Telling the truth about Alfredo

One of the many things that a rookie football manager has to come to terms with is PR.

Although he may have been under some scrutiny as a player the amount of things he has to get in front of as a manager is immeasurably larger.

Yesterday Mr Let’s Go let the cat out of the bag by revealing that there had indeed been a bid submitted for Señor Alfredo José Morelos Aviléz.

However, it was for a rather paltry €3m.

At the exchange rate, today that is £ 2.6m.

Of course, what Mr Gerrard let slip yesterday is clearly at variance with this world exclusive.

At the time I tried to run this story down and I spoke with a British journalist who is based in Shanghai.

He has excellent contacts in Chinese football and even he couldn’t stand the story up.

Indeed, his take on it was that it was almost certainly pish.

I suspect that this was more checking that the entire Stenography Corps combined.

In part, some of them rushed to print on this because they wanted to believe it.

Others were just following orders.

If Mr Gerrard is telling the truth on this, and I firmly believe that he is, then we can only conclude that  Alfredo’s market value has plummeted since the “offer” from China last January.

This is just one of those regular occurrences when regular readers realise that this site was keeping them well informed amid the noise level of the Stenography Corps.

Of course, I shouldn’t need to be doing this and the Word Mines beckon as I have a manuscript to submit.

However, I feel torn about it as I know that the…ahem… coverage on Planet Fitba on matters Sevco is just not up to it.

Unfortunately, the truth is collateral damage in their Ibrox feelgood protocols.

As regular readers here will know the Sevco High Command had a cunning plan apropos the Colombian striker.

A plan as cunning as a fox with 41 criminal convictions for cunning.

The high-Level strategy was to deploy the finest stenographers to create the appearance that the South American was being chased by a  number of high spending clubs.

Over this season I have spoken to several agents operating in England and they are aware of the player.

However, they’re also fully cognisant of his poor disciplinary record.

It is not difficult to imagine that his off the ball antics would be more severely punished by English match officials.

Consequently, the idea that selling Alfredo would be the magic bullet to solve Sevco’s looming cash flow crisis was like their chance of winning the league-a non-starter.

Hopefully, over the summer Mr Let’s Go will go through a PR pre-season and be up to speed with the spin as he fails again in 2019-2020.

Otherwise, there could be further embarrassing gaffes when he tells the truth in public.

Now, that just won’t do!

I hope that you’re well and in good form dear reader.

For some reason, I’m feeling rather champion today.

  1. Going off 2angers evaluation of Morelos Celtic should slap a £30m release clause on Leigh Griffiths.

40 goals in a Season without the aid of blind linesmen 👍🏼

  2. The GASL will accept any offer for Morelos……….he can’t afford not to with all the overheads, lawyers fees, big Mike’s dues etc. As long as it’s other peepul’s money he’ll keep the klub afloat. HH

  3. I will tell you the truth about Morelos……..He is SHITE, he does not have a big game mentality and ultimately, the confidence to be a top top player. £7M MAX

    • Can’t see them getting £7m. I think the boy has goals in him, but NOT at the highest level. Plus his temperament will ALWAYS put second thoughts into the heads of prospective buyers. At the end of the day, be it a house, a car, a footballer, anything or anyone is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

  4. Stevie g might not be obeying Level-5 PR(L-5PR),but Bet365 have certainly followed Level-5 instructions,alongside W.Hills,Coral and Ladbrokes…
Bet365 tweeted that ‘rangers’ are still the most successful club in Scotland, listing titles,cups,’@uld firm’ wins, doubles and trebles.‼️
Not bad for a 6/7yo club!
I called them to say that their post was 100% fiction;mainly due to the fact that there isn’t a club currently playing out of iboaks with that name, suggesting they check at Companies House.
I was told I was ‘bitter’ and I was ‘twisting things.’
I replied that ‘I live in the real World,NOT a fictional one where only ‘comforting lies’ are printed and the deluded believe them’
And that employees working at the same newspapers, that had pictured a coffin with the old clubs logo emblazoned on it,being lowered into a grave;now deny that they ever printed said story and pictures.

So,BET365 ARE perpetuating THE LIE/MYTH that rangers DID NOT DIE‼️

So,Phil,IF you can lay your hands on lots of those ‘Deludemol’ tablets, there’s a ready made market @BET365.

    ps.BET365 gave me a free £10 bet last August,I took over £220 from 2 those bets,IF Porto had won their league,that’d have been 12/12(£1400.)in 2 accas.I got 11/12.
But after my last bet clears after the final,I’m finished with gambling FOR GOOD

Leaving a winner seems the best thing to do.Phil I’m quite sure that you don’t like,or approve of gambling, but this is just so your readers KNOW who they are dealing with.

    Thanks Phil,HH🍀🇮🇪💚✅☮️

  6. I do believe the Daily Star have a typo in Charlie Nicholas’ byline.

Shouldn’t it read, “HE SHOOTS FROM THE LAP” ?

That might explain why his “column” is a conduit for utter wank.

“Rangers Now In Control” ? More than can be said for you, Chazza.

  7. Sevco should sell Morelos for the €3 million, but they should insert a clause in the contract that says that each time he gets red-carded, an additional 10% is paid to them. That should wipe out all their cumulative debts in half a season, I reckon.

  8. Tavernier will probably realise more than Morelos, but no doubt one or both will have to go.
I pity Steve Clarke for having to work with the morons at the SFA.
But is the huge rise in salary enough to compensate for reporting to a CEO who wouldn’t pass an O Level English exam?
Exactly what criteria did Maxwell bring to the job?
Seeing Thistle relegated to the Championship under his stewardship?
I’d read some stuff about his lack of educational attainment thinking no way could anyone with a lack of basic English get a CEO job anywhere, but hey the SFA is a law unto itself as the rescinding of Flanagan’s ban reinforced that notion.
He’s in great company, Fleming, Bryson et al, he should fit in very well, in fact so well that they all could be mistaken for brothers!

  9. Morelos will be there at Ibrox next year.
Consider the core 14 of the Ibrox squad:

    McGregor
    Tavernier
    Katic
    Goldson
    Davies
    Arfield
    Kamara
    Jack
    Dorrans
    Murphy
    Morelos
    Defoe
    Jones
    Hastie

Not world-beaters, but with a few additions, certainly good enough to be in second place and depending on who they bring in, maybe serious challengers.

    Now the core 14
    of the Celtic squad:

    Bain
    Tierney
    Simunovic
    Ajer
    McGregor
    Brown
    Rogic
    Bitton
    Christie
    Forrest
    Eduard
    Johnston
    Bayo
    Shved

There could be up to twenty out the door including including:

    Gordon
    De Vries
    Gamboa
    Lustig
    Benkovic
    Toljan
    Ntcham
    Burke
    Allan
    Boyata
    Hendry
    Griffiths
    Kouassi
    Hayes
    Sinclair
    Compper
    Izaguirre
    Benyu

There is no doubt that there is an enormous job to do at Celtic Park – and with a new manager and backroom staff to ‘bed in’ into the bargain.

Chris Sutton says we have been left a mess – come 30 June we will see how big.

  10. Phil i do think Slippy has realised the high level spin machine is making him look like a clown in public with their pish, and has decided enough is enough, i do believe that if jabba had tried to hall him off stage during a presser, he would get a few cracks on the nose from the Huyton Hero!!

  11. Now I believe that they were going for a historical season, the fan’s were waiting for news so that they could celebrate. Unfortunately Sevco could not make that history, to be the first sevco team in their history to win all their games after the split. Mr SG will try to string a team together, wait till he here’s it’s a shoestring.

    Hail Hail🍀😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🍀

  12. “Some Rangers fans believe the club’s history, which would end with liquidation, must be protected but there is a shameful part of that history that they should want to forget and any newco should make it clear a new beginning should mean exactly that. A new club open to all from the very beginning.” Did James Traynor really say this?

    • That was Oldco JT.Newco JT denies all knowledge of it and its easy to see how someone could do that in Scotland.
