Yet another reality check for Sevco

So today things got real on Planet Fitba.

It is a strange place when the team with the best players wins a football match and it was the least predicted outcome.

Imagine a foreign traveller had been in Fair Caledonia over the last week and consuming the output of the Stenography Corps.

Today would have come as something of a shock.

Look at these score predictions in the Daily Radar.

Amusing, no?

Mark McDougall’s brave call of a 4-0 victory for Sevco was unlikely given that Mr Gerrard’s men only managed two attempts on goal in 96 minutes.

David McCarthy got the scoreline correct, except that he thought the home side would prevail.

I’m sure that you get the idea, dear reader.

For the avoidance of doubt, there are several honourable exceptions in the Fitba Fourth estate and Spencey is definitely one of them.

This was his tweet after full time.

It is never a good look to intrude upon private grief.

However, I tend to make an exception for racists.

It is undeniable that the Herrenvolk home support at the Edmiston Drive Volkstaat was expecting a home victory today.

Within their quintessentially British bubble they had convinced each other that the tide was turning in Glasgow.

If they had any doubt that their hubris was misplaced then all they had to do was to keep taking the tabloids.

As a measure of their confidence today the home crowd had some fascist artwork complete with, what appears to be, a dead Celtic player.

The grim reality for them is that the champions started the match with a patched-up defence.

When Nir Bitton was unable to continue through injury in the second half he was substituted by Moritz Bauer.

In the run-up to the match, the Stenography Corps had convinced themselves and their dignified demographic that the Hoops really needed Jack Bauer!

With the Israeli hobbling off it was a back four of derby debutants.

Celtic will have more serious examinations in the league this year I’m sure of it.

If this is a squad game then a player like Jonny Hayes is value-added.

The Dubliner does what it says on the tin, which is “Nuthin Fancy”.

He never disappoints n terms of energy, honesty and full-blooded commitment.

When he slotted home the coup de grâce I admit that my thoughts drifted to Croker.

In the post-match, the man from Armagh was bursting with pride.

Incidentally, if he had not travelled to Britain to pursue a soccer career he almost certainly would have won an All Ireland with the Orchard County at the start of the Millenium.

Conversely, Mr Let’s Go and his gumtree galacticos now have a couple of weeks to face up to the fact that their very best this season is likely to be second best.

The champions, on the other hand, have match winning players to come back into contention from injury (e.g. Tom Rogic).

There is also an exciting new addition to the squad in Mohamed Elyounoussi.

He might well prove to the Paddy Roberts loan deal for this season.

Of course, the seven year old club has already won the Close Season Cup and the Training Camp Cup.

They will do relatively well during this campaign until they come up against the champions.

They’re simply the second best and today underlined that.

  1. Perhaps you could get in touch with your Exec Lounge inhabitant and see if those two players are now acceptable to Lenny?
Also the togetherness of the squad at full time was there for all to see; loved Big Chris’ assertion that they are like a family. A family will quarrel but they stand together when it counts.

  2. Just watching the game again on Celtic TV. After Ryan Jack’s studs showing challenge on Bolingoli, you can clearly hear Boli being racially abused – 35.54mins. Surprised that the Celtic TV commentators didn’t pick up on it.

  3. Hey, Mr Anti-Racism, how’s life in one of the whitest places in the western world? You must really, really hate there. No culturally enriched vibrancy, just drab, white, cultureless Ireland. Maybe you should move your family to some housing scheme in Dublin? You’d absolutely love it there. Apart from the ‘Dubs’ of course, the white ones I mean.

  4. Phil, ….. more anti Dub stuff? you can fuck off with that shit, you rightfully call out rangers fans for their knuckle dragging antics and yet you continue with this stuff, have a quick look at the map, Donegal is about as far away from Kerry as you can get but of course that doesn’t matter, as long as it’s anyone but Dublin. This is tiresome childish fuckwittery, if you can’t or won’t enjoy the excellence of the Dublin team that’s fine, nobody is asking you to support them but don’t make a gobshite of youself by posting that juvenile nonsense, you are far too clever for that. Wise up.

    • Touched a nerve I see, every single country were cheering on kerry yesterday. It’s not anti Dublin. If kerry were going for their 5th all Ireland in a row then even county in Ireland would be cheering on Dublin. You are either to stupid to know this or you are a typical Dub with no interest in football until ye start winning. you were probably watching it in a pub then 10 minutes from time asking the bar man to put on the English soccer. There Is no anti Dublin that’s just in your silly little heads. No one in Ireland wants to see the same county winning every year. It gets boring and makes it uneventful. Get over yourselfs

      • Of course its anti-Dublin you moron, its got nothing to do with 5 in a row either, clowns like you cheer on every opposition team whenever Dublin are playing and have done as far back as I can remember and no I wasn’t in the pub and I didn’t ask for the English football, I was at home watching the Celtic match and then the Dublin match but thanks for telling me I wasn’t and by the way there is over a million people in Ireland wanting to see the same county win every year and we will for the foreseeable future, so stick that with your anti Dub nonsense and try getting over that .

        • You have a hissy fit just because Phil was cheering on Kerry yet it’s me a Phil that have the problem. Ffs Dublin have racked in almost 40 million in sponsorships over the last 10 years almost 20 million from the GAA alone, 10 million for AIB and another 10 from their 14 other sponsors. While Kerry like every other county have had around 2 million total in the same time period. Yet Dublin think it’s an achievement by winning a game while they are basically a professional team. Kerry have been trying to get new facilities that cost 6 million. They have been trying to get this money together for over 4 years now. Whereas Dublin have money to burn on top of the range sports facilities and all right on their doorstep. Donegal Mayo Sligo kerry Cork all have players working in dublin. They have to finish work and make their way back to their home county twice a week, then get back into Dublin after midnight for work the next day. All this while using last century facilities. Yet you think it’s an achievement for Dublin to win an all Ireland ffs you are a clown. As phil rightly points out about Celtic, having more money than everyone else is an advantage having top of the range facilities right at your doorstep while every other county struggle to even buy a new treadmill. Enjoy your hollow victories while the GAA pump millions into your county. Ye could go on to win 8 in a row but who cares its professional’s against Amateurs.

          • It wasn’t a hissy fit and I couldn’t care less who supports who, it’s the anti Dublin rhetoric on a public platform which gives creedence to anyone any anything except Dublin and it’s inhabitants, I’ve seen, heard and witnessed this in almost every county in Ireland, when it comes from individuals I couldn’t care less because in my opinion those clowns aren’t worth the oxygen they waste but when it’s given validation from someone as talented and clever as Phil, I have a problem with that, perhaps he meant it as casual banter, I doubt if he went out to offend anyone. As regards funds and sponsorship….. I don’t make the rules any I assume every county would be delighted if they were the recipients. by your thinking it’s only an achievement if one of the other 31 counties wins an All Ireland?…. and I’m a clown? we probably will win 8 in a row, I’m not that bothered either way, football is my thing, but who cares ?you ask, it appears very much like you do.

  5. Great game, great result , great feeling as the media have to revise their early season appraisal of things. These sort of Monday’s are just the best!

My only disappointment is that there’s no more club football for two whole weeks…. although the prolonged gloating period will be made use of.

I do also fear that while Celtic have a large number of players on international duty, Sevco will take the initiative and add an ‘International Break Trophy’ title to their early haul.

Sadly… a ‘Not Actual Football’ Treble will be hard to stop.

    Such is life!

  6. Questions being asked from the blue side as to why the Europa group stage revenues are not being spent on bringing Kent to Ibrox on a permanent basis, it’s only £7/8 million?
There seems to be no realisation that the Europa monies are needed to cover the monthly payroll and bills.
With no sign of significant incoming transfer monies just how will the Close Bros loan be repaid and/or the Sports Direct bill?

    • Well, well, according to Sky Kent is on his way to Ibrox for a £7m permanent transfer.
      Bang goes the Europa revenues.
Starting to wonder if Stevie G is ‘investing’ part of his own considerable fortune in the deal?
Considering Gerrard”s lack of affinity with wingers after yesterday’s team selection, does he really need to add another to Jones, Barker, Stewart, Hastie, Grezda?

  7. A huge statement of intent made today. Downside now is, the bulk of our squad are off to play international football somewhere or another. A lot of them will spend many hours travelling and risk injury in games. Other than Jack, I think pretty much the entire ibrokes squad get to put their feet up for a fortnight.

  8. The Ibrox song repertoire generally excludes anything related to football. Small wonder they cling to the dark and grotesque “We Urr Da Peepul” chant. A slogan that sounds like something straight from the Third Reich propaganda department. Our football hierarchy still appear blase about its warped connotations. In any other European country it would be deemed offensive and hate crime. UEFA should be made aware that it’s in the ‘Billy Boys’ category for blatant racism.

Losing KT was a big blow, we get it

Give everyone time now and our support

Today was the footballing display of champions against wanna be challengers.

Celtic were immense today, nervous before it,but never felt they werw going to trouble us once the game kicked off
    Gumtree Galacticos 🤣

    • The pundits in Scotland are hopeless. I took Celtic to win both 1st and 2nd half, the easier bet was a straight win for the champions. Long may it continue.
Ps we should be on around 15iar if it wasn’t for the SFA hunnery granting licences when they shouldn’t have.

  13. Phil,

Personally, I always think that it’s best to go into a Glasgow derby feeling nervous rather than cocky. Today was no exception. However, I thought we were immense. We didn’t allow them to bully us off the park as with last season’s visits to the Debt Star.

It was very telling that their first shot on goal was in the 59th minute. There really was only one team in it.

As for Bolingoli, I thought he played a blinder. He’s going to be alright.

Good to see that More-or-Less has still not broken his cherry and the look on the face of Mr ‘Let Me Go” was priceless. oh, and the Jones sending off was so that tomorrow’s headlines read ‘Celtic defeat 10 man Ran*ers”. They’re so transparent.

Now where did I leave that Immensely Proud imoji ?

    Hail and Hail again !

    • No. The sending off was for an absolutely shocking tackle. Madden actually had a fine game. I’ve worried about having him refereeing our matches in the past but the last two games he’s been in charge of against Sevco he’s shown them three reds on the field, a red in the tunnel and a retrospective red. Credit where credit is due. He had a fine match today.

I don’t want to hear, “Jack should have walked.” because the reality is, Calmac should have too.

  14. Second all over the park, Jack should get cited for feet up challenge on Bolingoli, fucking disgrace but can see why neither Madden or Linesman saw it (Incidentally it was said linesman that gave the red to Jones and two offsides to Defoe)

Brown stepped up, McGregor policed the mid well, Ntcham brought on a bit of class, Christie was an engine and the back 5 all performed really well (Bitton was not missed when he went off)

I read all the prediction’s and was a wee bit shocked, well till we went on the park and in the first ten my nerves settled to severe anxiety.

Now, hun, back in yir hole
