An inconvenient court date looms for the Sevco High Command

This wonderful piece of deflection dropped into my DMs today.

From the folks that brought you the pop-up shop outside the Louden and the Castore catastrophe in the Ibrox store.

I can’t.

I just can’t…

Meanwhile, the bill in the Ashley case is getting higher by the month.

I caught up with Shirebrook Guy, and he told me that the final cost to Sevco would likely be  £14.7m-£15.5m excluding legal costs (approx. £2m).

As regular readers will know, I recently covered the court proceedings about the upcoming  SDIR v TRFC trial budgets.

The Sports Direct side did not get all they were asking for, but I’m told they consider what was decided is more than adequate for their purposes.

The Sevco High Command are rather alarmed at the accelerated timescale of the court schedule for this.

The trial will probably be held next month.

However, the chaps in the Blue Room were hoping for the summer.

Ah well…

Meanwhile, I’m told that General Ashley’s legal battalions are now focusing on the Magnificently Maned Factotum.

A long time ago he was Mr David Cunningham King’s representative on Planet Fitba.

Alas, that is all now in the past.

However, I’m sure that Mr Murray will be able to robustly defend anything that Ashley’s lawyers have planned for him.

Dunkirk Spirt and all that.

I asked Shirebrook Guy what the endgame for Ashley was.

He was unequivocal in his assessment.

Big Mike wants to destroy King because of the events of early 2015.

The Ibrox club is just collateral damage in this vendetta.

I suggested that a bill of, say, £17m would be a problem for the Sevco High Command.

He countered by saying that an out of court settlement might be reached with Ashley having retail rights in perpetuity or something like that.

As we have seen from the original deal with Charles of Normandy or the deal with King in 2017, Big Mike always has these contracts written his terms.

For the avoidance of doubt, Shirebrook Guy is in a position to know this stuff.

I, of course, couldn’t possibly comment.

  1. any future Scottish Champions will not go straight into group stage next season the earliest this could happen could be 22/23 as Uefa co-coefficients run two years behind

  2. ‘The Rangers’ Chairman Dave King went on tv years ago and told us all that he was personally scratching the onerous SD contract. Further, he stated categorically on tv that he would personally settle any court awarded compensation to SD and costs.

DCK has got it covered. No worries.

He had told a lot of huge porkies over the years.
Good luck getting Dodgy Dave to cough up

  3. It seems to me that given The Rangers require £23m to see the season out, plus a possible £17m with respect to this judgement, it appears to me that they are gambling again on Champions League money. Qualification would cover this debt and things would be fine. Failure would require a major fire sale and/or board members bailing them out or administration.

      • The court already overturned the cap claim…..there is no cap in this case…further…lord persey already told the orcs legal team they were looking at a settlement of ” many millions of pounds”.
I would suspect that was due to the orcs thinking they could AGAIN cheat their way round by making millions upon millions and only repaying 1 million.
Irrespective…there is no cap….already told earlier in the case.

    • No..the opposite is in fact the case. Legal spending has been capped (last week or the week previous) the damages/comp that Ashley will receive has not and i repeat NOT been CAPPED. The judge, way back, refused sevco’s appeal to cap damages at £1 million. Of course if you know how these things work it simply means all options regarding damages are on the table ie; the damages could be £25 million or £1. When sevco show the boycott of their fans against SD i suspect the damages will be much much lower than many are thinking or hoping it will be.

  4. Which ever way you look at this the Rangers* Board have done what matters most. Bet and invested in ensuring a winning team to stop 10. They have won on the pitch. Celtic can win all they want off the pitch but for most fans it doesn’t matter. The bill can be 50m. With Champions League money and a few player sales from a title winning team Rangers* can handle it now. And they’ve stopped 10. Celtic management should be utterly ashamed. What a legacy Peter. Celtic have 20m in the bank Rangers* owe 20m ….that 40m difference has made the difference. Disgraceful Celtic.

    • Sevco owe a lot lot more than 20 million…..I get your point on peter and the board…and agree.
The orcs may not get automatic qualification due to their overwheming breach of uefa ffp rules.
Its my understanding that whatever the award st court…even if appealed…must be set aside as a debt….which would bring the mordor club to sround 50 million over 3 years…the limit is 30 million.
In 2011 the orc deadco club got away with gaining a european licence because they didnt declare the unpaid tax bill…..
They have yet to answer why they didnt declare the tax nill they are presently paying by instalment….and is rumoured to be why theyve asked for 2.5 million from the fans…because they are behind on the instalments.
If thats true…big mikes money means nothing cos hector will be at their door first.
Mike….get your cash before the administrt or liquidate…best advice…hh

    • If that were true(the damages cap) then why contest a case which as-so far-cost more than £1m in legal fees?
This matter has already been dealt with by the court.

  5. As far as i’m aware the legal bills have been capped and sevco will be allowed to produce stats/evidence of their fan boycott of SD therefore reducing considerably the amount ashley will receive which i believe will be nothing more than a token amount of say quarter of a million which makes the overall amount well under 10 million

  6. IF, in a months time, big Mike is awarded a total of circa £17m, IF he DEMANDS his bawbees instantly, AND IF Sevco don’t, won’t, CAN’T cough up, is an admin event still possible this season?

      • So almost 4 years we’ve been reading about this case, yet here we are still reading the exact same story.. General Ashley. Legal battalions…Tanks on the lawn…£17m compo…Shirebrook Guy….Its all becoming a bit click bait, Ashley has obviously won, but he wont be taking over sevco as payment, he wont be taking the stadium or car parks, he wont be getting paid….Ahem….£15m either, they either don’t own it or can’t afford it, at best Ashley will probably strike a LONG TERM retail deal with the huns, there wont be no financial collapse, no administration event, no liquidation, they’ll be no car crash, train crash, no sinking ship, the huns have been purposely kept alive by any means necessary, old firm cash cow ect, so they’ll just keep spending what they cant afford, ignoring any kind of FFP regulations, and be helped at every turn by a compliant SFA and other club chairman….FTSFA

  7. Having been following this melee and seen how bitter feelings are between Asley and TRIFC….I wonder why Ashley…in his hour of triumph…would succeed to a deal of perpetury…..especially given his experience of how the chaps in the blue room view deals…..
In effect, they use them when necessary and throw them out the window all other times.
He knows the monsters in mordor would never stick to any agreements or arrangements.
    They never have.!!!!!
So what exactly will Ashley do once the judge brings down the gavel on his awards……
We all would like to know if they are allowed tome to pay or if Ashley can assume control of the mordor club….especially as he owns newcastle….or if he can put the clubs assets up for sale to recover his monies owed…
Of course selling the assets wont raise much….the shares aint worth confetti….the stadium aint theirs…everything else is in hawk.
    They owe.multi millions….
Would Ashley just sell off the lot to destroy them in his final act of vengeance ?

I would love to hear some answers or possibilities in response….hh

    • Curly I understand where you’re coming from but if they don’t own the stadium then who does, my understanding was the stadium was included in the assets bought by Charles Green back in 2012 or whenever it was, serious question ?

      Reply
      • Hi Paul…my.understanding is Charles of normandy still.owns it in his business assets and leases to sevco….perhaps someone more in the know could clarify…hh

It is not only a serious question…Its a very good question.
But the Dark Forces can keep something like this under wraps…
        Only in Scotland.

    • Your first paragraph nails my own thinking. Sevco see no problem in signing a deal at a point in time when it suits them, trumpeting how wonderful that deal is, then reneging on it and claiming they were duped and cheated a couple of months later.

Any deal in perpetuity with them would equate to litigation in perpetuity.

They break deals like they break wind. Often, loudly and usually with the same offensive odour.

          • Phil, as I understand it, the claim is taken by Sports Direct, so regardless of people trying to make it out as Ashley’s money; this sum of money will be significant to a retailer in these Covid times.

I think they will want there dosh now; as to keep an association with the Govan cheats is a lose, lose situation.

            Tick Tock.
