Command is that Dave sells his shareholding to the fans, and then they are maxed out.

That would mean that the new share issue could fall flat and they do not have the money to pay back the King loan.

Therefore there is a briefing war going on with the fans as the target audience of both sides.

So the Stenography Corps are in the invidious positions of receiving briefings from the King faction and the Sevco High Command.

Therefore, please spare a thought for DUPman as his workplace will seem rather like his native Narne Arne at the moment.

Fortunately, the local media know the rules and will not go near this story.

  1. The irony is not lost on me. A man who does not believe in dinosaurs, leading a party of……….well…….dinosaurs.

  2. You say that a fiver can only be in one place at a time, well it may be a world record, a world first but perhaps this whole shit show was in fact an experiment in quantum accounting, where the club, company thingy was both solvent and insolvent at the same time and that the said fiver can be both there in the accounts or not there in the accounts. Simple really.

  3. Bless the children of the blue-nosed clowns for they are the ones who will go without while their fathers feed the pockets of a convicted criminal. HH

    • The main Sports Direct case is likely to trudge through the courts for a considerable time yet.
That is normal in these complicated contractual disputes.
