It was entirely appropriate that Sevco issue a statement today after the announcement by UEFA of sanctions on the club for the racism of their fans.
However, it shouldn’t have been THIS effort.

You can read the entire statement here.
“UEFA has ruled that a group of Rangers supporters were guilty of racist behaviour – which includes sectarian singing – during the match against St Joseph’s at Ibrox on July 18.
Our supporters have been asked repeatedly by the Club to refrain from indulging in this, and other forms of unacceptable behaviour. Sadly, the warnings have fallen on deaf ears and the actions of this minority will cause the Club and the majority of good and decent Rangers supporters to pay a heavy penalty.”
My emphasis.
Of course, it would be doubly awkward is the seven-year-old club was about to be cited for the klan’s karaoke last night in Poland.
I have reason to believe, from an impeccable source, that this could well happen.
For the avoidance of doubt, I have submitted a question apropos this matter to the UEFA Media office.
I have also emailed the following question to the Scottish Football Association:
“Will the SFA be putting out a statement on the UEFA sanction of The Rangers Football Club for the ‘racist behaviour of its supporters’ (UEFA statement)?”
In the Sevco statement the Convict Chairman came up with this cracker:
“Rangers is a club open to all and we will continue to convey this message at every opportunity through our Everyone Anyone initiative.
“Rangers has players and supporters from many religions, cultures and backgrounds but we are one and the same when we gather to support our club. If any supporter cannot accept that then Rangers is not the club for them”.
My emphasis.
Now, if the Ibrox Herrenvolk take Dave at his word then there will be no need for UEFA to order a stadium closure as it will be empty anyway!
Apparently, this poor young chap, peace be upon him, doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of the word“racism”.

I have a clue for him.
Racism, anti-Irish racism, is in the very DNA of the matchday experience at Ibrox.
Moreover, just because those prejudicial attitudes are extant among the great and good in Fair Caledonia we Irish have our gallant allies in Europe.
So here is some free advice from a helpful Fenian in Donegal:
You are now in UEFA’s crosshairs for racism and discriminatory chanting.
If you keep it up Ibrox will be empty on European nights.
Just like your racist Prime Minister your kulchurr carries no weight in Europe.

Nidge, Sturgeon will do the square root of f@@k all to confront the Huns. After all, this is the same party whose leader at the time, advocated saving the original-and worst-Huns, despite all their cheating lying shenanigans.
There’s more chance of the lovely Arlene Foster speaking out against THEM. I’m sure the Fermanagh Beauty would like to do her bit for cross-community relations…then again, maybe not. Think I may have to book an urgent appointment for Specsavers. HH
The Irish government, instead of turning a
blind eye, they should be carpeting, looking for answers from Nicola Sturgeon as to why the Klan is allowed by the police, soccer authorities to engage in racist sentiment directed at the Irish diaspora in Scotland, week after week during the football season.
Any other government would be demanding immediate action.
NO government, Scottish or Westminster, has done anything about it since the inception of the original Ibrox club. That was almost 150 years ago, so to lay the blame entirely at the feet of the SNP, relatively new to any real power, is more than a bit unfair. Politicians of every colour have avoided this poisoned chalice like the plague and I suspect will continue to do so.
There is no surprise that Maxwell and the cowards at Hampden have no comment to make on the UEFA charge and ruling.
Perhsps he’s waiting on instructions from Ibrox as to what is acceptable to them in any statement issued by the governing body.
Maxwell has to go.
Chocolate, fireguard, as much use as, are words that spring to mind.
Ok they have there problems with the minority at away games so do we.
Let’s stop the tit for tat and out this nonsense in Scotland
Minority, thats part of the problem , until people start telling the truth by saying its the vast majority that are singing there bigoted racist shite then it will never change, , people in the media and in authority are terrified to say this , get your head out the sand and calling them out on it ,
Graham sending that message out jeez!!! what a hypocrit. The Klanbase rock lets get Uefa at the next game with Celtic hear the bile in full flow. Lawell can see to that to fek them off..!!!
Did Show Racism the Red Carpet use the same phrasing as the Sevco press release, “a group of Rangers fans were guilty?”
Your best article yet. I laughed out loud ,genuinely, when you wrote “it would be empty anyway” brilliant
No help from your SFA PALS act
This is the same club that will have the famine song blaring out the PA when the teams are in the tunnel next Sunday. Just to ramp up the racism ahead of kick-off. They did it last season. So when it’s sanctioned by the powers that be at ibrox, what hope have they got. Hypocritical, duplicitous, and God knows how many other adjectives, don’t do that statement today justice. Hell mend them.
It’s interesting that the UEFA delegate is able to hear the sectarian chants but the SFA and Police Scotland can’t. A strange one indeed!
Aye! As can the thousands watching on television and listening on radio hear it.
Comfortably Numb, no real surprise to me that the SFA and the cops cannot hear the sectarian chants. Sure they’re too busy joining in the community singing to hear them. HH
In the words of another real journalist Phil “a permanent embarrassment and occasional disgrace. The new club same as the old club…..
A somewhat ironic statement from a club who boast an orange strip in their kit bag. They just don’t seem to see the connection. The only thing they see is the £ signs from the sale of this sectarian monstrosity.
At the Sevco v Midtjylland the famine song could be heard loudly throughout the game, are the sanctions anything to do with that?
Didn’t Chris lose his short-lived blazer for a joke about Muslims?
Hatred is in their DNA without it they have nothing.
Someone should start making youtube videos with subtitles of them in full voice and send the link to EUFA 🙂
you would have to attend their matches to do that
You wouldn’t need to watch YouTube as they are never off bt sports sky or the BBC in their quest to give them as much money as possible
Someone with the technical know-how could probably do it off a TV screen on any match day. I wish I had that technical know-how but I simply don’t.
….or use a drone ..?
.. could be done using a drone ..
Would likely be banned by youtube for violation of their policies.
