The desire for democracy in the Blue Room

Sometimes you hear something and it just doesn’t seem quite right.

Therefore, it is always a good idea to check it out.

I’m told that when he heard news of the Broomloan ban one ex-pat member of the Sevco High Command contacted a senior Blue Room colleague for clarification.

The caller was soothed by his older associate with the reasoning that even Mr King do such a thing without consulting with them first.

The idea that he would act unilaterally without, at the very least, running it by the other directors was unthinkable.

After all, he reasoned, such a move would ideally need to be done in consultation with the Police and the footballing authorities.

Sadly, the older chap was utterly mistaken.

The South African based chairman had indeed acted unilaterally.

This led to something of a stand-up row between him and one of the remaining King loyalists within the Sevco high Command.

I’m told that the word “dictatorship” was deployed by the senior chap.

He also rounded on King’s man about the debacle around Martin Škrtel, which was another squirrel designed to excite The People.

All of this comes hot on the heels of the appointment of the vastly inexperienced Steven Gerrard.

I am told that the Sevco High Command were completely out of the loop on that one.

Of course, it sent the Sevco customer base into raptures.

The Gerrard appointment was brought to The People by Glib and Shameless Productions.

Despite this, there are potential problems down the road with the TV deal, sponsorship etc.

A Glasgow Derby match at Ibrox with a few hundred Celtic fans takes away from much of the theatre of the occasion.

An inter-galactic PR guru has been spinning this week about El Classico in Span.

Even the most credulous among the Stenography Corps were not buying that one.

The Broomloan squirrel is hugely popular with the home crowd at Ibrox and it does provide a short-term cash flow boost through season ticket sales.

However, Mr King does not seem to be thinking long-term.

Consequently, I believe that we are now approaching peak Dave.

For the avoidance of doubt, he is not first among equals in the Blue Room he just doesn’t give a fuck.

  1. King is playing to the gullibles in an attempt to deflect from the financial issues and its going down a treat.
Pick a fight with the SFA and the fans are in raptures.
Hitting back at last at the haters, the SFA, SPFL and the media.
Without the connivance of the first two they would be gone and the media has spent the last 5 years regurgitating Level 5 crap as truth.
Only a matter of time before the Orange strips get rolled out.
I’m sure someone will take Stevie G aside and explain the cultural importance of the strip and why a victory by an army paid for by the Vatican is the highlight of their marching season.

  2. Doesn’t make sense they already sell season tickets to their support for the Broomloan they are moved when the Celtic come calling. So they can offer to sell a couple of additional games to existing season ticket holders and/or sell any empty seats to them at the Celtic games. Doubtful if it will be anymore than the guaranteed 800,000 quid two home games against the Champions bring in

  3. Money is a country and when you have enough of it you are automatically given citizenship and the protection that comes with it. Gordon Brown apologised for the failure of The Financial Services Authority which led to the banking crisis of 2008, claiming they did not realise the extent of the global influence on the financial market.
Nothing changes. DK more or less said recently, you can’t touch him because he does business throughout the world.
The Take Over Panel is only there to give an illusion that “someone is minding the shop”.
If you look closely “The Sword of Damocles ” that hangs over DK’s head is not suspended by a thin horse’s hair but is welded firmly to a roof other than the one covering Ibrox Stadium.

    • Pre 2008 you might have been right regarding the rubber teeth of the TOP however due to the financial vandalism of the banks not to mention Murray, King et al I think they’ve got to follow through to the letter of the law. Unfortunately this is a slow process with the authorities having to be seen to be acting fair and reasonable to all parties. It’s coming to King.

  4. Daily Radar is running a poll ‘Is Connor Goldson Right For Rangers?’
Given that no one had heard of him till he was a transfer target and he’s had very few minutes in the EPL just what are those participating in the poll basing their casting votes on apart from the fact he’s 6’3″?
If indeed a 3rd offer of around the £3m allegedly wanted by Brighton is made then well and good but having gone through the Murphy debacle they won’t he in any mood to be negotiating unrealistic add ons and a substantial downpayment will be required.
Will this end up as a rerun of the Murphy transfer and become an initial loan move or will yet again Rangers not be held to ransom?
Oh and 7o% of the DR’s voters think it’s a good move, perhaps they were impressed by his height?
    Wonder what height Alves is?
Jackson having a right good go at the Ibrox club this morning, notably comparing the Ibrox PR machine to something from Stalinist Russia and asking questions of the suitability and experience of the DOF.
The same DOF that was being praised to the heavens by the media for bringing in Goss, Martin, Murphy, Cummings and the young lad from Man City.
The first two have gone back to their clubs, Cummings situation is unclear, the Man City lad has disappeared and only Murphy has signed on who wouldn’t get a seat on the Celtic bench.
    It’s hardly an outstanding start.
The nearly man, Jordan Rhodes, being bandied about now as a £5m target. What happened to the £4m McBurnie deal, are they the two new hit men to replace Morelos the £12m petted lip?
More to the point Pena, Herrera, Cardoso, Alves and the rest still on the payroll which must be a bigger worry for those in charge of the budget.
I suppose that any additional funds from ST sales from the Broomloan will come in handy.
Not sure how much extra this will generate as they will be already selling ST for this area without the home games against Celtic included, just as the Champions do for the Lisbon Lions stand.
I suppose Dave knows what he’s doing and that the merchandising issues will all be resolved by 2019 given the professional manner that he and his board have shown to date as they continue the journey to the holy grail that is the natural order.
No doubt there will be a huge effort to bring in a name this week or next to be paraded alongside Gerrard as an indication of intent.
However the number’s don’t lie plus there is no indication whatsoever that King’s proposed share issue in June will go ahead.
Despite various assertions that COS/TOP actions will have no impact on the club the reality is somewhat different.
    Interesting few weeks ahead.

  5. Isn’t The Lyin’ King only chairman of the holding company not of “the club”? Wasn’t this the fudge that got around the convicted tax felon being a “fit and proper person” to be involved in fitbaw?

Ian Maxwell, the new Ethan Hunt(!) in charge of Mission Impossible: SFA Protocol has plenty to do to clean the sh1t out of the SFA Agean stables but IMO he would be best served by going after the main guy bringing the Scottish game into disrepute.

  6. Another smokescreen. All this means is that more home supporters will have the option to see their team turned over. No more income can be realised. I feel that King is trying to force a coup. It’s difficult to see how the this hysteria of a company can endure another tsunami .
A good business strategy is to over-promise and over-deliver, with King, his mantra is ‘Stand and Deliver! “

  7. It’s difficult to see why DK would give a fuck. I mean, we have been promised a cold shoulder for over a year and so far nada. The Board tried sourcing their own manager and players – you got Joey Barton and Pedro Caixinha as the result. We have been looking at the financial abyss for as long as we can remember, being told the Board are tapped put or about to walk away, but always another “loan” comes through. We hear of impending arrests for contempt of court, yet DK manages to appear in public and host press conferences. Seriously, given all that, why would he give a fuck?

  10. They already sell STs for that stand, on the understanding it’s vacated when The Champions call, twice/thrice per season on league business. Given CFC pay a premium for this fixture it’s beyond me how this latest King balls-up can be construed as a good commercial decision. Or am I missing something….?

  11. Have said this a number of times, but if the other directors are truly fed up of the lying King, then they can depose him at any time.

The only caveat is that they need to call a special ANG and then have enough votes from all the other shareholders to make it so.

If they can’t or won’t act, then it essentially is a de-facto dictatorship. But if they succeeded, King would be out and would simply be the owner of 16% of worthless shares and could do little about it.

But it may already be too late because they stupidly already put in their money.

    • That’s an interesting point Peter, and suggests that the other Directors cannot simply sideline King, or else they surely would.

I suspect a large part of the reason may be that King, through his trust fund, has agreed to make up any funding shortfall, as a result of which the auditors have agreed to sign off the club’s annual accounts for the past couple of years.

Of course, King hasn’t actually put any of that money forward, preferring the OPM source of funding. Nevertheless, he still refers to himself as the ‘lender of first resort’ and presumably, as long as he claims that he will ultimately fund any deficit, the auditors will continue to sign off the club’s accounts on an going concern basis.

If the other directors were to oust King, they would no longer have recourse to his so-called guarantee, therefore would have to find some other way to satisfy the auditors that the continuing funding deficit could be met going forward.

That would pose a problem for those directors who currently have significant financial skin in the game and who don’t reside outside of the reach of the UK financial authorities. They may be less inclined to make glib promises to ultimately underwrite any funding deficit, and will be well aware of the consequences for the directors of a company that continues to trade while knowingly insolvent.

      • As is said, follow the money!

The point you make about the signing of the Anuual Accounts is the only one that relates to money/cash.

When the accounts are created the Auditors will treat the Broomloan Road fee due from Parkhead NOT as an Asset – meaning cash in the bank – but (at the date of signing the accounts) as an ‘Intangibile Asset’. Meaning something Sevco could bank on ‘IF’ it happens.

Is said Auditors mildly sense a future insolvent event then (at date of signing Accounts) ‘the future cash’ option is actually a problem – because it’s actually cash that might not materialise in the future. There’s a question mark over it. There is uncertainty.

So ‘peak Dave’ is to somersault and get the OP’s cash in – then we can have a post balance sheet event before signing the Anuual Accounts. This way Campbell Dallas have one less compliance issue with Sevco and Mr Glib. And in the Sevco future who currently cares?

    • that would suit king perfectly to be ousted, that`s maybe what his aim is, then it all falls on someone else`s shoulders. at the moment he cant even sell himself out.

      Reply
      • Have to disagree there. King certainly does not want ousted because then he can’t make any money. I think he would love someone to buy him out, but at a hefty premium.

There is something going on here that will result in money for King or he wouldn’t still be involved.
