As much as I try, I cannot get exercised about whether or not Celtic players will give Sevco a guard of honour on Sunday.
However, there are real things to be angry about on Planet Fitba at the moment.
The super spreader disorder has, unsurprisingly, been the subject of succulent mitigation on the sports desks.
Along the lines of “it was wrong BUT…!”
Well, in a pandemic, when it comes to breaking lockdown rules on an industrial scale, there is no BUT.
Now, in an entirely unconnected development, there is a spike in infection rates in Glasgow and the west.

Who could have foreseen that?
Well, anyone with even average intelligence.
I do realise that, almost at a stroke, it wipes out most of the Stenography Corps.
Of course, there are excellent journalists in Scotland who have a functioning moral compass.
Here is one of them:

In these islands, we are now dealing with a new strain of Covid19 that is akin to an entirely new virus.
The B117 variant is much more transmissible and has a higher fatality rate.
For the chaps on the sports desks, allow me to translate:
It is easier to catch, and it kills more people!
Rather appropriately, it was first identified in the UK, so it was the British variant that the Ibrox klanbase were spreading among themselves at George Square.
This statement is redolent of an alt-right remake of “The Life of Brian”.

The popular front for the liberation of Ibrox does not seem to have received the memo that the planet is in a health emergency.
The super spreader disorder in Glasgow was also a massive failure of policing.

For comparison, Celtic won the Scottish Cup last year, beating Hearts on penalties.
It was the final part of the historic Quadruple Treble.

A domestic feat that will probably never be equalled by any future version of Rangers
Even if there was some future iteration of the Ibrox franchise that never paid another penny in tax and players had multiple side letters.
Winning four consecutive trebles is almost too much to take in, but Celtic did it.
Moreover, amid a winter of discontent for the green half of Glasgow, there were no scenes of disorder at George Square and certainly no police escort.
The difference?
Well, I think that the lack of a Herrenvolk sense of entitlement and the absence of a benevolent nod from Good Ol Boy coppers might be the reason.
I very rarely ask anything of my readers.
However, next weekend, please stay at home and stay safe.
Don’t’ be like the disease spreaders of George Square,
For the avoidance of doubt, shame on them and the media shills who scribble excuses for them.
Now, dear reader the Word Mines beckon once again.

This is what an almost finished manuscript looks like.
You just might be holding the finished product in your hands this summer.

New book soon, braw!
It’s hard to condemn Sevco fans for celebrating without also condemning the vigil in London for a murdered woman. Both governments have allowed these and take as much of the blame for letting them get out of hand. You have seem the uproar ( even in parliament ) about the police trying to break up the vigil and how it quickly got out of hand. How many police do you think they should have employed to make arrests and break up the Sevco mob? There is two sides to this and yes they should not have gathered in the first place but can you seriously believe Celtic fans would not have celebrated had they won the 10?
It’s easy to sit on you high horse when it’s the Sevco mob eh?
I also notice posts in the ” Kind hearts and corner kicks ” piece have not been posted, posts that point out you censor things that go against you agenda with regard the Covid lies. People are not dropping like flies and 99.9% that catch it recover with no ill effects.
UK governments are desperate for people to get tested as this is the means they use to fool the public into thinking this is a plague, it’s not. The number of people who have died DUE to Covid are very, very small and are generally old and have underlying health problems. The numbers quoted in the MSM are people who died WITH Covid ( if you believe the MSM about anything.) These are two very different criteria.
Oh dear…
James Thomas you are bonkets.
What hallucinatory drugs you on mate?
It is not hard to condemn the Sevco fans and your question on how Celtic fans would have behaved had they won ‘the 10’ is a red herring to suit your irrelevant conclusion
You also claim that people who died due to Covid are much fewer than people who died with Covid. People with underlying health conditions and those who were old would have lived longer if it were not for Covid. Are the remaining months or years those people had not precious? Do they not matter? Something gets us all in the end but the 146,487 (and counting) who died with Covid died when they did due to Covid and my heart goes out to them all and their families and friends, especially those who were unable to attend the funerals because of the current rules on gatherings.
These rules, whether we argree with them or not, are designed to protect those most vulnerable and they were flagrantly and shamelessly ignored by the football supporters in Glasgow and those in Clapham Common. Shame on them all.
Hail Glorious Saint Patrick
Safely
And Brendan Rodgers wants to give Sevco a guard of honour,!!!!!! Unbelievable that he can say that fter running away from the battle with Mr lets go.
Yeah, he ran away from Gerrard to pit his wits against Pep, Klopp, Mourinho, Ancelotti etc.
Sometimes, I think, we get the dross we deserve listening to the stupidity of some fans.
point scoring over a virus that has killed hundreds of thousands of people
I was outside after Ross County game
The idea that was only a few fans is a slur on our support.
You backed a loser in Lennon mate.
We won’t mention our great support outside Hampden for the quadruple before game
The gatherings after Ross County and the Cup Final (unprecedented Quadruple Treble not simply 1 league title, lest we forget), were much smaller, hundreds not thousands.
They were also, by and large, peaceful but were still met with hostile policing.
Compare and contrast with last weekend’s, essentially, Bigotfest, which was enabled and gladhanded by one set of boys in blue to another, despite widespread disorder, vandalism, racism etc all sealed with a loving cup of kisses (thankfully air ones) to superspread a virus, which was stupid in the extreme to every sensible person.
Guard of “honour” = no season ticket money from me.
Yes. The huns covered themselves in glory yet again; pishing on the very monuments they swore to guard and protect last year, desecrating and destroying memorials to dead loved ones, and jeopardising the lives of countless innocent people, ably assisted by Police Scotland and enabled and excused by the caponised Scoddish meeja.
A permanent embarrassment and these days a permanent disgrace.
Scotland’s Shame indeed; a description that applies not only to ra peepul but also to the agencies previously mentioned.
Polis Scotland, what can you say, SFA. You look at the English polis, they waded in to a group of women, rightly protesting a vile murder of a young woman, by one of their own polis colleagues.
Keep at them Phil

I’m similarly unexercised about the Guard of Honour media created controversy.
As a matter of interest, 2 years ago Celtic won the league at Aberdeen and in the next game played at Ibrox, so was there a GoH?
I genuinely don’t know the answer but it may help those who are exercised when looking for a precedent.
I personally don’t think the game will go ahead…
The ‘peepul’ will have another ‘unplanned’ get together (sash bash) at their ancestral home on Thursday evening and the government risk threshold will have been crossed.
I wouldn’t be too disappointed if this happens. At least Celtic supporters won’t be involved… although I wouldn’t put it past the usual media suspects to try and drag our name into it.
The stupidity of the sevco fans was expected, what’s the point of winning a league and not being able to show off.
The Celtic fans on the other hand were quite content with 9iar and quadruple treble without feeling compelled to spread the virus.
Just a different class of person.
The ibrox club , staff and players should be utterly ashamed, they stirred this up , got the fans wound up, puting their right to gloat over people’s safety.
And the Scottish media are not even worth talking about they are lower than the club and their fans.
Can you please hold off blaming outside meetups for spreading the disease when previous studies suggest they are not a key vector. Until we are sure of the cause of the increase in infections this type of baseless speculation is not helpful.
Good luck with finishing your new book Phil,as far as the super spreaders go well; you reap what you sow, don’t like to see anyone ill but they had no regard for anyone’s safety, everyone/anyone.
Also still waiting for Police charges to be made and the football ‘authorities’ have yet to show their hand too; as in what do they have to say about the klubs operatives(sg&staff) seemingly rousing the already illegal crowd into a frenzy and in general ‘partying’ with them during a pandemic lockdown.
Oh wait! Maybe I’m expecting the aforementioned to do their jobs and surely that’s just too much? No?
What sort of reaction would the CFC Boardroom have created if they had taken control of the situation and informed the govt. and the SPFL that they wouldn’t play the game – on public safety concerns around Parkhead and across the West of Scotland in general?
What if the club had stated that they were placing the wellbeing of NHS staff, the police and the wider public ahead of their own interests – and even chose to forfeit the game 0-3?
Yes, the The Rangers fans would be foaming at the mouth, and calling CFC cowards, etc.
Many CFC fans might also strongly disagree with such a decision.
BUT, it wouldn’t do any harm at all to the CFC ‘brand’ and it would be a tangible nod to the founding principles and values of the club: care for the community.
Celtic could have taken the high road over the dithering around the game.
And the suggestion might appear significantly less ridiculous after the game has been played – but hope not. 🙁
Phil, looks like a hefty tome. How many words?
Currently 80k
90k plus will be the final manuscript.
That’s typical for the genre.
