Questions and answers

Celtic have yet to find a satisfactory answer to their very own West Lothian Question.

Livingston were well worth a share of the spoils and looked to be heading for victory.

In fairness, battling back from 2-1 down did show substantial mental fortitude from Lennon’s men.

Of course, two points dropped by the champions should have been the story of the night.

However, events at the stadium that John Brown played for did make it all rather Academical.

Mr Gerrard may have misplaced the dressing the room, but he certainly now appears to have lost a section of the Ibrox klanbase.

Even if Sevco does win their game in hand Celtic will still have a 10 point lead with a massively better goal difference favouring the champions.

That arithmetic reality will not be lost on Mr Let’s Go tonight as more and more of The People are clamouring for his departure.

After tonight, bruising as it was, Celtic are now 180 minutes away from a quadruple treble.

That’s rather remarkable.

  1. Gerrard is a busted flush. His brand value is melting like snow off a dyke.
The contract extension was to make sure that the transfer value of Gerrard and management team would bring in the same level of cash as Brendan’s flight to the Foxes did. Winning a few trophies along the way would have helped stand up the numbers!
The multi million pounds valuations placed on Morelos, Tavernier, Barasic and Kamara only a few weeks ago now look laughable.
The Germans won’t be throwing Gerrard any crumbs of comfort and the season could be over by midnight next Thursday.
Cue the Ibrox boo boys giving Stevie G and the players pelters, thats if they can be bothered to turn up.
Having gone all in this season with the hope that the sale of Morelos would pay off Close Bros, Sports Direct and fund a squad rebuild, what now for Kingco?
When the best news the red tops can come up with is linking Rangers by association with young Gilmour’s tour de force for Chelsea the other night then you know the game is up.
Await with interest to see what team Stevie G fields against the Hoops in between the 2 Europa games.
My guess is that the Europa will take massive preference and those currently filling the bench will come in for the Celtic game, even if its the fixture that clinches 9 IAR.

    • Apparently it’s all Celtic fault that morelos has form had dipped big time . The pressure of not scoring against us is haunting him . Oh dear always looking for someone to blame what better excuse or reason than to blame your rivals . Their sites are in overdrive meltdown mode .

  2. Once again it’s the players to blame. The hapless Steven Gerrard tells us the dressing room is quiet but they’re all in a rut in there.

There’s nothing possibly deficient in him though, Stevie’s a world beater…… in his own lunchtime.

Who is the Chairman with the strategic mind running Ibrox these days? Nobody knows who is in charge anymore.

  3. Phil if we do achieve the treble again this year should you not be calling it a historic quadreble or spell it quadrebel to annoy the orcs

    • I posted on a previous article that Haniltin are fighting for their lives and put it out there don’t be surprised if the take something from the game . Time is now not on Gerrard’s side anymore and if he is not away by the weekend the Klan will stay away . They will start to feel like the mug punters that they are being fleeced and taken for granted once again with broken promises. The revolt is only one game away it’s up to the board to prevent. As the auld saying goes prevention is better than the cure . And PANIC has definitely set in over there . You might even get some dirty tricks in politics if the PR expert has to be called in .

  4. Is it time to substitute Gerrard out the managers seat in the dugout or reward failure and keep him there?

    Let’s be careful now!

  5. The two worst individual errors of the season. It happens. But Julie Andrews could have done better than our own Julie for that goal.. Taylor is awful, and Elyonoussi is just not quick enough. Looking forward to seeing Frimpong playing in front of Elhamedi. We got way with one but we earned it

  6. It appeared that Deadco had won the Quadruple Treble on 29 December. At least Gerrard’s theatrics seemed to convey that. Still, he’s only a gullible apprentice. Additionally he’s a Celtic man. So not a total calamity for him tonight.

    • We play them pre-split so a win for us there will see us sit 16 clear as we head towards the split and an uncatchable lead in the table

      • Sevco have 10 games to play, 30 points theoretically. Winning them ALL, including beating us TWICE, would give them an end of season tally of 94 points. IF however, we beat them at the Dome of Debt the maximum they can achieve would be 91 points.

We presently sit on 77. Winning ALL 4 games BEFORE the split would put us on 89 points. If Sevco drop ANYTHING in their other pre-split games this would be the maximum THEY could achieve. THUS our GD would effectively tie up the title.

IF we WIN all four games before the split and Sevco LOSE to ANYONE else as well as us, GD becomes irrelevant. It would be mathematically impossible for them to equal or total.

      • They have a game in hand hence why we would need them to drop further points in another game before the split. its pretty academic anyway

  7. Lots of the ball but few chances created tonight. Livvy could have been out of sight at the start of the 2nd half.
Who would have thought for a moment that we would finish the night, effectively 14 points in front as the Ibrox collapse continues apace.
We would need to lose 5 of our last 9 games to blow the league.
Thats not going to happen despite our drop in form.
Looks as if the deal can be sealed with a win at Ibrox in a couple of weeks.
That will go down well with the blue side particularly if the Europa dream is in tatters by then.

  8. At least three foul shies from Ciaron Brown for Livingston, and Willie Collum looking the other way every time, while the Bhoys in green still haven’t found their footing on the plastic at Almondvale, made this pivotal encounter much closer than it should have been. Clever use of fire alarms, and an impressive Lyndon Dykes added to the second half chaos. But Celtic were worth their draw. Time to regroup, rethink and gear up for the many honest mistakes ahead. (I’d comment on the Ibrox fiasco, but think congratulating the Accies is the best response for a clear conscience.) Hail hail.

  9. So, Gerrard applied his managerial nous to deal with recent TRFC missteps.

TRFC effectively bounced back from their 0-1 loss at Hearts, with an, erm, 0-1 loss at home to the Accies.

Where does he – and his underperforming squad – go from here?

I suppose knocking out Bayer Leverkusen should help their cause and get the bears off their backs… 🙂

    • Steven Gerrard is so underperforming he deserves a third season to turn this around. Absolutely.

He needs to try and bump the guys on long contracts he doesn’t like out the door in the summer at a huge cost buying out contracts.

He needs to buy more galacticos on Premiership winning money in the summer.

Steven isn’t a quitter and he’s a lighthearted focus of interest in Scotland for us.

As no one will buy Alfredo this summer, Steven needs to go on an understanding Latins course. Alfredo hasn’t scored since December as Steven promised he would be sold in January and he wasn’t. Latins don’t like lies.

Regardless, Alfredo has had 12 games v Celtic and has never scored.

      • Unfortunately HE awarded the bumper contracts. Giving a bumper contract to a sellable asset is a really GOOD move as it can considerably increase his market value.

If however you give a bumper contract to a fairly average player it makes prospective buyers balk and look elsewhere, AND you’re lumbered a huge wage to pay.

Well played Stevie!! You’re the man!!

Gumtree Galacticos indeed. That’s where they’re going to have to try to punt these donkeys.

        🎵Now, the end is near,
and Sevco faces the final curtain.🎵

  10. I would have to say we gifted them both goals. We look very shaky at the moment at the back. A goal from a throw in foul or not is criminal.
