I am told that young Master Murts had a free and fair exchange of views yesterday with the Sevco High Command.
My information is that when he arrived at the centre of averageness formerly known as Murray Park his office had already been cleared out.
Apparently, Sevco had thought that the ex-Reading legend would resign from his role as caretaker boss.
Murty then countered by telling the Engine Room Subsidiary folk that he wanted to be paid up in full.
Sevco initially thought that he was referring to the caretaker role only.
Au contraire Murty told them, he wanted to be paid up for his entire contract at Ibrox plus bonuses!
I’m told that the Sevco High Command refused this request and then sacked him as the caretaker boss.
However, they told he could return to his old post from whence he came.
Consequently, Murts is now considering his options.
Moreover, I would not be surprised if he has taken legal advice apropos his situation.
This Murty business could get messy.

Heard Ashley might be coming back with a King exit. Thoughts?
Chinese whispers …
Hi Phil, I have a theory about the Gerrard situation. I wonder why king has has been hanging around Anfield like a bad smell lately, has he and Liverpool struck a secret deal for sevco to become a feeder club, is Gerrard being sent up to oversee the plan for king to have access to Liverpool fringe and youth players who may just be good enough to stop the ten, with emerging talent being cherry picked and sent South, they would acquire a ready made base in Scotland for little outlay, king is then hailed as a hero without spending a penny of his children’s inheritance, this is the only scenario that makes any sense to me. What do you think.
Hi Phil, can I run this past you. Why has king been hanging around anfield? has he been striking a deal that will see his club become a feeder club to Liverpool. The plan is to send Gerrard up to run the show, although he is a bit reluctant, king gets fringe and youth players disguised as loans, Liverpool get first pick of any emerging talent and a ready made base in Scotland for little outlay, king is seen as a hero for no outlay. This is the only scenario that makes any sense to me.
Can’t believe that the magnificently maned factotum has walked away! Always liked your wee references to him, Phil. Pro bono work etc etc.
Paul Murray and Barry Scott have resigned from the Sevco Board.
Something big is coming down the pike.
Oh and a certain Pay per View site …who complains bitterly about plagiarism…told a poster that he had been “busy in the Word Mines”.
I wonder where he got that from…?
Oh wait…I know.
I would also say that if he wrote his blog in Days of Yore….then his quill would be dripping vitriol onto his parchment.
You’d think he’d have better things to write about.
Dear oh dear oh dear.
Maybe Phil you could do a piece as how King & Johnston, who according to the S.F.A. have not been passed as fit & proper, are allowed to represent the toxic entity as directors. Also as to why the Scotland coach has not been pulled up on his disgraceful comments at the P.F.A awards
While I stress that I don’t think Gerrard will take the job, this thought occurs to me,IF he does, and they manage to cobble together some meagre funding,I would much rather they handed to a rookie than an experienced manager
I see the Govan bloggers are salivating at the comments of some well known former players who are hailing the appointment of Gerrard as a masterstroke by the Rangers board.
Ian Wright for instance talking about a massive club which goes to show just out of touch with Scottish football he and the other fawners are.
It’s not a massive club anymore, its fighting to establish itself as 2nd best in Scotland and another defeat in the run in could reduce it to 4th place in the table, totally reliant on Celtic winning the Scottish Cup to allow them entry to Europe next year via an early preliminary round and unseeded into the bargain.
If Gerrards advisors do not carry out due diligence on behalf of their client then hell mend them.
King, AJ, court cases a plenty, £25m of loans needing repaid, doubts over a UEFA licence, at least 20 players needing moved on, the fans are revolting,it’s crying out No, No,No.
If Stevie G signs up it’s clear that his ego is considerably bigger than his brain.
One of the reasons that former top level players don’t cut it as managers is that they are used to being coached by the best whilst playing alongside the best.
I think in time Gerrard has the attributes to be a top manager, however trying to fix the clusterfuck at Ibrox will be akin to turning water into wine
You have to laugh when you see words like dignity and class in the same sentence as Rangers.
The handling of Murty’s departure blows a hole in those lofty claims.
It’s not even clear if he resigned, was fired or left by mutual agreement, depending on what media source you get your news from.
The PR machine around Rangers is a shambles.
Many fans are now seeing through the Level 5 mist that has enveloped the club over the last few years.
It’s not very nice to find out that your ST money has been used to fund lies and misinformation put out there to deflect attention from the multiple failures of an incompetent board.
Each managerial appointment over the last few years has been trailed as the most important in their history, yet the board has consistently got it wrong with the catastrophic appointment of Pedro up there as one of the most bizzare appointments in football history.
Yet the board responsible for that calamity is still in situ.
The oft referred to gap is the width of the Grand Canyon.
Broonie and Lustig were openly laughing in the faces of their opponents on Sunday.
Halliday and Morelos were constantly mocked by the Celtic fans.
The board sitting in the Directors box were subjected to mocking banter from the Celtic fans around them.
Another abject performance on Saturday will provoke a reaction around the Ibrox directors box, no doubt with venom replacing the banter.
The answer…….Stevie G, a fantastic player with a great career at the highest level but, outwith the Anfield kids, not an ounce of managerial experience.
This is the definition of desperation and is the last throw of the dice from a board with their backs to the wall.
It’s ST time and without a massive uplift the club’s financial situation will be dire.
No doubt Gerrard signing on the dotted line will be box office. Where the funding is coming from to support the immediate turnaround demanded by King is anybody’s guest.
Meanwhile across the City Brendan will be improving the squad, preparing for another tilt at CL qualifiers and the £30m plus at the end of that rainbow.
There will be no settling in period for Stevie G, no allowances for his lack of managerial experience, the expectations of the fan base, board, and blue facing media will be huge.
I doubt if he would survive one humbling defeat to Celtic given those expectations.
What about European football nrxt season?
Has the SFA found a way to wave through another UEFA licence application from Ibrox?
What about the 2012 fraudulent application? Is AJ still on the SFA’s not yet F&P step?
Where is the Compliance Officer’s review of SFA licencing procedures, 8 months and counting since he was handed the task by Regan?
Will Gerrard be good for Sevco, possibly , but for sure Sevco will not be good for Gerrard, this is only going to seriously damage and future ambitions he holds for progressing in management.
Is that Hugh from WKGC fame?
How are they still operating ?, the 3 mill must be well gone by now
Would any other club get away with not following after match protocols!
When are the SPFL/SFA going to stand up to them?
How long to investigate the UEFA licence fiasco?
Would UEFA not do it quicker themselves?
The public statement about Hibs tickets allocation
Again if any other club made the same comments would the authorities be happy with it?
Of course they always stand back and do nothing when it is Sevco in action.
Of course Mr Gerrard should be asking such questions as well as asking for confirmation of any “war chest” availability
Steven Gerrard’s imminent appointment when or if all is agreed is going to help Rangers a lot as I’m sure he will be signing lots of talented Liverpool U23’s on loans which will suit both clubs.
The undoubted Celtic class gap and finances will ensure that we remain top dogs though for a very long time.
Looks like Russian roulette finances again The glib is on record as saying sevco can only get out the shite by champions league money if it goes wrong they will just shut up shop as per usual. and p n c pay no cnut Straight from Sir mintys school of thought They can’t handle not being a big club better get used to it
What a disgrace they are. He tried his best under terrible conditions and is treated like shit in the end.
Absolute scum bags over there.
Hope he screws them for every penny he can and more. Also hope Gerrard takes the job. There’s no chance of him stopping 10 in a row.
Not forgetting of course that Mr Murty was not or could never be One Of The People. I listened to the Rev I Am Jolly IE Radio Rangers for over an Hour on Sunday and Sunday Night at The London Palladium hadn’t a look in . Give the Mob their due though it nearly slipped a couple of times regarding Mr Murty that shame on him he is a Tim although the inference was definitely there in the background. Michael O Halloran although didnt get Absolution and was condemned even though he never kicked a Ball. The mobs language though has certainly changed at least for the moment on Stephen Gerrard. Who has probably gone from being a Fenian Bastard to now being known as Stevie G. as in one of the Untouchables. Of course should he take the job and I know from first hand that Stevie G. really likes money ( well we’re all the same ) he will cost them plenty of the new Tenners and Fifers that they really don’t have . Even as we approach another walking season there is still no change in the Peoples attitude and men from Mo Jo to Neil McCann whom especially tried his best in the Famous Sing Song along side Mr Findlay weren’t accepted and neither will Stevie G. for at the end of the day he’s just not one of them. Am also sure that Stevie Gs wife has had at least a little read into the Background of the Famous Glasgow Sevco and am sure she wouldn’t want to go for a Sunday Stroll in a West of Scotland park with her Daughter Lourdes after her Husbands team has been humped again by the Celtic. Of course Stevie G. Could accept the job and do it on the sort of same terms as King David does his .Keep himself and Family down South take training on Skype and Fly up and down on Match Days. Thanks for the early morning reads Phil and am like you I hope Mr Murty takes them for every penny he can get . O just as P. S. The people’s Radio also mentioned Mr am not a Bigot Traynor for the chop but then agreed that any blame could not really be laid at his Door. He after all is One Of Them.
Can’t see him screwing them over unfortunately. We heard no more regarding compensation for Warburton, Weir, Caxihna, Barton etc, etc They have all gone quietly and kept their gobs shut.
Agree with general concern that Graeme Murtry’s contractual rights must be honoured, though in all likelihood only after Sevco are pulled in front of his or her Honour to explain. On the question of honour, it is also of concern that Steven Gerrard’s honour is at stake in this latest debacle. We can, however, disregard the opinions of a South African judge and rest assured that GASL is an honourable man (tm William Shakespeare in Julius Caesar).
Complete mystery to me why anyone takes a job at Ibrox, or why any club sells to them. If we can keep abreast of what’s going on thanks to the likes of your good self Phil, why is it that no one in the world of football seems to know the score?
I’m baffled, frankly…
The reason is that the SMSM don’t tell the full story. As far as the non-Scottish contingent is concerned TRFC is a big club with huge potential but, unfortunately, just going through a bad spell currently!
Phil,
Your uninformed anti-Lawwell bias comes through again; why? I know you want to paint everything Irish green to do with Celtic’s current period of dominance. Please be fair and don’t embarass our Scottish club from Irish roots. A more balanced view on “heated driveways” and the FULL board and Chief Exec’s appointment of Ronnie Deila is available on that well informed CQN blog should anyone wish to go looking.
Regards.
Pep (4th generation Irish immigrant on my mum’s side for info)
What’s the situation with compensation for Warburton and Weir? Is that dead in the water?
I’m wondering this too. They have contracts, which weren’t honoured, and it’s dragged for this long. When I was 16 I took a fortnight off from my local newsagents for a family holiday, got it approved by the Asst Manager. His boss, who was never there, claimed there was no record of my leave and treated it as unauthorised absence, I was fired and replaced (by her sister). Took it to CAB and by the time I won the tribunal four months had passed, they had to pay me double time for the whole period. How can a child enforce his employment rights and Warbiola/Pedro can’t?!
Surely the people who represent managers should be looking at how this club ” conducts ” resignations .
If they refuse Murty his whole contract ? The no confidentiality clause should be signed ! Heaven forbid he , the great warbiola should tell us what really goes on whilst they try to wooo Stevie with a bundle of scratch cards with the ” it could be a fortune ? ”
Cancelling the comedy channel and UK gold. This club provides all the entertainment I need ???
Rumours abound that Honey G (of X Factor past) and not Stevie G is the unfotunate one to take the stage at Edmonston Drive Studios. Analysing constructively, this would fit well with the entertainment on show at present. Keep tuned for Tour updates, S Africa being touted as new venue ??????
Take a ticket, Murts. There’s a line in front of you …
Kingsnake spot on.
Good luck to any of these guys who think that there is a square deal in Scotland with matters concerning Sevco.
Court case after court case and nothing happens, reminds you of the Teflon don,as DCK is above the law.
Now we have people telling us that millions are available, which will be good news for their creditors.
Come on SG make our day by keeping the comedy going,as this will rank alongside your mistake that cost Liverpool the league.
By offering him a job of similar nature they have avoided the need to pay him off. The Sevco hr team are learning
They’re not learning enough.
You sack me, which is stressful enough, but then you humiliate me further by just saying I can have my old (less prestigious) job back. I have no respect in this workplace, how can you possibly expect me to do this? At best, constructive dismissal. At worst, harassment. With all the concomitant health risks.
A good union sponsored employment lawyer will ragdoll their HR as effectively as, well, Odsonne did Martin and co., James did Hallida-ay Andy Halliday, KT did POTY Dan, Dedryck did Cumdog. And so on…….
Pay up his contract you charlatans. It’s the least he deserves.
Another thing has just occurred to me. GM has repeatedly said he was in the job until the end of the season, and I believe there have been statements from the company confirming that. Sounds like breach of contract by the company to me.
Constructive Dismissal
As usual, from Sevco, a dreadful way to treat anyone and flies in the face of common decency and most likely employment law.
If Steven Gerrard takes this job and thinks he will be treated any better then he is truly an idiot.
Celtic , with much more resources, a better management team and football squad will steam-roller him just like they did with Warburton, Caxinha and Murty.
Inevitably, the fans will turn on him and he will be “resigned” like the rest.
Hopefully like Derek McInnes, he’s sensible enough to give it a miss, but hell mend him if he does.
DB
Exactly how many managers and co-managers fit under a bus anyway ?
Depends if it is on fire at the time or not.
Isn’t there any HR / legal professionals there at all or did they get ‘resigned’ as well. Seems they like a bit of industrial tribunalling down Ibrox way. Will they ever learn?
Exactly. I hope S G is taking note
