A feast of football at Parkhead contrasts with the ugliness at Rugby Park

Well, I did say that Celtic folk should savour the moment and Flag Day was a genuine feast.

The unfurling ceremony was poignant with the widows of Stevie Chalmers and Billy McNeill jointly doing the honours.

The match itself was a clear statement of intent that Lennon’s second spell as Celtic manager will be full of high energy attacking verve on the field of play.

In the post-match interview, the Armagh man characterised the performance of his team as “perfect” and I will leave it at that.

It worth noting the players who did not play yesterday for a variety of reasons.

This points to the resources that the Irishman will have to call on during the title campaign.

Of course, there are days when it doesn’t all click into place and you have to find another way to get over the line.

My American cousins call that “winning ugly”.

Of course, that term takes on an entirely different meaning when it comes to the Ibrox klanbase.

Yesterday at Rugby Park there was the entire smorgasbord of issues.

Firstly a barrier was breached before the match.

Then adherence to the “Everyone Anyone” campaign lasted only a few minutes before the Fascist song sheet was brought out.

I cannot think of another club in Britain that lauds the memory of someone like Ku Klux Klan member Billy Fullerton?

Therefore, it is little wonder that the Ibrox franchise is so attractive to the Fascist right throughout the UK.

There is no doubt that the Brexit vote has augmented a blood and soil zeitgeist in Britain.

It is a public discourse that Billy Fullerton and his razor-wielding charges would have approvingly recognised.

It is clear that past of the 2016 referendum vote to leave the European Union was, in part, fuelled by a longing for their lost pre-eminent place in the world.

There is no doubt that Sevco, from the dressing room to the stands, is with the programme.

Apparently, a last-minute winner on the first match of the season justifies a pitch invasion for The People.

Moreover, injuring a person in a wheelchair is somehow acceptable collateral damage to the Herrenvolk celebrations of the klan.

Fair play to the emergency services for their prompt reaction to the collapse of the roof.

One of the away support who was in the disabled section hit out at the danger that he and his fellow wheelchair users had been put in.

It was another of those “winning friends on the journey” episodes.

I’m told that the match delegate yesterday was relatively new in the job, about a year in post.

However, he is a retired senior police officer from Glasgow.

Consequently, he should have enough grey hairs to recognise that collapse the roof of a disabled section should go in his report.

I know his identity, but I have no wish to make him famous with the klan.

For the avoidance of doubt, nothing will happen.

There will be a polite exchange of letters between the SPFL and the basket of assets.

The Serious Professional will reply that the scenes were regrettable and that the club is doing everything it can to address the issue.

That, dear reader, will be the end of the matter.

The experienced match delegate I spoke to say that Conor Goldson and several of his teammates should have been booked in the immediate aftermath of the winning goal for leaving the field of play.

Failure to show them yellow cards yesterday is probably the first Honest Mistake of the new campaign.

I suspect that there will be many more such inexplicable officiating errors in the next 37 league matches.

All Celtic have to do in the face of such genuine errors is to remember why the club was established in the first place.

A socially excluded community came together to provide real assistance to the needy.

Despite widespread hostility and xenophobia from the native British, we prevailed.

Today a club that was established by Irish immigrants sits proudly at the top of Scottish football.

There are many in powerful positions in Scottish society who would love that to change.

However, Neil Francis Lennon isn’t minded to facilitate them.

In twelve months time, it could be flag day again at Paradise.

One more after that and the roof will fall in on the emotional well-being of the klan.

Have a great week.

  1. Daily Record on the ball as usual with their update on Scottish transfers in the window.
‘Rangers will want to hold onto Morelos and Tavernier despite interest from England.’
What interest is that? Apart from some ‘reported’ £3/4m bid for the Colombian man/child Gerrard has stated that there has been no approaches for either player.
With the English window closing this week the Ibrox club’s fate in Europe will be unknown as the Danes await.
Selling either before the window closes will bring a torrent of abuse down on the board from a support already clearly on the edge….see Killie Sunday for evidence.
The alternative is keep them on board and hope for the best with European progression.
That’s not much of a strategy with Sports Direct and Close Brothers on the sidelines watching events unfold.
If, big if, say Morelos was sold for a £20m pot of gold this week how quickly would Ashley’s legal beagles have the first downpayment set aside to cover his bill?
That in turn would set alarm bells ringing at Close Bros who no doubt would prefer to have their monies plus interest back rather than a fire sale of the secured assets.
Things should be a little clearer by the end of the week wrt Europe and the transfer window.

  2. I’m sure once the Compliance officer has a look at all footage 4players that ran into the crowd will all receive a yellow card sure or are they going to allow this which will set out a president for other fans .SFA get this write we don’t need this sh**

    • There will be no SFA action against Rangers, their fans or their players.
Maxwell has an opportunity to break cover, and his silence, by slapping them down because if he doesn’t then matters will only get worse.
Does someone need to be seriously hurt before the SFA step up to the plate.
Once again Maxwell’s leadership qualities will be called into question.
How many applicants were actually interviewed for the CEO post?
Serious question as I can’t remember seeing other interested parties names which given the salary at stake was bound to attract some heavy hitters.

  3. I’m going to paint a wee scenario here. Within the next four/five weeks we qualify for the CL and win all our domestic games. This would obviously include a win at the crumbledome. Sevco crash out of Europe and they have lost to us.

Opinions please, on SG’s chances of survival and the mood of the Klan on both him and the board.

Personally I don’t think they could afford to sack him.

  4. Most of the salient points have been covered, both in the article, and in the comments. However, no-one has said anything about the heroic actions of the Sevco supporters coming to the aid of their players who were clearly being violently confronted by wheelchair using thugs in Chelsea tops. This glaring omission has to be corrected in order to maintain a balanced view of the events at the end of yesterday’s contest. Unicorns and squirrels could also be seen lurking in the background.

    • BBC say that Rangers are stating it is Kilmarnocks ticketing system that is at fault!
Kilmarnock state that entry was slow due to having to check for pyrotechnic
      Searchs
Will Rangers never accept responsibility for their fans behaviour
Next it will be Kilmarnock fans singing Rangers songs after 17 mins
Come on MSM this is not acceptable
Any other club invasion would have a warning of points being deducted
Also players would receive yellow cards for leaving the pitch

  5. Tip of the iceberg that roof collapse, the klan members will do a damn sight worse this season than destroying a mere shelter for the handicapped.Patience.
The sfa will aid them in EVERY way it can along with the media etc, however,sg’s charges had better improve, and be quick about it,If Celtic perform like that for a month or two we could get a march on sg’s duffers that could see us well clear, maybe even by Xmas, that’s wishful on my part. But from what I saw of them yesterday they will struggle to keep up and stay within touching distance, they simply cannot afford early slip-ups,it really that simple, although slip-ups are in his 🧬 DNA….

    The league has only just begun,long road ahead,no doubt,but confident?… YES;VERY🇮🇪

    Thanks Phil

Let’s also hope that those in positions of power within Scotland DO THEIR JOBS PROPERLY WHEN DEALING with fellow klan members and supporters. As far as what they want or indeed get,I have no interest in their wants nor needs …just do the job your paid for regardless of what team any perpetrators may follow, there will be plenty opportunities in the season ahead, provided of course Scotland’s finest do their job properly too.😉

  6. Have I missed something here, their new initiative seems to have fallen on deaf ears. Was I the only one to hear their Earnest bout of sectarian singing. Perhaps their initiative incorporates anyone but not Irish Catholics

    • No Irish, no Catholics, no Irish Catholics, no SNP voters, none of the ‘enemies’ that tried to do them down, though SDM seems to have escaped their ire despite his leading role.
They don’t sing ‘No one likes us, we don’t care’ just to exercise their throats.

I’ve bookmarked this site so I can return and read the collection of future diatribes and fantasy as Rangers get closer towards a world record 55th title, I’m a sucker for a good old fashioned paranoia and rage induced Timplosion!

    • While you’re here, trawl through the archives – particularly 2011, and 2012. This was around the time The Messiah, aka Craig “Motherwell Billionaire” White rode in on his trusty white steed. White, of course, saved the original Rangers FC from certain death, aided and abetted by that managerial genius that is Alistair McCoist…

Oh – hang on… I’m getting confused between the real world, and a parallel universe!!

    • Wully – you talk here about “alternative facts… either something is factually, or is fictional. An example of this would be:

RANGERS DIED IN 2012 – FACT.

PRESENT-DAY “RANGERS” IS THE SAME CLUB – FICTION, AN UNTRUTH, A LIE, A FABRICATION.

Since you are a new club, I admire your “Going for 55” campaign. Let’s assume that you win the league this season (I know, I know!), you will be entitled to sing “hello, hello… wanninarow!”. Also, assuming you win every season thereafter, you will achieve the magical “55” around 2074! Best of luck with that one!!

And here’s tae 55,big fat dj will almost certainly hit that 55(stone)mark on his bathroom scales …no problem.

See you in May 2020 for the title party 🥳 HAHAHAHAHAHA😂

    • If Rangers, or Sevco to give them their original name, survive long enough to win a title, it will be their first. Their main target this season is to still be in existence come the tail end of next May, when they will be an eight years old tribute act to a dead club, watching on jealously as Broony lifts yet another Scottish Cup to go with the league title secured two months previously.

Forget journalism William. Stick to fantasy sites like Rangers Noise. You can read their comforting lies and avoid unpleasant truths like the SD High Court Judgement.

      Reply
  8. No worries, Ibrox noise has identified the 3rd striker that is required to back up Morelos and Defoe.
Take your pick…..Balotelli, Wellbeck or Sturridge.
What are these guys on? Are they so stupid that after reading the full SD judgement handed down by the judge, then perused the Club 1872 subsidiary interpretation, they prefer to go with the latter option.
There’s only so far you can kick the can down the road. Goodness knows King has been there already in South Africa and had to pay millions to prevent the South African judgement system banging him up for a long time.
When the ST money runs out, pre Xmas, what then?
No merchandising revenue, pissed off sponsors, Close Bros on alert, and SD quietly putting together their bill.
Apart from that everything’s just dandy.

    • Joseph, for the most part I enjoy reading your comments, but sometimes you really do have such flights of fancy. I’m going to quote yourself back to you. “After reading the FULL SD judgement”. Do you see what I’m getting at here? Do you really think that many of them actually read the full judgement? Do you think they have that much staying power? Of a concentration span? If they did manage to wade (no pun intended) all the way through it, how many of them do you think have the intellect to actually understand it? It’s so much easier for them to read Club 1872 statements and get the “truth” there. Consider yourself suitably chastised.

Oh aye, another thing. You forgot to add Hummell and Elite into their financial fuck up.

Keep going Joseph I enjoy your stuff.

  9. So the “honest mistakes’ have begun, as too have the media’s “Klan cables”

Celtic will need GOALS this season like never before, 7 is a good start, and I dare say we’ll have our fair share of winning ugly. However, we have done this year after year, Hearts, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Motherwell away, noticeable results.! When you do it 5 or 6 times in a season, you can say it. – IS championship winning form, and nothing in the Klubs previous 12 months suggests that it is the standard practice.

However, a closer look into their 90 minutes, their rank and file, are coming to realise that actually they are one heavy defeat away from serious examination, (they are no longer a Warbola or Pedro team) to which they CAN NOT HIDE! ….. The media’s stilts are and will begin to wobble. The Lennon affect is not as bad as they thought it’d be.

“Underwhelming”, “Dire”, “We’ll need a lot more than that….” just a few paradoxical superlatives, offered from the Klan in the aftermath of their, “massive improvement”.

However I just wonder, if Adrian Durham, and his show, will be calling out, the behaviour of their Captain, the goalscorer, the team mates and the Klan…..and calling it, them and a klub an embarrassment, as quickly and as feverishly he did with Scott Brown and Celtic, for a last minute win at the same venue.

We have Honest Mistakes and Klan Cables from the media to look forward to ALL season, and Goals win football matches. lots of them.

Take something from Cluj this week and oh my, that deadline day transfer may produce something sensational.

So I have no fear, but someone should make Mr Let’s Go, aware – in his 86minute Matchday League……it was simply 2 POINTS dropped !

  11. Agree with comments on the ref not issuing cards to respective players but can only see one reason that this is so, the concerted effort from Ibrokes to illicit support from refs and the SFA that’s tantamount to collusion by their constant whining and I hope it was a genuine mistake but don’t hold hope in that regard.

Fans behaviour should always be challenged when it becomes inappropriate and I feel that along with green brigade tifo should be condemned by both clubs and the SFA.

If there’s to be parity on sectarianism we need to clean our own street first and stop and it’s that simple.

Btw I watched them yesterday too, pure pish.

    • I watched them as well…and pish sums it up nicely….they were mince as well….( Pishy mince anyone…everyone..?)
As for the lack of yellow cards…??
Until Member Clubs protest about this imbalance …then feck all will happen.
So Celtic FC….the next time one of our players is booked for celebrating…I sincerely hope that you will not accept the booking …and use yesterday as a precedent.
Grow a pair for God’s sake…!!…I’m sick and tired of this crap.

  12. They will keep getting away with it. Even if someone was killed yesterday they would get away with it. That’s just the way it is. Let them have their fun while Celtic quietly go about their business of actually winning trophies. The level of contempt for the Scottish game by our own media is the worst in the world. As soon as some English player who comes to the end of their career and cant get a clubs in the premiership comes up here our media are falling over themselves. I am reminded of them every time I open the top of my fish tank to feed my goldfish, they come to the top swimming about with mouths open looking for the tiniest bit of a dirty smelling flakes. The English media and pundits must be smiling to themselves thinking those Scottish take our scraps our left overs and they now down and thank us for it! No wonder the English supporters laugh at Scottish football. Gerrard would get about 5 minutes of media time had he taken a manager’s job down in England. Up here our media hail him as if it was Jose Mourinho himself. Scottish football is a laughing stock and it’s our very own media that has made it that way.

  13. I decided to watch their game yesterday just to check out the ‘quality ‘ of our supposed challengers.
Their second half performance was really woeful and they were very lucky to win the game. Brophy missed a sitter. Prior to them scoring the cameras panned round their end and there were a lot of angry faces ( more angry than usual) and I thought to myself there could be a riot if they drop points here, especially after our 7-0 on Saturday.
I don’t see any improvement from last season whereas we have moved on to another level.
I fear the Klan could be very nasty this year, the rest of Scotland be vigilant
