The unforgiven 2

I fully realise that for the inhabitants of Planet Fitba, the term “Level Five” has a  very local meaning.

However, at midnight we here in the Republic of Lockdown will be in our own version.

One of the restrictions will be a travel limit of 5km  from your home, and everyone will have their own personal boundary point.

That’s tough when this is just beyond the limit.

This is the most severe level of the lockdown that the government can impose and it will cause real hardship and inconvenience.

However, my beef with the gobshites in Dublin is that they were told to move to L5  a week ago by the folk who actually know about this stuff.

As the title suggests, the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) for COVID-19 are comprised of experts who have the professional background to call this based on scientifically verified data.

Everyone here uses the term “NPHET” at least once a day.

Alexa show me a privately educated entitled gobshite who thinks he can wing it through a deadly health emergency.

That was on October 5th.

Then on October 8th this:

Precious time was wasted despite NPHET telling them that they had to act that day.

Leo, the sock boy, is currently our Tánaiste but he still acts as if he is Taoiseach.

The actual holder of that office is this fella from Cork who can say stuff as Leo drinks a glass of milk.

Impressive.

NPHET called for these restrictions one week ago.

The government in Dublin dithered.

That dithering might have cost lives.

Dear reader, I find that unforgivable.

In recent weeks, the infection rates for parts of the 26 County state have been a crisis point.

In a strange coincidence, three of them Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan share a land border with another dignified jurisdiction.

I cannot think of anywhere else in Europe where a public representative turned Covid19 into a sectarian issue.

However, in Narne Arne, that is precisely what happened.

Apparently, Covid19 is a Fenian thing, the Taig plague.

Edwin Poots remains beyond parody.

I reckon that if I put a DUP person in my next novel based on this fella, then the editor would rip the pages out of the manuscript.

She definitely would.

You see dear reader Madam Editor doesn’t like two-dimensional cliched characters.

As we look forward, if that is s the appropriate term, to enforced house arrest, then reading is always there for us.

It is also a time to check in with folk who might be having a tough time of it.

Consequently, I thought it was appropriate I sent this to my colleague and NUJ sister Trish Devlin.

I hope that Big Jack Dempsey’s journey can take her mind off things.

She certainly needs the distraction.

I cannot find any forgiveness in me for someone who would target a child and threaten a young mother.

Moreover, the  PSNI have a question to answer.

Why have not moved on this individual despite knowing his identity for over the past twelve months?

I know about this “man”, and I can attest that he is Ibrox klanbase from Central Casting.

The sort of Quintessentially British hero who obsesses about “paedos” yet threatens to rape an infant.

For the avoidance of doubt, Trish Devlin’s only “crime” has to be a top-class investigative journalist who has dived into the swamp that is Ulster Loyalist criminality.

An attack on a journalist is an attack on journalism.

And that, dear reader, is an attack on democracy.

This is the best of times and the worst of times.

Consequently, the true nature of people can be revealed those with kind hearts and those with dark empty souls.

It is the best part of us that will defeat this virus and all the collateral damage that it is inflicting on society.

Beating Covid19 is a job for all of us.

We WILL get through this.
