Decision time for Moussa Dembélé

I’m told that Celtic have put a new contract on the table for their  French striker.

Moreover, that has been on the table since mid-summer.

If he signs it then he will be the best-paid player at the club.

Brendan Rodgers is even willing to sell another major player in order to fund the Dembélé package.

Both Lyon and Marseille have indicated their interest, but the former is in pole position now.

Developing story.

  1. Some person… or persons… at Celtic FC should get sacked for this transfer debacle.
I’ve seen some pretty poor efforts over the years regarding transfer windows…but this beats the lot.
I wouldn’t be surprised if BR starts quietly putting out the feelers out for a new Club.
I certainly wouldn’t blame him if he leaves…he’s been shafted.
    Utter disgrace Celtic FC.
PS : I hope those who profit financially from all this…can sleep at night.

  2. If he signs , this will be horsed at us as good news to try and cover the lack of transfer activity .
If he leaves , weve got 72 hours to “invest” it in the squad .

    72 hours .

This time next season , only one of Brendan and Peter will be employed at Celtic .

    I fear the worst .

    Keep at em , Phil

  3. Extremely disappointing in the market this summer, We sometimes even forget the Virgil sell-on % we got. Really poor dealings for us. I don’t care what anybody say’s, You will never get the guys you really want from now till Friday (as they would have been signed by now). We will probably get a a Man city kid or two and bank the Moussa cash. just like we have always done.

  4. 16 goals in 39 appearances last season. A great bit of business to get substantial money for him if the transfer actually happens. Old man river Kris Boyd got 23 goals in 43 appearances playing for Kilmarnock last year.

  5. Sad to see him go. The bank balance boasting is wearing thin. They have signed a new team building from the back and are a different proposition whereas CFC are a weaker team low on confidence. A loss on Sunday (and/or tomorrow) will have far reaching consequences. CFC will never have this opportunity to win 10 in a row and are in danger in blowing it big style. PL and DD will not survive the season if they let the fans down in this once in a generation chance.

  6. I think Griffiths and Edouard can form a decent partnership myself.
Dembele was never going to be at Celtic long term but Griffiths has stated several times he would commit the rest of his career to Celtic.
Priority should always have been to keep the wee man happy imo.
40 goals in a Season playing up own his own.

  7. L’Equipe are saying gone, 25m Euro for four year contract at Lyon subject to medical tomorrow. Good business for us, was not expecting him to be here this season. We better spend some now.

  8. One more thought; how sad is it that we are debating about him leaving instead of reading about multiple players coming in? Are they really waiting until the last minute of the last hour????????

  9. Well, at least it is proactive and not waiting around until it reached the Boyata situation. As much as I love Moussa, if he will not commit to a new contract then he has to be sold at his maximum value which s now. Even if you wanted to keep him for this year it will come at the cost of a sharply reduced figure next Summer when he only has a year left. I get that it is a tough choice for the club, but if the difference is getting 15M for now vs 5M next Summer then I think he has to be sold. That’s economic reality! Basically, it comes down to this; does he want to play here?

  10. Absolutely livid with how this summer has panned out for us so far; to say its been a frustrating few months is the understatement of the century. We’re going a long to beating ourselves this season, which is unforgivable. Hell mend us if we havn’t signed a couple of quality defenders by Friday!

  11. Surely any football fan would welcome the opportunity to see Dembele, Edouard and Ntcham play in a team together?

The Two Musketeers doesn’t quite have the same ring to it…

  12. Should Celtic’s head of recruitment Lee Congerton Stay or Go ? I Suggest he goes on gardening leave, like he did at Sunderland.
