Showing complicity the yellow card

On Planet Fitba it would appear that rules are there to be created when needed.

The mystery yellow for Alfredo is a case in point.

I asked several knowledgeable folks this morning about this one.

None of them had ever heard of a player receiving a yellow card after receiving a red card.

Very strange.

My first question was “why has it taken three weeks for this to be revealed?”

A cynic might answer that is how long it takes to get your story straight over the festive period.

I, of course, couldn’t possibly comment.

One of my sources even mention that immortal word twice:

“Dougie Dougie”.

Then again, as I have stated recently, Sevco seems to be the nexus of some very strange stuff.

That strangeness is sometimes acted out in court.

The most recent episode in the High Court this week in London was a case in point.

Full marks for chancing your legal arm goes to the basket of assets.

Asking Judge Lionel Persey QC for “injunctive relief” could be translated into the lay person’s terms as “taking the piss”.

For the avoidance of doubt, Sports Direct has a strong case and they possess documentary evidence to back it up.

That is all out in the public realm and I have covered it extensively.

The likely bill to Sevco?

General Ashley’s people are £6m-£10m plus legal costs.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is shit show entirely of Mr King’s making.

He thought he could outwit Big Mike after the 2017 deal.

Meanwhile, Operation Sell Alfredo is powering ahead regardless of the Colombian’s card count.

Then there was this today.

My initial reaction on Twitter to this news didn’t seem to be atypical.

Of course, all of this should be a target-rich environment for any eager journalist who wants to serve the public interest.

The stories are there.

Instead, the members of the Stenography Corps are happy to follow orders.

  1. Oh dear the BENNY’S and their club have struck comedy gold this with time their dispute with their friends at the 6th floor at Hampden . Apparently they are going to contest the charges brought against them from the Hibs game and the game against us. Now not a mention from these thick people of the 2 incidents from morelos and Kent gestures which could have caused all sorts of problems on and off the field . Sevco and their fans are so DENSE they can’t even tell the difference between getting away without any punishment on things and when they are being punished . No doubt club 18to30 opps sorry club 1872 will be called into action and out in force within the next 48 hours making demands shouted down from their thick monthly subscribers to sack SFA . But at least the BENNY’S always have someone fighting their corner . As for our club we only have people there fighting over bonuses LIEWELL & Co.

  2. Morelos must simply be given a second red card. It is unavoidable. The Compliance Officer has nowhere to hide on this.

Kent must be carded also for antagonising the crowd to riotous behaviour.

  3. I see no one busting a gut to prise Morelos away with a £50m offer.
Perhaps potential suitors are asking themselves how long he would last in the EPL with opposition players fully aware of how to wind him up.
Another important factor will be that the men in black in the EPL won’t be turning a blind eye to his behaviour as is the case in Scotland and with VAR covering every move his disciplinary record could only get worse
Two weeks to go till the end of the window, stand by for an avalanche of offers from China, Juventus, Barcelona…..

  4. Laws of the game. Law 3:
“The Referee… has the authority to take disciplinary action from entering the field of play for the pre-match inspection *** UNTIL LEAVING THE FIELD OF PLAY *** (including kicks from the penalty spot).”

    Emphasis mine.

Why is the SFA empowering referees to violate the laws of the game, and why is the SFA accepting that portion of the match report. It is perfectly acceptable for the referee to include commentary in the match report for the compliance officer to review, but the authority to discipline players after the referee has left the field of play tests with the SFA/SPFL, not the match official.

The other thing is that there is zero provision in the Laws for a 3rd caution in a single match. The SFA are making this up as the go along.

  5. The gesture by the gruffalo was deemed to be the end of the match by the hun hordes, yet the same hun hordes pulled up a screening of him doing the same at the 52nd minute in another match.

So when was the 52nd minute the end of a match?

    Hoisted by their own petard.

    Ergo….liars.

  6. Today’s manoeuvres by the SFA are amazing. NEVER, EVER, have I seen or even heard of, a player being given another yellow AFTER he’s already been red carded. ANY transgression on the way off is automatically another RED! Except obviously if you play for Rangers. Kent also gets a yellow for making gestures to the fans. But neither player is to be punished. The club will be given any fine. In other words Rangers players are NOT being held responsible for THEIR actions on the field of play. They can do what they want and not face suspension.

Anyone remember Artur Boric making the sign of the cross at Ibrox. He was cautioned by the police and at one point was facing a charge of “Spreading fear and alarm” among a section of around ten thousand Rangers fans.

Compare and contrast. The sign of the cross versus throat cutting and shooting gestures.

    • The sign of the cross must affect them in the same way that it affects Dracula. Were they all cowering in a corner with the hands over their eyes in total panic?

      • Imagine he’d sprinkled Holy Water at them. They might have dissolved on the spot.

People could have been killed in the stampede to get away…………….if he’d sprayed deodorant at them.

    • Sevco players cannot collect cards. Winning the SPFL is too critical for it to rest on a player suspension. It’s all hands to the pumps; Apprentices, Journeymen and Masters.

  7. Exactly, why has it taken 3 weeks for the compliance officer to deal with the Morelos incident. On completion of a SPFL match referees have to submit(by electronic means) within a few hours a report to the SPFL and the SFA. This is followed up by a copy of said report sent by first class post. Given the fallout from this match you would think that an “on the ball” compliance officer would have thoroughly read and digested this (the full report – anything less than this would be a dereliction) on the next working day. Such a scenario would mean that Clair Whyte would have known that Morelos rec’d (in the dressing room) an after match cauton. A simple statement at that point is preferable to an almost 3 week wait. Unless…! Perhaps the compliance officer would clarify what she did or did not do or did or did not see.

    • We all know the answer to why these bewildering unprecedented decisions were made.
The people responsible for making them are sevco facing freemasons.
      It was ever thus.
Don’t give them any more money.

  8. If I can add another twopence worth which will take it up to fourpence so far, then I would have to say my favourite is Persey’s moan about how much court time SD are taking up with this case when they tried to introduce a further breach of contract.
It is like the prosecution stating they have found another victim which they can “attribute” to the accused only to be met by a “do you have to?”
Justice delayed is justice denied, they say but he has limitless time to deal with Sevco’s request.

  9. The continuation of baffling refereeing / disciplinary proceedings, into its nth season.

The ‘new’ Head of Referee Operations is yet another placeman with a similar background to his predecessors.

    Nothing changes.

And my own club obediently adopts its typical, supine position.

I’m starting to lose all interest in Scottish football… 😦

  10. One must not overlook the gravitas of Rottweiler Lord John Reid, Celtic Chairman, during Dougie Dougie gate.

A former Government Minister, who had held four senior offices of state, knew what he was talking about. The SFA were cretinous wretches in his shadow.

Unfortunately, there were a constituent minority of fan base who didn’t like him at the club. It was the same crowd who didn’t like Ian Livingston, Baron Livingston of Parkhead or indeed Fergus McCann.

These men brought strength and influence to the club.

Clearly Cretinous Wretches are not restricted to the SFA.

    • Lord John Reid
Went from being a good socialist to cheer leader for Iraq war before taking the ermine. What a man of principle!
Lost all credibility in many Labour supporters eyes.

        • Why am I a troll?
Gary K brought up Lord John Reid and stayed he had gravitas.
I am a Labour supporter who became disillusioned with him for the reasons I have stated and am merely countering his opinion which he has stated.
I would be extremely surprised if my opinion is not shared by a large number of Celtic supporters.
Do not mix up trolling with responding to dubious opinions
          Thank you

  11. I know a few powerful barristers, from a distance that is, both criminal and commercial, and I get the feeling that not one of them would take a massive pay cut for job on the bench. They would also miss the excitement of being at the chalk face and living on their not inconsiderable wits, with one, memorably describing a victory in court as being greater than sex. Those that do tend to be of the Persey, Nimmo Smith variety, clubbable, maliable and non-feather ruffling and not the sharpest tools in the legal box. Persey was giving nearly enough rope to hang himself at the first hearing, claiming damages for Sports Direct would run into many millions. In the interim period something and he changed ( or was changed) and now, like all matters Sevco, it has become farcical.
From what I gather Sevco asked for consideration of laying aside an injuction so that they can deal with a company and contract deemed to be illegally signed and it was granted! They boldly go…

  12. Hibs in a bit of bother with sevco over their recently played game and all the shenanigans that went on there. But sevco are in double trouble as the shenanigans from their recent visit to Parkhead are also being flagged up in regards to their players and coaching staff . Oh dear sevco better keep that wee black book out AKA the 5 Way Agreement it’s going to be doing some overtime . Oh the threats and the naming and shaming will soon get this kicked into touch . The middle of a doughnut will be the punishment for sevco and their players and coaching staff.

  13. No doubt that wee black book with all its secrets in it AKA the 5 Way Agreement will get a mention when any punishment is thought about or even mentioned to sevco . So 2 yellow cards = a red card if anything happens after the player has been sent off it needs to be another red card for him . Unless the tickly handshake brigade at the SFA are making it up as they go along or it’s an agreement between SFA and sevco themselves .

  14. Phil; to get that painful slap on the wrist, you are ahead of yourself a little in pre-judging that SFA would actually find them guilty….. 🙂

    • How does that work. A player commits an offence on the field of play, but the club get cited and will get a fine but nothing will happen to the player.
Why does Celtic not go back to the SFA and tell them to rip up the ban for Christie and pay them 5k.
