Dignified divisions and movable goalposts

A very senior member of the Sevco High Command called the Serious Professional today.

Apparently, this chap felt that he was being thrown under the bus by His Impecuniousness.

Indeed, he went so far as to allege that the convict chairman was leaking against him.

He stated that he wanted a full board meeting without further delay!

Oh dear, a Big House divided and all that…

The South African based entrepreneur is still telling his Blue Room colleagues that he is actively looking for a buyer for his RIFC shares.

I also learned today that the Takeover Panel has written again to Mr David Cunningham King.

It would appear that the delaying tactics have come to an end.

Caveat emptor and all that…

It didn’t surprise me to hear that the Škrtel Squirrel is still causing tremors.

News has reached me that an inter-galactic PR guru has been briefing that the villain of the piece is the agent of the Slovakian defender.

Heavy hints about goal posts being moved mid-negotiation have been swallowed whole by several hand-picked stenographers.

Consequently, Mr Škrtel’s representative is less than Zen-like about it today.

It was said to me by an Ibrox insider that the anti-King faction on the board thought they could contain or even outmanoeuvre him.

With the Gerrard move, they finally realised that neither course of action is available to them.

Now, like the rest of us, they are rubbernecking waiting to see where this train wreck comes to rest.

The decision today on the Broomloan Road stand would seem to be another step along that journey.

This is now the Dave King show and playing to the gallery is of paramount importance.

  1. Sometime in the next week or two the fat controller’s disciples will announce a 50’000 ST sell out as a triumph.
The following day the Champions will trump that hand with an announcement of a 60, 000 ST sell out.
    Game, set and match.

  2. McLeish is a whingeing EBT recidivist.
The SFA is responsible for arranging two nothing games at the other side of the world which will have absolutely no beneficial effect on the national team whilst enhancing the blazers travel miles.
I’ve asked the SFA to name the entite travelling party, players, coaches, hangers on……. That was 2 weeks ago. So much for transparency.
Shouldn’t be long now before Maxwell is telling us all to move on for the sake of Scottish football.
That will be confirmation, if needed, that things will stay as exactly as they were.

  3. Where do you start with the latest Daily Radar nonsense.
‘6 players Celtic could sign if Gerrard is backed big. ‘
    Ha, feckin ha.
Arfield, McGregor added to last seasons dross whilst Celtic boast a team of internationalists. Who has the need to sign half a dozen players?
There are no signs whatsoever that Gerrard is being backed big. The club had £29m revenue in the last financial year with €35m of outgoings. The current financial year is likely to be worse.
It’s all wishful thinking, there is no plan. King talks of a share issue which with the current TOP issues is a non starter. He talks about Celtic losing one league title and collapsing.
This is pushed out by the media as fact and without question.
PL then blows that crap out of the water. £30m in the bank, looking 2 years ahead, lays out the detail of the £5m being spent on facilities and touches on the longer term plan with the hotel etc.
Gerrard has bitten off more than he can chew. He has no idea of the magnitude of the gap between the clubs on and off the park.
His dressing room is full of Warburton and Pedro failures, most of whom he will have to work with as none of them will be walking away from their contracts.
Even the best, most experienced, coach in the world would struggle to get a tune out of this lot.
I wouldn’t be surprised that if things don’t start well then Stevie G will be pulling on his boots again and leading from the front, alongside McAllister in midfield and Jamie Carragher stiffening the defence.
    Dalglish and Rush up front?

  4. Here we go again..Brighton knock back ‘reported’ £1.5m bid for defender.
Ibrox club go back with ‘improved’ offer, also knocked back, apparently well short of Brighton’s valuation of the player.
Interest ended as ‘sources close to Ibrox’ say the club won’t he held to ransom because of selling clubs reading of the extra ST money coming in from the Broomloan Stand.

  5. Picture the scenario. 30 minutes to go in the next game with Celtic at Ibrox.
Celts 4 up, Broonie with the shades on and the stadium empty of home fans, long since departed.
What/who will the Sky cameras be focusing on?
The few hundred Celtic fans of course celebrating in no man’s land whilst a national TV audience ponders why the Champions of Scotland has such a poor away following.

  6. Just looking at the Rainjuurz ST manoeuvres in a purely financial sense….

Looks like it will bring in a few million extra in upfron money, which I’m certain (aye!) will go towards the pager budget….

That’s short term though.. Looking at if throughout the season… The several thousand away fans they will be losing each month will result in a loss of 250000 – 600000 or so per month depending on his the programme runs. They will have had the money in blue pounds up front but we know that will already be pissed away! That several hundred grand each month is probably the bulk of their player wages which of course have to genetic in a monthly basis.

I think that this great move for the benefit of the fans is purely for the benefit of mr King and will see their month to month cash flow situation go even more critical than in recent seasons.

There will be NO month to month income from shirt sales, ticket sales of European bonuses….. The ST money will be it and since most or much is spoken for its hard to see how they can progress much beyond October..

    Limp…limp…..limp…

  7. The pied piper of Ibrox is leading the fans to the edge of a cliff with their eyes and ears closed to all that’s going on around them.
The Skrtel fiasco is already forgotten, move on to the next unrealistic target.
A share issue next month Mr King, I very much doubt it.
Squaring up to the SFA against the bias they have shown against your club? Are you kidding, but we are all behind you in your quest for transparency, oh yes we are, can’t wait for that one.
Lets sort out the unwashed comment nonsense then get into who at Ibrox signed off on the 2012 fraudulent licence application.
I’m sure the SFA can rely on full disclosure from you on that one.
It seems a long time ago that King’s victory over Big Mike was being hailed as a triumph in the media.
Little did we know till the accounts were published that a £3m cheque changed hands in favour of SD.
Here we are approaching June and no one knows when replica shirts and the likes will be on sale, or through which outlets they will be available. Why is that, what is the problem, some transparency Mr King?
All’s quiet on the COS/TOP issue which doesn’t mean that the wheels have stopped turning.
It’s an absolute mess and there will no doubt be a tipping point.
It could be next week, it could be next month.
In broad terms lets assume 50,000 ST at an average of £500, thats £25m tops, £20 after vat.
€15m from corporate etc, thats €35m in total, a 20% increase on the revenue reported in the last audited accounts.
£4m to Close Bros, say £10m in transfer fees for Gerrards must haves, that leaves just over €20m at the bank.
From the last accounts monthly running costs were £3m per month, the payroll has increased since then but lets stick with that number.
The £20m will be burned by November and thats assuming no one who has contributed via the soft loans will have been repaid.
The numbers don’t lie and if anything are a best case scenario.

Major corruption dating from 7 years ago to present – “move on!” “Don’t rake over the coals” ” punished enough” (always tickles me that one)

Minor misdemeanour said 12 years ago – “hang him!” ” Celtic told him to say it!” ” crime against ra peepul!”

The depth of their double standards knows no limits.

  9. Well Phil. Celtic park will make for an interesting place in September. Stevie G brings his new charges to Celtic park packed to the rafters with 60,000+ Celtic supporters.

Then the loudest, most passionate and stirring rendition of You’ll never walk alone ever sung at Celtic park rings out. There’ll be no prizes for guessing who all of the Sky cameras will be focussing on. And there will be standing a poker faced Stevie G in his blue blazer and brown brogues.

But we all know when you have a poker face on that you’re thinking completely differently to how your face looks. Inside he’ll be doing everything in his power to remain emotionless and all that he’ll be saying to himself is, ‘What the fuck have I just signed myself up for?’

  10. Much as it pains me to say this, Gerrard not only played a good game but can also talk one. Listen to his interview with Rio Ferdinand and even with the “Scally” accent, he comes across as bright, articulate and extremely knowledgeable about the game. Look up Zinedine Zidane’s quote about him and I think he will have no problem bringing those qualities to his managerial career. Perhaps “now” opposition players might play against Sevco in the hope of impressing him. I believe Celtic will have to find that mysterious higher gear that is often mentioned. Time will tell.
On a separate note and a genuine question.
If “Goldilocks” sang “in concert” with the three bears how come she is the only one asked to perform a solo in front of the judging panel.

    Reply
    • To answer your question, an email from one of the Three Bears (Letham, maybe?) warned King not to purchase quite so many shares, as it would breach the 30% ceiling and require them to bid for all outstanding shares. King ignored this warning, acting unilaterally. The TOP decided he should be the one to rectify the matter.
An even better question would be how King managed to purchase any shares at all. He claimed he could not lodge funds to make the share offer as he didn’t have a UK bank account, though this didn’t seem to be an issue in 2015.

  11. Phils prying eye lighting up the continuing blanket of darkness and bullshit. Evidently the aforementioned demand for a SFA enquiry into Mr Hughes is going ahead.
Bearing in mind this relates to something said in 2006 and was in the public domain ,he was not involved with the SFA at that time either.
Given the timespan this surely leaves further enquiries into Kings conduct together with other board members in the previous demise.
Hughes said it ,he admits he said it ,he should pull the rug from under them and resign.
A Pyyrhic victory followed by third party “demands ” for further choice enquiries could then follow.
We are collectively in trouble now with the latest Sevco signing, big dj has been appointed as a “company” ambassador. True to form he comes out with “its great to be back” FFS , followed by “the one thing is you cant fool the fans” FFS2 then stating he will continue wit his “fair ,direct and impartial take on Scottish football” FFS3. What a signing, good news for anyone that listens into Clyde radio ,as the rotund one will be on there somewhat less.

  12. As far as I’m concerned, with the slashing of our ticket allocation to Ibrokes, it should now be open season for Celtic Football Club to become proactive in seeking proper justice for the crimes of Dead Rangers and Sevco.

And I don’t just mean the reciprocal cutting of ticket allocations for Celtic Park!

This is a direct attack on our club and our fans!

It’s time now for Desmond and Lawwell to stand up for us and seek justice and to restore integrity to Scottish football starting with having the Lord Nimmo-Smith whitewash set aside and pushing for a new independent enquiry.

I would also like to see them keep up the pressure over the 2011 UEFA license and challenge any license given to them for European participation next season.

Let’s get the gloves off Celtic and put this lot back in their rightful place – League 2. After all, that’s where they came from.

  15. Here we go again. According to a well known journo Rangers have made a formal £4m bid for McBurnie from Swansea.
No doubt the make up of the ‘bid’ will be a shock to Swansea.
Nothing up front, fee payable over the length of the contract and including unrealistic add ons payable down the line.
As with Skrtel’s agent and Brighton during the initial Murphy negotiations, Swansea will be entitled to make the details of the offer public if the deal fails which it will unless a substantial downpayment is forthcoming.
Whichever ICAS member is in charge of cash flow at Ibrox he/she must be tearing their hair out trying to keep all the plates spinning.
Close Bros must be agog as sums of £3/4/5m are bandied about by their client and cheerleaders.
I suppose the additional £3m or so ST monies coming in for the Broomloan seats will help.

    • His ego is bigger than his brain, simple explanation.
Why spend years working through the leagues with Mk Dons or the likes when you can align yourself with the most dysfunctional club in the UK and attempt to shift Aberdeen from their position as best of the rest.
Gerrard and the rest of those ex football players turned pundits know hee haw about Scottish football.
Like Gerrard, they think he’s signed for Oldco, stacks of cash, sign who you want Stevie boy.
Reality will soon kick in but his agent will be happy that his client’s name is our there and his reputation is big enough to survive a catastrophe at Ibrox, which is inevitable.
Would be no surprise to see Gerrard, McAllister and Carracher all pulling on the jersey again, it would be an improvement on what’s there at the moment.
The Brighton defender one has gone quiet when apparently nearly over the line according to Ibrox sources!
Of course Brighton will know what they are dealing with now after the Murphy fiasco and wete not surprised to see interest wane when they asked for £2m up front.
Don’t they know the Ibrox club won’t be held to ransom?

  23. Phil welcome from “The Dear Green Place” and it certainly is after the last couple of weeks. Does the current situation in “Sevco Land” not remind you of the “Fall of the Roman Empire?”

Scotland is changing, albeit slowly. I am not a great admirer of our current incumbents in our Government Buildings/Assembly. They couldn’t manage a wedding. However outside of “Sevco Loyalists” most people have an understanding of what is going on. We are now in the throes of the last futile attempts of an arrogant Establishment Club, Corrupt Governing Body, Sectarian Policing and Complicit Media. They have all been exposed for what they are. The end game for all of them “It’s the Fenians that did it”. Meanwhile the crooks are given a free ride.

Honest to God here must be a PhD for some Political/Social Scientist/’Media undergraduate worth their salt in all of this. History awaits for someone. Keep at them Buddy. HH

  24. I think the move to limit the away fans at the Celtic v Sevco games to less than 900 on both sides is a very positive development, and will be welcomed by a significant majority of Celtic fans.

It will finally kill the outdated legacy concept of the “Old Firm” stone dead, and mean the Sevco game is now simply one more Celtic fixture against a mid-table SPFL side – one game among many.

For some time now, the majority of Celtic fans have wished to distance themselves from Sevco as an anachronistic embarrassment, harking back to the bad old days of Glasgow sectarianism, and incompatible with the modern, inclusive, European brand which Celtic has been building for the past 20-25 years.

The last thing standing in the path of that modernisation was, ironically, the games themselves, which attracted attention through the atmosphere generated by the significant numbers of opposing fans. Now that this element is to be (barring any glitches relating to police and security) removed for good – making the Sevco fixture just another date in the Celtic calendar, sandwiched alphabetically between Ross County and St Mirren – the past can finally and decisively be laid in the past.

It is good news not just for football, but for Scottish society as a whole.

The Old Firm is dead – long live Celtic.

Let’s hope the SFA don’t make a rod for their back. Perhaps a panel of interested Scottish clubs could discuss Cunningham’s
tizzy in a mature manner-in camera with all brogues left outside the door.
What such a conclave decide should be the end of it.
Prior to the decision participants should be reminded-“Let he among you that has not sinned, cast the first stone.”
Then the Compliance Officer ? can concentrate on the long standing issue we know as Resolution 12.
I see Sevco are now targeting an 8ft 6in Premier League prolific goal scorer…..he is reputed to have scored 114 goals in the first half of his last game.
This surely fits the Real Rangers Man criteria. The blond haired, blue eyed Adonis insisted on playing out the 90 minutes despite suffering a severed ear, dropped testicle, punctured naval and 879 assorted fractures. It was only when a medic sedated the titan with an injection to the left leg that common sense prevailed.
Media sources have confirmed a serious bid has been tendered, thought to be in the region of a wobbly Wi-Fi system, a good as new blazer, tie and slightly scuffed brogues.
Talks are on hold pending a Souness style medical.
