Natural Order Sunday

Mr Gerrard recently said that when he arrived in Glasgow he detected “pain” and “desperation” amongst the Ibrox support.

Well, I would have been surprised if he had discovered erudition and generosity!

In the run-up to the League Cup semi-final with Aberdeen, the Sevco klanbase were discussing who they wanted to play in the final.

Of course, there was always a concomitant danger is writing off Derek McInnes’ men.

Niall McGinn’s corner created one of the few genuine chances in the match.

The Irishman’s delivery was met forcefully by young Lewis Ferguson.

Incidentally, the goal scorer is a nephew of Mr Barry Ferguson EBT.

A hat tip to the Sevco scriptwriting team.

Unsurprisingly, it did not take long for some of the Ibrox klanbase to turn on Lourdes’ daddy in the home dugout.

In the earlier fixture in the capital, it was a neutral venue and the natural order of things.

Quite frankly, the three-nil margin rather flattered Hammer Throwers of Midlothian.

The Edinburgh team did suffer a blow early in the first half when they were denied the silky skills of their captain.

No one was near him when he appeared to strain the karmic ligaments in his knee.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

At this point, I have to direct a hat tip in the direction of James Forrest.

No, not Celtic’s unplayable wee winger, but the stalwart of the Fitba blogosphere.

Last Friday I had constructed a worrying scenario in my head and shared it with him.

I reasoned that Rodger’s men had just endured a difficult night in Leipzig and they were up against a horribly…err…pragmatic Hearts side at Murrayfield.

Moreover, Craig Levein’s chaps had an extra day to rest after their midweek fixture.

James would hear none of it.

“Three nil Celtic. Nae bother!”

He confidently swatted away any of my evidence that this was the day that calamity might befall a tired Celtic side.

During the match, Brendan had to deal with his own enforced changes.

It is fair to say that the game was changed utterly by the introduction of Christie and Sinclair.

The reaction and lack of protestation by Oliver John Bozanic told its own tale.

He had felled Ryan Christie and the other substitute passed it into the net from the spot.

In the end, the scoreline would not have been a travesty had Celtic ran out 6-0 winners.

The final goal was a perfect example of Number 10 play from young Christie.

How Mr Gerrard would like such riches on his bench!

In the aftermath, the ex-Liverpool player wasted no time in propelling his players under the wheels of a road going public conveyance.

He dropped a heavy hint that some of his charges might be shown the door in January.

Two inconvenient facts for Mr Gerrard on that one:

  • There is no huge money to spend. If anything, players might need to be sold.
  • The players who failed at Hampden yesterday were, in the main, his acquisitions.

The main reason for the kamikaze retail manoeuvre with Elite Sports was simply due to a crippling cash flow situation.

It was, if you will, a Hail Mary from the Blue Room.

Even with European revenues, the Gerrard summer spending spree has increased the Sevco wage bill exponentially.

Of course, just like the Admirable Warburton and Poor Pedro before him, Mr Gerrard has stumbled into the wrong movie.

Just like the other two losers he promised great things to the klan.

Yesterday should not have been a surprise.

Since Sevco’s unexpected success at Hampden in April 2016, they have been serial losers at the national stadium.

What yesterday means that in five weeks there will be a cup final there between two proper football clubs.

Aberdeen has a great unbroken history and they go about their business on and off the field honestly.

It also means that the Stenography Corps will not be able to regurgitate their “Old Firm Final” pish.

More importantly, it will deny the klan an opportunity for a Fenian blood festival at Hampden.

Hopefully for as long as he is there Lourdes’ daddy will detect plenty of pain and desperation on the faces of the genocide choir at Ibrox.

For the avoidance of doubt, they do not deserve better.

Have a great week!

  1. I’m just glad Broony didn’t play yesterday otherwise he might have been accused of attacking the nomark Naismith with his balls again. Speaking of that most delicate of appendages, McLean is nothing but a reject who should receive a ban at the very least for his tackle cruncher on Kouassi. HH

  2. McLean is a despicable filthy cheat. Most of his play yesterday was on his backside arms outstretched claiming something or other. A pervert of this type has no place in football. His cover was blown when he stated he hoped Celtic would get pumped. The only pumping was at Murrayfiled and McLean got pumped. I hoped he enjoyed feeling someones balls, as he has none.

  3. Kingco must be cringing as the Messiah talks of bringing in better quality. That costs money, serious money.
Though he wasn’t specific as to whether that would be loanees or permanent replacements.
Not sure about SPFL rules on loan players but Stevie G started with 5 which must be some sort of record.
Pumped McLean should be cited by the Compliance Officer this morning after his sexual assault on the Celtic player.
Perhaps even a Police Scotland matter as McLean was only too happy to admit his indiscretion. Sex offenders listing?
Happens all the time he says! Perhaps back in the old days but with cameras picking up everything these days that statement is bollocks.
Remember that this offence took place in a footballer’s workplace and should be treated no differently with the incident captured on camera and the offender freely admitting what he’d done.
Pumped McLean is not the sharpest tool in the box and perhaps he will live to regret boasting of his deviant behaviour?

  4. One may say, on behalf of said Mr JF, well predicted.

As for the Klan turning on SG well that was always going to happen.

I wonder, if you’d be so kind Phil and ask JF if he would send over predictions for Hibs v Hearts midweek, us against them at the weekend and whether true natural order will spring forth Monday?

    • It’s always just been a matter of time before the fans turned on Lourdes dad.
A bad result and they are going off their nut already.
Only the European results have kept criticism at a low level.
However, apart from improving the financial position, not bringing home 55 this season will be unacceptable to most of the support.
Kingco are all in to prevent 8 IAR. They know it’s shit or bust this season.
If Stevie G really wants real quality in the January window, and not loanees who can’t get games with their parent club, serious money would have to be splashed.
With Tavernier, good going forward but a poor defender, and the perpetually moaning and getting booked Morelos the only saleable assets, it’ s a catch 22.
Selling your best players to bring in higher quality fresh blood with no guarantee of success, knowing that Celtic can splash the cash at will, is a high wire balancing act.
Having spent his career at the top of the game it’s easy to understand why Stevie chose Rangers rather than AFC Wimbledon to launch his management career.
Big crowds, plenty of media attention, silverware to be won, whats not to like?
The other side of that of course is that you have to take the incoming flak if all is not well. I can’t imagine what Stevie’s wife and family had to listen too if they were at Hampden yesterday.

  5. Looks like they missed the opportunity ‘ a good day to bury bad news’ – was expecting them to win and publish the accounts today….neither has happened – those pesky accounts will just have to be published anyway…….
