Mixed weather conditions over Ibrox

This should be a very happy period for the Sevco High Command.

However, I was told yesterday that it isn’t all rosy in the Ibrox garden.

However, let’s start with the good news first.

The victory over Celtic at Parkhead last month has given Mr Gerrard’s charges real belief that they are the best team in Scotland.

The ex-Liverpool U18 coach has undoubtedly grown in the job.

Moreover, he has a highly experienced backroom team to assist him.

Collectively they believe that they have worked out how to neutralise Lennon’s Celtic.

That view has been transmitted to the chaps in the Blue Room.

Consequently, they are pinching themselves that 2020 could be Sevco’s year.

Of course, that is all that the Ibrox klanbase care about.

However, the folk who tend to the Sevco money tree know that there are other problems on the horizon.

Unsurprisingly, many of them have to do with the Brogue Trader in Johannesburg.

I was surprised to learn yesterday from an impeccably placed source that Mr David Cunningham King is not minded to donate his RIFC shares to a worthy cause.

My assumption was that he would sign them over to those fine fellows at Club 1872 gratis.

Dear reader, you can imagine my shock when I learned that the man who loves  The Rangers so much that he requires monetary compensation for his shareholding.

There is also the small matter of a loan that needs to be paid back to him.

Consequently, this proposed share issue will see most of the monies raised travelling to South Africa.

The other weather system currently troubling the inhabitants of the Blue Room is Hurricane Alfredo.

His most recent piece of performance art at Celtic Park is in danger of further damaging the Morelos brand.

Se acerca una tormenta…

As it stands it will be challenging to attract the kind of transfer fee that the Sevco High Command are praying or.

Of course, the Stenography Corps have done their obedient best.

They always do.

However, out with that succulent bubble the Colombian striker is seen for what he is.

A player with some admirable qualities, but also possessing a time bomb temperament.

It goes without saying that Mr Gerrard does not want to lose his main goal threat for the second half of the season.

However, the folk who prioritise the growing pile of invoices at Ibrox know that they must bring in a sizable fee for him.

Oh, and one other thing.

He hasn’t gone away you know…

Back in court in two weeks.

  2. I think a few people are focussed on the wrong thing. All the Huns care about us stopping the 10, no matter how they do it. The tactically inept and complacent Celtic manager seems to fall into the same pattern time and time again…..and his long exhausted excuse book is evidence of it. I for one, will never watch another Celtic game as long as I live if we allow them to win the league and will happy destroy all merchandise I’ve collared down the years.

I fear it’s already too late considering the fixtures and how they pan out……the tortoise and hare come to mind!!

    Reply
    • You also have to consider that at the later stages of the league those teams safe from relegation will have no compunction in lying down to them.

      Reply
    • Joe, if that is the way you feel then you would really be better going just now.

I’m 67 and I can remember the real bad days when we won fk all and I never once considered turning my back on Celtic. Celtic is a way of life, a very good reason for breathing and the main focus of my greatest pleasures in life.

Please give your Celtic scarf to someone that deserves it and don’t slam the door on the way out.

      • Johnny, I see you’ve adopted a “Labour Party” style approach to supporting Celtic……and you’ll also be left scratching your arse at the end of the season wondering what happened…..and why the stands will be bare for years to come.

Plain and simply, the writing was on the wall all along but the fools wouldn’t listen. They wanted to get behind a guy that was one of them but what they couldn’t (Or wouldn’t) see was that he just didn’t have the right credentials.

He’ll blame refs, he’ll say we were lethargic and passive at times, he’ll say decisions went against us……what he won’t say is why he picked terrible team selections in big games, he won’t say why players who’ve performed time and time again don’t get off the bench, he won’t say why his teams couldn’t change tact during a game when it was apparent from the get go it was going all wrong, what he won’t say is that after half decent results him and his approach were “we’ve made it lads, kick back and enjoy it, this game today is in the bag”……..look back at his first stint in charge, there’s a trail of consistent complacency after decent results and ultimately incompetence is the diagnosis.

Celtic are in my heart and in my soul, my first love…..maybes I love them too much…..but I won’t follow incompetence in individuals and give them my support. We should be pasting the rotten mob on every given occasion but you’re so blind that you can’t see they’ve turned the tables on us. It’s utterly inexcusable for them to be even competing with us never mind playing us off the park every time we’ve played in the last six matches or so.

It’s idiots with a pigheaded attitude like you that allows these atrocities to unfold.

        Reply
        • The last 6 matches ? You sure you’ve been watching these games …. The ran riot in final and were at their best in last 2 games which we weren’t … Our best 11 still beats their best 11 on their day …
Nothing we can do when SG signs almost 40 players to find a decent 11 …
SFA etc. should be asking to see their accounts …
We could go mental and make sure we win 12 in a row but eventually it would catch up with us , it’s not how we operate

          Reply
          • Blah blah blah…..my issue is with Lennon and his consistent inconsistencies. He’s a “feet up and bask in the glory” kinda guy every time we get a half decent result somewhere and we always pay the price in bread and butter games afterwards throwing away advantages.

How bad will it be to surrender the 9th title in a row to a new start club where we should be miles out of sight. Lennon has never been the manager for me!!

          • Our best 11 may beat their best 11 but that’s not how things work. There will always be injuries, suspensions, form dips. THat’s football. What we need is consistently being able to beat them at their best when we are under strength. Unfortunately we’re showing that we are incapable of this. Can it be fixed? Yes. Probably quite easily too, but we need to accept the reality and the problem before we can look for the solution. I worry too many (fans, backroom staff) see these as errant results. They’re not- Slippy has worked out how to overcome NL’s standard tactics. The tactics therefore must change.

    • What an embarrassing comment … “If we don’t win league I’ll never watch them again” … You are not a fan, you are what we call a glory hunter … Real fans turn up Win, lose or draw …
I won’t be too chuffed myself if we throw it away this year and questions will be asked, and I’d also assume Neil would have done himself out of a job BUT until that happens we support him and the team … We always spend within our means, if they spend outwith theirs then that’s really a matter for the proper authorities to look at AGAIN …
WE WILL NOT overspend just to achieve history … We have already proven we make history consistently within our model … All these so called supporters that think Lawwell doesn’t have Celtic’s best interests at heart are as deluded as that Govan mob … Lawwell is an avid Celtic supporter as well BUT he has a huge responsibility to ensure Celtic are run correctly … He’s already had plenty other more attractive offers ££££ but yet he’s still here … Speaks volumes 🍀🍀🍀

      Reply
      • Nothing to do with Lawwell or his prudence…it’s the manager and his consistent complacency I’m talking about….now politely piss off.

        Reply
      • Ahhh … because the Scottish football authorities will take a heavy hand down on Sevco for their financial model and borrow spend approach!

  3. Let’s say for arguments sake , the judge awards MA , 10 million pounds in total , he may well say to the rangers , give me morelos, and I’ll give you the 11m you need to stay afloat , that’s a net 21 m package , plus Morelos wage of circa 35 k per week saved , it keeps all of them happy , plus the Ibrox fans can claim they got 21 m for Morelos , which in reality they would have . The rangers then simply play Defoe for the rest of the season up front in the place of Morelos and like it or not he will score plenty of goals for them, so that in my humble opinion would be a very bad outcome for Celtic .

  4. Can they actually afford to sell Morelos?

The simple economics may say that they should sell but things are never that simple down there.

As they’ve somehow survived up ’til now, is it possible for them to limp on ’til season end without an existential threat?

I know last season they thought they were all-in after New Year and invested accordingly but fell well short in the end.

This year, do they feel as or more confident? I suspect the latter, as they’ll believe our manager is more vulnerable, as this is his first full season (this time obviously).

Although winning the league would be all the klan desire, I doubt it provides much financial relief, as the ability to negotiate 4 tough CL rounds will be unlikely and that’s assuming they retain all their top assets.

If they did sell (£10m?, I cannot see a £20m bid) they would probably look to a Cosgrove or Shankland to replace but the former would cost a lot of money. The latter would do the Morelos role against the bottom fodder but again would still cost a few £m,as he’s probably key to United staying up, assuming they’re promoted.

  5. I note today that the Spurs supporters Trust have asked for clarity around their teams investigation of alleged racism in the game against Chelsea. This is going to be a recurring theme where there is a lack of evidence around these issues. Racism is once again becoming a growing social problem, its no coincidence that at a time of austerity and a move to right wing politics in England it has seen an increase none more so than at footballing arenas.

However as Celtic fans have found to their cause in recent days the very serious issue of reporting racism is open to manipulation as well by those with a different agenda. Racism is a terrible slur on any fan base and thus so it must be evidenced and factual to ensure that the issue is not diluted by false claims.

Authorities within the sporting world and indeed the media need to have a transparent mechanism for investigating claims of racism and must be constrained in their reporting until it is actually proven. The free for all nature of reporting from certain Sevco friendly journalist is a case in point of how not to report without facts.

If evidence of racism is found in an investigation, expel and imprison/fine those involved, they do not deserve to breathe the same air as the rest of us. However if claims are found to be unfounded or conspired then the book should be thrown at those involved whether that by the player or the club. Making false claims of racist abuse is as equally reprehensible as racist behaviour itself.

Racism is too serious an issue to be manipulated by second rate PR companies.

  6. The MA can will get kicked down the road. Their attitude as it has been since the summer and Sept 2, is double down. Kent came in as did 2 or three other first XI options. The absolutely do not give one iota, to the sfa, FFP or anything like that. Stop this 10IAR stuff as they see it, and they can patch the Holding company, the company vehicle, and whatever else, they want to call it.

Their attitude will be we did it I the interested of Scottish sport to end an unhealthy dominance, etc etc, they’re back, they’ll have 55 matching tattoos and all sorts and ably and publicly related, by every Red Top Hack and illiterate former player that has a microphone.

RIFC strategy is simply known as a Long Firm….. the Celtic Board must be able to see that a mile off. DD must revert to 2016 and the Hampden reaction, or 2018 New Year or the way that board celebrated in the directors box at Full time on the 29th and as NFL said hold on to that feeling.

Sometimes the criminal cartels, simply are uninterested and leverage of prestige, money, accolades, and respect, they just want to see the world burn and all their enemies in it…….

Celtic should not expect this too be a fore gone conclusion the lunatics are running the alyssum and they are hoping it’s more than just themselves that will catch fire in this bonfire of extreme vanities.

    • Why should they care? If they go bust and die then Rangers the third just rise up and a compliant SFA and media start the same lie club. There really are no downsides unless you’re a creditor. And it looks like the only creditors are other clubs, banks and face painters again. This is why the resolution 12 people care. This is why we have AJ coming out and rubbishing the notion that Sevco are not Rangers- it’s laying groundwork. To those who steer the ship in Govan stopping 10iar is the only important thing. Why on Earth would they care about insolvency? It’s not their money. And they’ll soon be back at a board position on the new but somehow the same Rangers.

Scottish football absolutely effed it in 2012 and made financial irresponsibility consequenceless (for the right clubs).

  7. New year, new decade, same old nonsense. 1. They have a superior manager than us. 2. The Judge in the SD case has already stated that the amount of damages WILL NOT stop sevco in the day to day running of the club. 3. King, although moving on, is very close, as far as the zombies are concerned and therefore the smsm too, to becoming a “legend” 4. Morelos WILL go for big bucks and, and, at this time the value of their squad is increasing while ours is decreasing see 1 as to the reason why. Personally i would rather know what’s happening at our club. 1. How did Lennon react when the players ditched his awful long ball tactic in the away game at Motherwell and does he still have, if he ever did, the dressing room? 2. Who identified the waste of 10 million on Julien and bolingoli…who btw DOES NOT have a cult following, and does Lennon rate these 2 players or, as you reported phil in the aftermath of the cluj disaster, not rate them, if Lennon doesn’t rate them is he being made to play them by an ‘unseen hand’? 3. How much will Celtic have to scale back next season if gerrards team prevail this season? These are just some of the things i, as a Celtic supporter, would rather be reading about.

― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Since the people sing about “up to their knees” etc. the quote is not to much.

Everyday people come on forums like this and succinctly identify problems that need to be rectified with the Celtic team. The only people who don’t seem to know or care are the management and board. Here are a few.

    1. Celtic are great if the opposition put 11 men behind the ball
    2. Attack Celtic and they crumble.
    3. As someone put it recently, the midfield are lightweight and “couldn’t tackle a fish supper”. Get them on weightlifting etc.
    4. Forrest hides against Sevco causing the right back ( e.g. Frimpong and Lustig) to patrol the whole of the right side and get caught out of position.
5 Any ball whipped into the opposition’s 18 yard box is seldom met with anyone.
    6. Celtic set pieces inc corners are no threat. unlike the opposition’s.
7 Ajer is a talented player but the proverbial “Wh*te man who can’t jump” and should be moved forward.
    8. No-one on the goal line at corners, a tactic that saved Sevco a couple of times.
9 The biggest crime is that they do not run “off the ball” with no attempt attempt to lose their marker. Especially at “throw ins”.
    10. You get the idea. .

Someone recently laid bare Sevco’s whole game plan involving Aribo and Morelos. i know little about tactics so it was informative for me but Lennon and Kennedy have no excuse.
I genuinely believe, were we to play the match again the tactics would be the same.

As an aside, lay off Alastair Johnston, he may have great material but he doesn’t claim to be Kevin Bridges.

    • I agree with your points above. Regarding point 9 in particular, I think more people should observe how poor we are at throw ins both for and against us.

      Reply
    • In addition to your points Charlie, can I add –

No.3 We need a digger & McGinn was the one we let get away

No.11 Taylor is the ONLY LB at the club.
If the manager & coaching staff can’t see that Boli is a liability positionally who pulls the rest of the defence out of position to cover for him, then they should be relieved of their jobs

No.12 Sinclair HAS to at least be in the squad (62 goals in 165 apps) that’s a goal every 2.6 games that Lennon has decided we don’t need

No.12 Guys not contributing eg Griffiths, Bayo, Rogic, Shved, Kouassi, etc –
How do we rectify those situations – arrange matches, loans, sell or release ?

Conclusion : Looking at the remaining fixtures we can’t afford any slip-ups and in all probability we need a minimum of 4 points from the 2 remaining Rangers games.

    • As the someone (or perhaps one of them I can’t assume nobody else saw it) who mentioned the Morelos/Aribo gameplan can I just say you’re 100% spot on in these points. I’d personally drop Forrest for Sevco games and play Ajer in holding midfield to give a bit of bite- dependant on us getting another (good) CB. Honestly though, just having Ntcham in there from the starton the 29th would’ve probably made enough of a difference.

  9. Let me be the first to say , the Ashley court case will not be decided this month. It will be kicked down the road, as the judge doesn’t want to be the one who gives out a figure that will destroy them.
Just like last time when he stated he thought they would have come to some agreement. There is not one single judge willing to go against the mental hoard that will be sending letter bombs and other equally dangerous things through his letter box.

    • This matters not a jot, since all hearings have been conducted in the courts in London. The first sign of any IED’s or bullets sent to either the presiding judges and/or the court building itself will result in a full and thorough investigation by the Met’s Anti-terrorism squad, and quite possibly with assistance from MI5. I don’t know whether is is biologically possible to shove a Davey Lamp up a rectal orifice or not, but you can bet that these guys will have a damned-good go at it!!

Hopefully, this WILL be kicked down the road another wee bit. Let me explain why…

Right now, they are strapped for cash. They are maxed out. There is no money there to pay Ashley. However, if a final decision is made in the summer, you can bet that Ashley’s lawyers will apply to have next season’s ST money ring-fenced, because there will also be the small matter of recompensing Hummel, as well as other they will owe money to. In that scenario, I foresee them having an insolvency event – again!!

Sales of National Lottery scratch cards are about to go through the roof down Ibrox way!!

    • Normally, that’s what most would expect.

But, this Court hearing on the 17th is in London – so RIFC doesn’t have ‘home advantage’ !

Still, wouldn’t be surprised if King comes up with some old bollox to delay, and delay…

All we need now is for the Celtic board to top it off with some class signings before the first ball is kicked in earnest in a couple of week’s time.

A very Happy New Year to everyone…… and let’s all go for 9 in a row.

  15. The new share issue, timed just prior to him stepping down, was always designed to pay him off. Any *Rangers fan that thought otherwise wasn’t paying attention (although we already kinda’ knew that)! The only other way it could be done was to find a rich sugar daddy to right the financial ship and that wasn’t happening.

As I’ve mentioned before, it may actually work to their benefit that Morelos doesn’t get a big enough bid. Without him they wouldn’t be where they are today and quite frankly, I think their title challenge would melt away if he were to go in this window.
