Yesterday Celtic overcame Motherwell at Parkhead despite the “Steelmen” taking an iron bar to sporting decency.
The explanation by their manager in the post-match presser was an open goal for the assembled hacks, but it was ignored.
Very sporting of them.
So, it is still an eight-point gap with games running out for the chasing pack..
Next up is a trip to Tynecastle.
For those who wish Celtic to stumble in the march towards 8IAR the games are fast running out.
Moreover, key players are on their way back from injury.
Quite simply, Kieran Tierney has no rivals for the left-back slot at Celtic.
However, an injury crisis can also be an opportunity.
The current attrition in central midfield created an opening for Ewan Henderson.
Man of the Match yesterday, he is another academy graduate who could save Celtic millions in the transfer market.
A successful January window has produced genuine options for Rodgers in the attacking positions.
In an entirely unrelated development, Scott Sinclair has rediscovered his predatory instincts getting into dangerous positions and he is finishing with aplomb.
Anyone who wishes to take the SPFL title from Celtic will have to step up.
At this point, I don’t see that happening.
For the rest of the week, it is my plan to be a novelist again.
So I will be gone from this place.
Therefore, comments are likely to be in moderation limbo for a while.
Think of me down the word mines as the sequel to The Squad requires me to be at my best.
What yesterday showed was that if the Hoops get even near to their best then the league title is remaining at Parkhead.
Have a great week.
“Took an iron bar to sporting decency.” I’d been trying to think of an appropriate phrase for the actions of Motherwell yesterday. Thank you for solving that problem for me Phil.
I also heard a new unsavoury football ditty yesterday. “Sieg Heil, Motherwell! Sieg Heil, Motherwell!”
Hey Phil, surely it can’t be a coincidence that Sevco choose the week that you’re off writing the follow up to ‘The Squad’ to post their pitiful “unaudited trading results”. Seems like a good week to bury bad news !
Surely, “Stealmen”?
Good luck in the mines. I’ll just add this word of caution though; if the Masons in black decide to exert the power they have then the league is still not won no matter how good Celtic play. They can easily just contrive some sending off offences to level the field in any game, but especially so in any upcoming with Dons and Sevco. Do not underestimate the lengths they may go to in stopping 8 in a row!
For Celtic Fc the Double Treble ,7 in a row,£37m Cash in the Bank Champions It’s all over bar the singing in the League.
With the League Diddy Cup already sat in the Cabinet it looking like another Vintage Year in Parkheid.
That’s not to say that the Tribute Act should not be applauded for reaching their fabled 55 points in the League 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Only £60m was borrowed in 6 years in order to repeat this fine achievement in Scotland’s top flight of soccer ball.
Will they survive long enough to Buy themselves a T55 Çomrades?
The D*$50m for Morelos will certainly help matters in the Summer when the very second that Window opens he will be gone quicker than a motorised wheel chair out the Ibrox Fire Exit during an unplanned visit from HMRC

Just read the Derek Crothers article on Scottish referees.
Its a scathing critique of the refereeing system in Scotland, particularly whilst Fleming, and previously Cummings, have been calling the shots.
I remember being at a Celtic/ Hearts game at Celtic Park many years ago where Cummings was the man in the middle.
His incompetence knew no bounds and his decision making affected both sides. On more than one occasion either goalie had tipped the ball over the bar, corner?, nope by kick.
So bad was his display that on the Monday morning I posted a letter to the SFA slaughtering his performance.
When I picked up the papers on the Tuesday morning I was gobsmacked to read that Cummings had been promoted to Referee Supervisor.
Wow, just wow. I quickly came to the conclusion that if someone with Cumming’s ability had been promoted to top dog what criteria made him the best match for the job.
Fleming’s in exactly the same boat. It’s all jobs for the boys, not the bhoys, just look at Dallas senior and junior.
If the refs are that bad, and they are, how bad must you be to qualify as a linesman(3rd official)
It’s been very noticeable that in a number of home games recently at Celtic Park the linesman has been instructed to wait for the referee to signal the awarding of a throw in before they follow suit with their flag.
It’s laughable but just ridiculous but hey what else could we expect from Maxwell and his team at Hampden?
Interesting plan from those hard done to ‘Union Berrz’…
A rally (salutes optional) outside Pacific Quay Glasgow to tell the nasty BBC what they think of their ‘impartial’ (surely that means without bias?) and biased reporting of all things Rainjurz…
To take place interestingly before their next home game against Kilmarnock on 16th March.
Yes Mr King.. we can all see this ending just nicely..
