Eddie Howe

If the scuttlebutt is correct, then Eddie Howe will be announced as Celtic manager on Tuesday morning to the Stock Exchange.

I’m told that he was shown around Paradise and Lennox town yesterday.

So that looks like a done deal.

If he does come in, then he will almost certainly insist that his right-hand guy   Jason Tindall comes north with him.

Although he currently a coach with Sheffield United, the lure of working with his main man again might be too much to resist.

Could Peter Grant also be in the mix?

I’m told that there’s a connection to Howe’s playing days.

So what out for that one.

If it is Eddie Howe, will he get his guy  David Webb as Director of Football?

Until now, Fergal Harkin was the favourite for that job.

We’ll see.

One of the things that came out of the Desmond ordered management review was that there was a serious disconnect between the various department heads at Celtic.

So it would make sense for Howe to get his own guy in charge of recruitment.

It would be hard to underestimate the size of the rebuild that is required at Celtic this summer.

Of course, this will have to be fully funded as there is an automatic place in the Champions  League Group Stage up for grabs in season 2022-2023.

Consequently, austerity won’t cut it.

So, is this the astute tactical mind to lead Celtic next season?

A new era and all that…

  1. Have posted many times, there is a fine line between spending large sums for Europe ( that Celtic or Sevco will have little chance of winning ) and filling the team with big money players to win a league full of mickey mouse teams.
Europe is a dream long gone for Scottish teams as they only want huge clubs involved ( TV and advertising drives that ) therefore why waste huge sums to win a league, you could win with half the costs.
Are we heading back to the days of two teams trying to outspend each other to win a diddy league?

  2. This Lad has been Lauded by every corner of the Football Circle [sic] for his technique and vision (Ronny Deila you star) apart from the hard to please Celtic support. Personally as an old and often subjective fan I’m going 100% with this.
