The dignity epidemic in now out of control

One of the things I have been doing in lockdown is to search for movies to watch.

Inevitably I have ended up watching films that I have already seen.

I suppose I am hardly unique in that regard.

One movie that I have sat through twice in the last couple of months is Contagion.

The 2011 film directed by Steven Soderbergh is about what we are living through right now.

I fully realise that it probably is not the best Netflix choice late at night.

Sure, it’s only a movie.

However, despite some artistic licence, I am told that most of the technical data contained in the script would pass muster at the CDC and WHO.

If you have not already, and you do not mind the nightmares, then it is highly recommended.

The following is a spoiler.

The big reveal comes at the end when we see how this awful virus MEV-1 jumped from the animal world to humans.

I was thinking of those end scenes in Contagion as I quietly observed the fevered craziness on Planet Fitba last weekend.

Just like the scientists hunting MEV-1 in the movie, it is essential to look at where this all began.

In the summer of 2012 Mr Neil Doncaster, now a prime target of the Sevco High Command helped bring the new club into existence.

In the postscript to Downfall, I strongly suggested that the Chief Executive of the then Scottish Premier League (SPL) should clear his desk.

My reason for doing so was the role that they had played in creating the new club from the body parts of Rangers.

Now the incubation period is finally over, and the temperature in the Blue Room is at fever pitch.

Of course, the Ibrox klanbase always showed some symptoms of not being well.

The fever has always gripped chaps in the Fitba Fourth estate.

Across two days at the weekend, Radio Scotland held a Sevcothon.

In the print media, it was no better.

This chap, in particular, does seem to be exhibiting symptoms.

Thankfully, some have developed antibodies to the madness.

In 2012 Mr Doncaster clearly wanted a Rangers, any Rangers, in the SPL.

He saw a team playing out of Ibrox as central to his business model.

C0snjequently, he strongly supported his colleague in the SFA Mr Regan when he allowed Charlie and the boys into the game in fair Caledonia.

Be careful what you bully for.

Mr Doncaster is now being hunted by the creature he helped to create eight years ago.

The current outbreak of craziness in Planet Fitba is not an aberration.

Rather, it was always the destination.

The folk that were in positions of authority in the summer of 2012 did not listen to the sage counsel of the late great Turnbull Hutton.

Instead, they just saw pound signs and wanted the “Old Firm” at any price.

That was the bat, banana, pig moment for Planet Fitba, and a deadly pathogen was taken on board.

Until a vaccine is found for the Stenography Corps, the originator of the virus should probably be quarantined.

  1. It’s time for Celtic to get out of this awful Scottish Sevco turmoil show. No one would have SEVCO in any league.

    Celtic should join any league.

Alternatively, a UEFA perpetual invite into the CL each year plus international show games around the world and at Celtic park to fill the season. Contributing zero money to Scottish football.

Play the Asians; Chinese clubs, Japanese, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Koreans, India, Pakistan, ….
Play the Latin Americans; Brazilian clubs, argentinians, Chileans, Colombians, Venezuelans, etc…
    Play Europeans,…….
    Play North American’s…..
    Play Middle East…….

Don’t play Scottish clubs again. Sevco has irreparably damaged the game and clearly continues to do so..

Force the issue, retire from Scottish football and see who comes asking.

  2. It’s Celtic’s undisputed title just as it’s PSG’s title in France.

Everything else is sour grapes Ibrox Noise.

The SPFL Clubs can award their title to whoever they want to and declare that club their champions. That club will thereafter be the Just and legal champions.

  3. Doncaster is now tasting his own medicine of poison which he created way back 2012 . The thing is he is way in to deep with sevco now to take a step back and call them out on any shenanigans from 2012 . Don’t be surprised to see sevco blow the lid on Doncaster and the 5 way Agreement if it means taking a few bodies with them on the way to admin and liquidation .

  4. I’ve always been dismissive of Celtic and Rangers moving to an English league – in normal times. But great chaos creates great calamity for some and great opportunity for others. The 12-10-10-10 will soon look like a meth addicts smile and I’m pretty sure Hearts will be invited up to fill a gap – and maybe ICT too – without the need for reconstruction.

Likewise, if the EPL or Championship finds it has a roster in need of a quick bolster – perhaps a club with healthy finances, TV pulling power, a great stadium and fans celebrated across Europe might find itself with an offer it can’t refuse – and break free from all this parochial, petty-minded nonsense once and for all.

Like 14th century peasants putting up two fingers to their erstwhile feudal lords as they abandoned their tied hovels to seek a better life elsewhere – no-one ever imagined it – but it happened and serfdom was never the same again.

I may have tortured that metaphor a bit there – but you get my drift – everything is becoming possible – and without either member of the “old firm” the SFA and SPFL will learn their deserved and earned position in life – enjoy.

  5. PLs silence is driving sevco and the “press” crazy. Long may it continue. I think “relegating” anybody will be a temporary measure. Let’s see who is left in September and who can finish the season. I do not want Hearts relegated, they bring in crowds and they play on grass. They have a very unpleasant element granted. But remember Marcus Aurelius – the best revenge is not to be like that. It might be time to tackle some of these “newspapers”. The best way to proceed is through an analysis of their funding and to target that. This probably means those who advertise with them on their sites. I am sick of reading faux outrage on their content. Write to their advertisers, and let the green pound speak. There has never been a better time.

  6. With further outbreaks in Germany and China I can’t see any football in the UK till there is a vaccine avaialble to beat the pandemic.
That could, at best, be next year.
God knows how European football will look then, especially for clubs in Scotland who don’t have the fall back of massive TV monies.
I don’t see how Celtic, and anyone else can sell season tickets till we are safely clear of this terrible pandemic.

    • Not every club has millions in the bank, a worldwide fanbase or a big deal with Adidas. Some fans are buying season tickets to prevent their club from going bust!

  7. I believe you will find it originated in a Secret Laboratory in Renton.
A batshit crazy idea was hatched among the hosts and then subsequently released into the wider population via a Level 5 presser through the Stenographers of the CCP ( Corrupt,Compliant,Press).
Over 55,000 were infected in one day as 2angersitis-2012 spread like gossip On a Monday morning at Singers on John Street…

  8. Maybe a true to novel screen production of ‘Frankenstein’ would be an appropriate movie to add to your viewing queue…

After all… the monster causes death and destruction to all in its vicinity before turning on those who show some compassion.. ultimately the creator of the monster knows it must be stopped and commits to a perilous journey chasing his obscene creation to a barren, frozen wasteland for the showdown.
Ultimately ‘The Creator’ succumbs to the ordeal and dies not at the hand of the monster but due to the physics damages to himself from engaging in the chase…

I can see this story playing out in similar fashion.

Let’s hope the monster is frozen forever.

  9. Don’t ignore Celtic part in all this. They were desperate for a Rangers of any kind to be in the league ( the 5 way agreement ) Don’t forget Celtic were the only club to see gate receipts drop when Sevco were force out and down.
As for the current crisis, Celtic have been strangely quiet, no comments on league reconstruction, no comment on the injustice of clubs being demoted with games to play. Are they so desperate for a tainted title they would see clubs go to the wall, rather than support the simple solution of calling the leagues now with reconstruction ( even for one season ) the best option to stave off this injustice?

    • The league rules state a season is 38 games not withstanding any cancelled or postponed games that can’t be played.
So calling the league as it , is just following league rules. What’s the point in having rules if you ain’t gonna follow them?
Let’s have an independent inquiry, from the last 10 year if not , the last 2 seasons. Let’s find out what rules are being broken to allow sevco into Europe

      • Only in the minds of the crazies who want to stop Celtic’s 9 and 10 IAR off the field of play and they have failed miserably on it.
I include Alistair Johnston amongst the crazies….. Hows that fit and proper thingy with the SFA going Alistair, a fine, upstanding chap like yourself should have been granted f&p status in 5 minutes flat and not dragged out for months and months.
Is there a wee problem Alistair, perhaps you could explain, it’s all a bit mystifying to us ordinary people?

        Reply
    • Nonsense,

All the other SPFL teams on the “reconstruction committee” voted down reconstruction – not Celtic.

The SPFL already have it in the rules, that all clubs signed up to, to end the season when they decide the league is over. They had a vote to see if everyone could behave in the face of this pandemic, sadly they did not.

There will be nothing tainted about Celtic’s deserved title other than the shameful twisted behaviour of others.

Celtic have made their feelings known, they want the league played to a finish. What else do you want them to say? Perhaps sympathise with Hearts who have overspent and underperformed spectacularly?

If we are to apply the “ifs, buts and maybes” formula that Hearts could have played their way out of it or Sevco could have caught Celtic then surely you can’t apply that formula to only a few clubs? You must assume that all other clubs will perform to the new miraculous capabilities of the select few, the losers in this case that everyone is saying “could have would have”, and that all the others up their game too? That’s fair is it not? Lo and behold we actually have that formula! Average points per game!

It seems the appalling spectacle created by the select few, who all have a strange penchant for Brown Brogues, has absolutely nothing to do with fair play other than to deprive Celtic of a deserved title and their fans a chance to celebrate.

The hypocrisy is screaming. We all know that the Regans and Doncasters should have been removed from office a long time ago. They helped to cheat every club in Scotland and mock every tax payer in Scotland with their behaviour from 2012. Rules were bent, broken and created in order to have a new club jump the queue into the league system. Bullying and coercion were also in play.

In 2017 in The Supreme Court we heard sworn testimony and documented facts that proved a fraud had taken place in Scottish football.

Not one club other than Celtic asked for an investigation into that. The media hid and deflected and told Celtic to shut up. Where were all the fine upstanding members of Scottish Football, who care so much about the good of the game and integrity, where were they? Real evidence, real crimes, real coercion, real bullying and real fraud. Where were they?

      It seems there is a virus in Scottish Football;

      sevCOVID-1690

Looks like you’ve caught it James.
