Something highly significant happened in Edinburgh yesterday.
The Ibrox klanbase was discussed as a serious social problem.
Even more encouraging was the fact that the term “anti-Irish racism” was mentioned several times.
James Dornan MSP should take a bow.

His urgent question was timely and relevant.
For the avoidance of doubt, you cannot deal with a problem until you identify it and then call it out.
That process has now begun.
So yesterday was a good day.
The Ibrox klanbase has been put on notice.
Their day is coming to an end.
Amazingly, in the aftermath of the carnage in George Square, someone within klanAnon thought it a fabulous idea to threaten Cabinet Secretary Humza Yousaf.

Dear reader, that is the default position of the Ibrox klanbase
Threatened and smear.
Threaten and smear.
Rinse and repeat.
Your humble correspondent has been on the receiving end of this since 2008.
The objective was to remove me from the stage.
I started with reporting on the Famine Song, a new addition to the Ibrox songsheet.
Given that you are reading this in 2021 would indicate that the klan failed.
However, they succeeded with others.
The shameful truth is that chaps on the sports desks have been cowed into silence for generations about the true nature of the Ibrox matchday experience.
In being quietly compliant, they write permission slips for the fascist underclass who get their fix of anti-Irish racism there.
So there was never any genuine challenge from the Fitba Fourth estate to what everyone knew about Ibrox.
However, the digital revolution allowed this Samizdat to appear in 2008.
The archive on this site from then until now would hint at a certain persistency.
Sure, even these fellas are onside now.

That’s a big change since 2008.
Once again, it is all detailed in the archive of this site.
The simple truth is that a Scotland where the multi-generational Irish community enjoyed full recognition and respect is an existential threat to the ugly uber Britishness of the Ibrox klanbase.
They define themselves by what they hate.
So Scotland now stands at a crossroads.
Kenmure Street or George Square.
Which?

It cannot be both.
Yesterday the elected representatives of the people of Scotland called time on the Ibrox klanbase.
The new parliament now has a five-year term to put the necessary changes in place.
I wish them well.
We all should.

Compare and contrast. Estimated 80,000 Celtic fans went to Seville, 3 arrests on the day before the match, none on match day.
The people of Seville welcomed us with open arms and the fans responded in kind.
No riots, no clashes with Porto fans and hey ho UEFA and FIFA honoured the fans behaviour with rarely given awards.
Meanwhile back in Glasgow…….
Oh and the marching season is just about on us again where the anti Catholic and anti Irish hatred will be paraded through the streets of Glasgow and other venues with the full approval of local councils and politicians.
They’re not the people
After viewing and listening to the pretendy gers players allegedly singing FTP several times, I wonder if the word Pope had been changed to Allah would everyone in authority sit up, take notice and actually do something. The klan and their sectarianism and xenophobia isn’t a new problem, it’s just been swept under the carpet because no one knows how to socialise the antisocial.
However, the bigots played their joker when they left my city looking like the remnants of a war torn country. Urinating and defecating in the streets, maiming Police and each other and ignoring the social-distancing rules during a pandemic. Their time is up. HH
Im glad that there seems to be a change of heart with the scottish Parliament, but sadly and i got not unexpectedly, the SFA trotted out the usual tripe yesterday with their quote about “secarianism” in scottish football and society. i fear that things wont change in football until those in charge of the game in this country own up to the problem in their own ranks. its almost like the national association is like the lodges that the klan base learn the material.
I have an theory regarding the influence the orange lodge has on the Klan, each chapter is a localised militia holding platoon nights and other educational activities, it’s almost as though the chapters were formed just incase there was another Jacobite rebellion, so they could rally aggressive militias to quash the rising, why would oldco and sevco have ‘ready’ on their badges…..just a thought
George Square and Kabul or Baghdad are night and day to these “defenders of the crown”.
Yes Phil, the first step was the recognition of the problem and calling it exactly what it is, racism.
My only hope is that it doesn’t prove to be a false dawn, eg.racism in 60’s Black America, because there have been several false dawns since then. Early this morning Peter Lawwell’s car being petrol bombed outside his front door and the flames spread to the house where he and his family were asleep. That’s a symptom of the many problems with the klan that need addressing and fast. That tweet you posted about the klan bringing Glasgow City Centre to a standstill indicates where that deluded mindset is headed; and quite frankly that is very, very concerning. I do hope that this proves to be a true turning point and something actually gets done and it’s not just another example that is assigned to the annals of history.
I’m of a mind that, IF you get sevco under control, ie. obeying all rules n regs same as everyone else, without exception, then their ‘fans’ just might follow that example. Maybe, I’m too hopeful.
New governing body would be a start…
Cheers🍻
Good news indeed. Just hope Mhairi, or someone with similar views in the SNP doesn’t manage to get it all swept back under the carpet by getting it dismissed as “plastic” anti-Irish racism. Did she ever get back to you when you called her out over her “Plastic Paddies” nonsense, by the way, Phil?
No.
I never did receive a reply after her office manager wrote to me to confirm that a copy of “Minority Reporter” had arrived and that the MP had taken it home to read it.
After that, I put in some formal questions to her office which were ignored.
We moved down to England from Coatbridge when I was a kid in the 70s and my kids were born down here too. I wonder how Mhairi and her SNP thinkalikes on matters Irish would react to us and people like us being dismissed as “plastic Jocks”, or whatever moronic moniker your average gammon flavoured Ingerlund nationalist might throw at us.
Highland toffee flavoured Nationalists might once have labelled your family turncoat for deserting the homeland in favour of the gammon flavour 🤷🏻♂️
I’d be interested to know how confident you are that this is, indeed, a watershed moment or will it just be marched into the long grass and placed on the ‘too difficult’ pile. I fear that, for all of the words of condemnation, there is neither the will nor the ability to address the matter and take the actions necessary to cut this off at its roots.
They’ll pay lip service to the idea but ultimately nothing will change. Until both the Orange Order and Freemasonary are made illegal (very unlikely) it’ll be more of the same.
Neither Kenmuir St or George sq. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Both wrong, but one obviously in a different league.
