Better never compromises

Further to my piece yesterday, I spoke with a well-placed source today.

He was able to tell me that there has been a lively conversation between the Castore chaps and the Sevco High Command over the past few weeks.

It would be fair to say that the talks have involved a free and frank exchange of views.

At the time of writing, I am not aware that they have arrived at any rapprochement.

It is undeniable that  Castore has suffered reputational damager because of the poor quality of the merchandise from Turkey.

However, I can report that the chaps in the Blue Room effectively want the enterprising  Scousers to take one of the team on this one.

I was somewhat perturbed to be told today that it just might be that the entrepreneurial Merseyside siblings did not commission the merchandise emanating from Turkey.

However, I’m sure that I must have misheard that one on the phone.

Of course, my piece yesterday about the Quintessentially British chaps in Club 1872 is directly related to this Castore issue.

My understanding is that the Serious Professional is no longer directly liaising with that supporters group.

Instead, that happy duty has been passed onto the Supporter Liaison chap.

In fairness, the Club 1872 fellows they are, somewhat late in the day, discharging their duties to their members by holding the Sevco High Command to account.

Moreover, I think it only fair that they are granted a place around the boardroom table given the size of their shareholding.

In the meantime, they are outside of the blue Room knocking on the door for answers.

Sadly, though the Supporters Liaison Officer can only give them a holding reply as he simply passes their pertinent questions up the line to the Blue Room.

Apparently, these inconclusive interactions have taken place four times in the last 15 days.

Consequently, the statement yesterday had some context, and I’m happy to provide that now.

There are some in the Blue Room who believe that the Club 1872 are being encouraged in their inquiries by an Impecunious chap south of the Limpopo.

It is no secret that Mr David Cunningham King feels that his removal from the Sevco High Command amounted to a betrayal by some of his Concert Party colleagues.

The issue of the reputational damage to the Castore brand remains extant.

Did they commission the lads at the Istanbul Emerald CSC to get sewing?

If not, then who did?

I think that it is interesting that there have not been any complaints about the quality of Castore merchandise on sale in the Sports Direct retail outlets.

Oh, and for the avoidance of doubt, my information is that the Ashley litigation has yet to be settled.

The Sevco High Command appears to be clinging to the hope that the £1m damages cap is still in place.

General Ashley legal division is confident that it will be lifted when the case is finally settled in court.

Developing story.

  1. Well the judge did seem to open the way for the possibility: “SDIR’s losses are likely to be in the order of many millions of pounds.
“Rangers has pleaded that it will rely upon the Non-Exclusive Rights Agreement to limit its damages to £1,000,000. I accept SDIR’s submission that it would be unjust to deprive SDIR of the benefit of its matching right provisions.” [Apologies for the DR link https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/rangers-court-blow-mike-ashleys-18667096%5D

  2. Much as we all enjoy stories of TRFC travails
And chapeau the Castore story is hilarious!
But I think their fans won’t mind one bit if they win on the park even if literally ‘the arse is hinging out their troosers’
Beware the schadenfreude Celtic fans … this season hasn’t exact got off to a stellar start .. I would far rather listen to stories pressurising and challenging
Lawwell , Lennon and the players than read about the going’s on with those muppets on the south side
    I couldn’t care less about them !
Winners Focus on what needs to be done to win .. Losers focus on the wrong stuff !

    • Actually, whoever you are, I can do both.
My reporting on Celtic’s untitled and unqualified director of football is easy to find here.
      Use the search function.
You will find that it is quite simple.

    • Your point is well made which is largely why the Sevco trophy cabinet remains nothing more than a historical glance into the successes of a long lost football club that once played in the stadium that John Brown once played for.

    • Domestically we have done well so far this season. We had a draw at Kilmarnock, which is something that has happened quite often in the last 4 seasons.
We will be alright in the league again

  3. Celtic alongside Ross County,Aberdeen and Killie are the test run specimens to see how and if reduced crowds will be permitted on a more permanent basis.Just seeing on the evening news that they’ve now trained sniffer dogs to flag anyone that has been in contact with the disease or is infected with it.
Seemingly they’ve been trained to a very high degree,so much so,that they can detect even a small sample of clothing;that’s what they trained the dogs with, that might have been in contact with someone who had or was in contact with someone who has/had covid-19…
Could this be another instalment of ‘mans best friend’ doing it for us humans again?

    As you say Phil,developing story.

Thanks Phil for keeping us updated🇮🇪

    • I think people better get it into their heads that football and any other sport are finished when it comes to fans being there.
You’ll be lucky if their are any football teams left in the next 2 years because there is no way this is sustainable. Sniffer dogs for a 60,000 crowd I’ve heard it all now.
Maybe this WILL AWAKEN THE SHEEP about this so called DEADLY VIRUS that you have to get tested for, and if you test positive you have to stay in you’re wee cosy house for a fortnight to make it all better.
