I understand that a group Celtic shareholders have submitted a new resolution to the upcoming 2020 Annual General Meeting.
It concerns the issues that led to “Resolution 12” (R12) at the 2013 AGM.
That resolution asked that UEFA should examine the process whereby Ranger were a granted a licence to play in European competitions in season 2011-2012.
The Ibrox club were allowed to compete that in Europe that season despite apparently owing overdue payables to a taxing authority in contravention of UEFA regulations.
My understanding is that this group of shareholders have come together because they are unhappy at the manner in which the R12 issues has been handled by the Parkhead board.
This move has been prompted by the fact that at the 2019 AGM the Celtic Chief Executive denied any knowledge of the now infamous Five Way Agreement.

Developing story…

Phil,
At the risk of looking stupid here.. Peter Lawwell claims he hasn’t read the infamous 5 way agreement, why the hell not?
His ” ignorance” of this document surely is a major cause for concern and needs addressed
This is for scam, you say you preparing to “ dump Celtic after 10 in a row”, my advice would be to go ahead and “ dump Celtic “ immediately, leave the glory for those of us who could never abandon the greatest club in the history of organized football,I’m sure we can rumble along without your support.
Cob:it’s because of all this clubs are in a mess . Trying to keep up with old rangers when they got players they couldn’t Afford and paid no tax and other clubs played by the rules
Most of our Clubs were debt free before they came into the Top Flight.
Them dying actually created a situation where other Clubs started sorting their own finances out having witnessed the shambles unfold at Mordor.
I was referring to the bigger picture and the fact even Clubs in the richer Leagues are going to struggle to sustain the losses until the end of this Season.
There is no getting away from the fact that football sold itself down the river many moons ago to the TV Companies and with it any notion of it still being a game for the working classes.
The growth was unsustainable then what has happened this year has shortened that lifespan no end.
The fact is you can only squeeze so much out of a fan base or market placebefore there is nothing more left to squeeze.
There isn’t an infinite amount of customer’s with an intimate amount of spare cash.
When the bubble eventually bursts it will be spectacular.
Lastly there is no cure for this Pandemic.
It could well be around for decades we just don’t know.
The money men are fully aware of this and will be plotting their own exit strategies as is par for the course for damage limitation.
Lawwell and co like to operate from a 5 year plan.
We could be watching the implosion of Football in slow motion right now and not even know it as the likes of UEFA go about pretending it’s going to disappear soon.
The bottom line is those who control Football be it Clubs or Association’s are primarily involved with the game for the Financial rewards.
Very few are in it for emotional reasons or because they followed a certain Club as a child.
The decision making is always made with any financial impact to them first and foremost and anything beyond that tends to be very much a lesser priority.
Hence why this and numerous other issues like a can have been kicked up the road and then into long grass.
This Pandemic and the impending financial disaster/ruin that is facing most Clubs may not actually be a bad thing for those who do follow Football based purely on an emotional level.
It may cause the bubble to burst and level out the paying field once more as those Clubs who have lived way beyond their means being carried by TV monies and the likes are in a most precarious position.
They have a cheek to ask the Govt/Tax Payers to bail them out even though they have been rolling in cash for years paying exorbitant wages to mercenary badge kissers.
I wish the Res 12 guys all the best but I don’t think now is the time for this and I don’t hold out much hope that anything will come of it at Celtic.
The only way we will ever see fairness at our respective Clubs is if we take control of them.
I’m a big fan of the German 50+1 model.
I think it could transform Celtic into the type of Club we want.
will Sevco distance themselves from this and old RFC
People who know me well…know my attitude towards the Board regarding Res. 12…so I won’t be repeating it here.
All I will say is …
I sincerely hope it is a developing story Phil…and that the Res.12 guys achieve a successful outcome.
This was blatant cheating by everyone involved at that time…and needs to be exposed and dealt with.
More power to Auldheid et al.
Hail hail.
Great good to hear too easy for those in power to just ignore the facts and carry on as if no wrongdoing was done, reminds me of the statement “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” ― Edmund Burke. also another relevant saying ” Standing by and doing nothing while a sin is committed is as bad as committing the sin itself” –Amish Tripathi.
Unreal that this issue has been swept under the carpet by those in power in Scotland, and the Celtic board, is beyond belief.
the other lie that rangers were just relegated and liquidation never happened has now been so successfully implanted in the minds of those who do not look into it deeply enough and believe what the media and others have pushed forward, that the truth has now become so clouded over, that even some Celtic supporters have begun to play along and forget what really happened, the term “old Firm” is now used as never before on radio etc , to cement the lie that all is as before, and of course the liquidation of the original rangers has been conveniently forgotten. FFS even on the chase quiz show, the term triple relegation was used to describe the newco joining the Scottish league at the bottom division. But the really sad thing about it all is, our Board are happy to play along,
another quote “stand for what is right, even if it means standing alone” —Suzy Kassem is so relevant here.
remember when Robert Kelly refused to play in the eastern block when Russia invaded Czechoslovakia
Celtic protest led by Chairman Bob Kelly against playing Eastern European Sides in European Cup 1968/69 due to Soviet Invasion of Prague
“Celtic will hold their heads high for what they did… There are things for Celtic more important than money.”
Celtic Chairman Bob Kelly
AND that is the Celtic way.
Ironically enough we were drawn against Ferencvaros that season and refused to play them.
The draw was redone and we got Saint Etienne and dumped them 4-2 on aggregate.
I wish we had had the fortitude to refuse to play Atletico Madrid and Rapid Vienna when both cheated their way to European finals.
I believe the board had made the decision that they would refuse to play the final in 1974 if they got through in Madrid but any protest after a defeat would simply sound like sour grapes.
They should have withdrawn after the first leg. They were still a major force in European football at that time and UEFA would have had to take action.
I could see their point though. Withdrawing from the biggest club game in the world on a point of principle would have sent shockwaves through football in particular and sport in general.
Over the years I’ve also spoken to a couple of the guys who played in the first leg. The bitterness they still feel is palpable. Many of them regarded it as their last chance. They were right. As a young student nearing the end of his first year, have literally grown up watching that fabulous side, I would have laughed in the face of anyone who’d told me we wouldn’t reach another European semi for 29 years. Ah….the confidence and naivety of youth.
Also Racing Club of Argentina
Total hypocrite.
He took Celtic to the USA when that country was committing war crimes and murdering millions in Indo-China.
He was rewarded for his “morality” by getting a Lizzie bauble from the British Empire, yep that one of genocide, concentration camps etc.
Oh dear…
Hope your right Phil , it boils my urine what rangers(rip) got away with . I was a season ticket holder for the cheating years too when they didn’t play to the rules . I would love to see sir(sic)David and the sfa admit their guilt . Keep safe all 🇮🇪🍀
It was extremely embarrassing, if not contemptible, that Lawwell chose to impersonate Arsene Wenger when questioned about The 5WA: “I didn’t see anything.”
Aye right.
Can only guess a new resolution would be personalised?
Whatever: the Res.12 guys deserve a better outcome from their sterling efforts over the last 7 (!) years.
The ‘plc’ is normally run in a very professionally manner – but it dropped the ball with Res.12. Even if it prefers to just ignore the paying punters, it does have to answer to the [minority] shareholders.
Good luck to them.
Nice update Phil, but I don’t believe justice will be done. Sevco may have another enormous file to brandish at governing bodies. Or there could be a bit of dragging for time. It seems that no one will throw the book at the deceased club or the present infant. Truth be told, the clubs should have stood as one to shine the light on the rule breakers. I suppose if we boil it all down it will be the risk of losing money that prevented a proper investigation.
Its nothing to do with the dead club. Its the SFA who gave them the licence when they new they owed tax.
Thats why the SFA have dropped the case
The dead club supplied the misleading information (lies) so they are equally culpable in my eyes. It was fraud. By BOTH parties.
You cannot punish a dead club, so the SFA has got to carry the can on their own. I wish it was otherwise.
Great news phil, was getting prepared to dump everything Celtic after the tiar 👍
Wasting their time and effort. Celtic’s board know all and have done since day 1. They are in cahoots and always have been. Your favourite saying is follow the money. Celtic was the only club to lose out when Sevco were shoe horned into the lower leagues, they were all for Sevco being helped as their bank balance was directly tied to the bigoted rivalry. Deny it it if you want but it’s the truth. Without the bigots the derby would still sell out but the whole ten in a row thing would not have been so important.
Dead bodies always float to the surface eventually.
They say god loves those who try. Good luck to them but I see it achieving exactly what has been achieved down this road to date. SFA!!!
And I don’t mean the governing body.
God is actually spelled with a Capital g just a wee spelling lesson from me.
Is it really in the best interests of everyone to be holding them to account this Season of all Season’s?
There are folk dying in a Pandemic,Football was almost consigned to the bin for this Season and as it stands plenty Clubs are on the brink of Financial implosion if Supporters are not allowed back in any great numbers?
Can it not wait until next Year?
I see your point Cyan, but the more time that’s allowed to elapse the less chance there is anyone will be held accountable……..and the chances are already between slim and fuck-all.
There’s more to this than meets the eye. I wonder what the more is.
