A question to the SFA about the death of Rangers in 2012

The death of Rangers FC in 2012 has left many “legacy issues” on Planet Fitba.

I had rather naïvely hoped that the local media would have been pursuing these matters ferociously.

Ok, ok, now I admit that was silly of me…

My research into the circumstances surrounding the death of the Ibrox club remains ongoing.

So, yesterday I sent this question to those nice people at the Scottish Football Association:

Here it is:

What date in 2009 was the SFA served with a third party notice under schedule 36 of the Finance Act (2008) by HMRC regarding Rangers FC?

Essentially, I’m trying to piece together who knew what and when apropos what became known as the “Big Tax Case”.

Of course, it was that contingent liability that made Rangers unsellable to anyone other than a billionaire with wealth off the radar.

If the folks at the SFA get back to me then I will publish their response here.

  1. Terence Nova, A ‘marathon’ session at the pub, indeed. Back in my day, that constituted 26 pints of the black stuff and 3 kebabs. Do the same rules still apply? Just curious like. HH

  2. If EUFA decide to do the decent thing by the Huns, and close Ibrox for a Europa League group game, I reckon that would cost the cash-strapped wee diddy club, at least a hundred grand. A serious wedge of dosh to lose, if you don’t have any in the first place.HH

  3. Great result last night…an away European win. Who would have thought it? Pity about the crowd trouble though. The word on the street is that it was Hammerby ‘fans’ that infiltrated the Celtic support by buying tickets directly from Stockholm. We’ll see…sounds a bit like The Huns line of defence after The Peterloo Massacre: ‘It wiznae uz mister, it wiz Chelsea fans, wae Norn Iron. accents, wearing Rainjurz taps. Honest mister Prosecutor, we’re no guilty, an aw that’. The truth will out, though.

Wee message to our supporters going to Sunday’s game. Keep your wits about you, and watch your backs…win, lose or draw. As for those nice upstanding Green Brigade chappies I say this:Stay the f**k away from Ibrox and be good chaps. Go and watch the game in the Bristol Bar in Duke st, with all the other f*****g Huns. C’mon The Tic. HH

  4. Just back from a marathon session at the Pub.
We watched the boys record a tremendous victory in Stockholm….followed by Sevco scraping through against a really piss poor team.
    As far as we went…
Some really nice controlled stuff at times…topped off with some smashin’ goals.
My mates will tell you…I’m not James Forrest’s biggest fan….but tonight he was terrific.
His opening goal for us was sensational.
The ” downside ” to the victory, however, is our defending. I don’t like criticising Celtic players…but whoever thought that Bolingoli was up to Celtic standard need their head looked…He is …bowfin’…and a complete waste of money.
If he starts on Sunday…I will be amazed.
We are also still too open at the back and better teams will exploit that.
Bitton is not a commanding CB and Ajer’s injury is a huge blow.
However the record books will show a 4-1 away victory and that will do for me.
    As for them….
All I can say is…Legia Warsaw defended very well….their middle to front stuff was not bad…but up front they were shoite.
They had the two clearest cut chances on the night.
Two different players were one on one with McGregor…and both hit it straight at him.
Anyway…I never predict scores against them…
    All I’ll say is…
I hope we play the way we played tonight…and that they do too.
    Bring it on.

  5. What do you make of the former head of the SFA stating that he done NOTHING to stop bigotry when he was in charge. He also stated that bigotry sells and he was told to “stay out of it, you have a job to do”
Now it would be interesting to see if the SFA get asked any questions about that.

  6. Phil…I have been told by my source that you are about to receive the following reply from the SFA.

    ” Dear Sir,
We have been advised by a Third party that you have written to us, expressing concerns on certain issues, pertaining to Rangers FC.
We confirm that no such letter has been received and you will therefore appreciate that we are unable to answer your queries.
We do,however, suggest you try writing to us again…to enable us to respond in the manner we just did.
    Yours in Scottish Football.”

  7. Aye, best of luck with that one Phil.
The wagons have been circled in the full knowledge that those who perpetrated the fraud and those involved in the subsequent cover up should be facing criminal charges.

    • A double circle with a crocodile infested moat between them.

Enough spotlight on sevco from UEFA though and someone in the brass there might start to have some serious thoughts about what exactly the SFA are doing about it.

  8. Did Mr King ever pass the £444k payment to the relevant party by 4pm the other week? Not a sausage in the media about whether the transaction took place.

  9. Phil – I’m not saying that the SFA won’t get back to you, but if I hold my breath for long enough, this Halloween I’ll be guiding as a Smurf!!
