The post-match grumbles today from some of the Celtic support are highly instructive of the epoch of Fitba unipolarity that they are currently living through.
Motherwell, with a man down, were resolute and deserved the draw.
Now the champions of Scotland go into the international break ten points head with a game in hand.
The only variable will be the margin of victory at the end of the season when Celtic retain the SPFL title.
The valued customers of Espanyol Glasgow can only look on as it is party time at Parkhead one more.
I am very grateful that I don’t know how it feels to be Sevco.
Yet, seven days ago some in the Stenography Corps were probably preparing triumphant copy for a Sevco win over Celtic.
Certainly, the tone of the reportage in the build-up to the league clash at Ibrox betrayed a giddy excitement among the hacks that Murty and his chaps could actually do it.
Of course, that didn’t happen.
The victory of Kilmarnock yesterday merely compounded the difficulties for the chaps in the press box in their role to tell The People that everything will be fine.
It won’t.
Anyone tasked with keeping the spirits up within the Ibrox Volkstaat has a really difficult job.
I fully appreciate that it cannot be easy to constantly have to churn out feel-good clickbait for The People on a daily basis.
However, that endeavour cannot be characterised as resembling journalism.
The role of the Fourth Estate is to hold the powerful to account.
It is not to reassure a fascist mob that they really are The People.

If the Fitba Fourth Estate wanted to try their hand at journalism then they could be looking at the finances at Ibrox.
Specifically, they could be examining just how some Brothers view the current cash flow issues at Sevco.
My information is that margins are desperately fine there.
However, are they dangerously Close?
It is a matter of public record that the Ibrox stadium is “dilapidated”.
However, is it the finances of Sevco that needs some urgent restructuring work?
These are questions worth asking, but you will not see them asked in the mainstream.

Then there is the Take Over Panel issue for Mr King.
That hasn’t gone away you know.
If he is RIFC chairman when that drops then there could be a contagion throughout the basket of assets.
I fully realise that none of this will register with The People.
They state that they Don’t Do Walking Away.
Well, they certainly Don’t Do Thinking Ahead.
Second in the league is their ceiling.
That must be tough to take when you have been socialised into a Herrenvolk supremacism.
Celtic will win their 7th consecutive title with a bit to spare.
Anything else is mere detail.

Well said Therese,Not Browns fault guy got sent off, also think its
About time someone at our club contacted the Refs or SFA,gets kicked
Up&down the park in most games, yet rarely anything done BT the refs
Surprised he hasn’t been out for a while yet with a serious injury the way
He is treated most games
With my Claret and Amber goggles, it was a very soft red card. Scott Brown is a captain of Celtic and Scotland, his antics on Sunday did not befit these positions. 6th place for the ‘Well as a result of Sevco demotion, joy of joys. Might even bring more smiles than the 6-1 play off thumping a couple of years ago. Thank you Phil, as you know your work is valued by more than just the Celtic faithful.
Many thanks Jim.
I have a few buddies who follow the Well.
I don’t believe Kipre should have been sent off for that incident yesterday, although he should have been immediately red carded for his vicious tackle on Moussa in the Cup game at Hampden.
However McHugh, who had previously been booked, cleaned out a Celtic player, with no attempt to play the ball, and definitely should have been sent off, an incident which was highlighted on Sportscene last night.
So justice done then. After all we keep being told that these things even themselves out.
It’s not all doom and gloom down Govan way this week as the guys in the blue room don’t have to fork out win bonuses for the past 2 matches!
Some signs of genuine journalism over at the Daily Radar this morning as Jackson rips into King.
However Keith’s memory isn’t what it was as he credits the DR with exposing Whyte’s deal with Ticketus months after those pesky internet guys had exposed the deal and funnily enough he seems to have completely blanked the fact that it was himself, Jacko, who introduced the Motherwell billionaire with wealth off the radar to the Oldco fans.
The guy, and his paper, are washed up.
He goes on to demolish Murty’s credentials as a Newco manager less than 2 weeks after bigging him and his team up and how a title race was in the offing.
Oh I noticed yesterday in Gordon Waddell’s column that the Sunday Mail appear to have done away with proof readers as he got his Fir Park and Firhill’s confused.
Says a lot about the state of the industry when the writer can’t even be bothered to reread his article and amend the most basic mistakes.
The motherwell manager (a forget his name) states his players are always getting booked or sent off!.
Here’s a wee tip pal, if ye send your teams out too clatter the opposition, chances are you’ll end up a few men short!! Simples.
Oh dear. If Newco had won the game last week and against Killie on Saturday it would almost be neck and neck. If …….
Not Celtic’s best yesterday, hopefully keeping the good stuff for the cup semi final.
King’s about to bring the house down with his non response to the COS order with SARS looking on in case NOAL come up with the funds taking their total ‘investment’ to around £20m.
With no need to sell Morelos in the last window and assurances from Robertson that the club/company/thingy is well funded to see out the season Newco fans must be delighted at the progress being made on and off the park.
Murphy is adamant that he will not be going back to Brighton and its a done deal. Lets say £1.5m, added to the Close Bros loan repayment and Docherty’s fee, will take over £7m out of the ST intake.
The parent clubs of the current loanees won’t be signing up to long term repayment plans so if Cummings, Martin and Goss are wanted then hard cash will be required, though Goss after strutting his stuff against Falkirk and Ayr United is quickly losing his pin up status.
Not a peep about a new merchandising deal despite the praise heaped on King for winning the battle with Ashley and Sports Direct.
Spare a thought for those who have ponied up to keep the lights on so far. With no debt for equity swop on the horizon and the chance of recouping their investment somewhere between slim and none they must be wondering why they signed up to King’s revolution.
With the UEFA licencing process well under way for next season and alarm bells ringing around the 2012 application will the SFA issue a licence to the ‘same’ club and individuals that lied through their teeth then, or for licencing issues only will Newco win their approval?
UEFA FFP rules?…… Don’t apply in Bonnie Scotland apparently.
George Kerr…when Brendan finally calls it a day you should be top of the list to replace him.
If you take into account the number of games played by Celtic in our respective cup tournaments and especially the timing of the European games together with the nature of the proceeding league games and venues then our overall performance is nothing short of phenomenal.
Further at one point we had an entire viable team out injured ,which has by and large been glossed over.
We are on the hunt for a back to back treble ,an absolutely unbelievable achievement if we secure it.
Of course if we do ,then it will undoubtedly be undermined as an achievement by all and sundry, but FFS lets not sell it short ourselves.
These are days of milk and honey , jelly and ice cream, lap it up .
I had the privilege of watching Celtic throughout big Jocks tenure .
I also watched our games through the torture of them cheating and fraudulently “winning” nine in a row.
This is our time ,done with style and football and backed up by class acts like the bould bhoy Phil, dont take it for granted , soak it up , and get real. yours in Celtic John
Well said John, remember for Celtic to win anything is a major achievement with the hurdles we face, to do a treble let alone back to back will be some achievement indeed.
Walker Cocker, the most depressing broadcast pairing for the average Celtic fan. They seem to through any attempt at impartiality out of the window to goad and mock. Thompson as ref was, in all probability, wrong to send off Kipre, who deserved a yellow, but I think he was probably trying to even up Collum and Brother Ross’s hasty red last week (the men in black always think long term).
Celtic dominated but did not score after spectacular Carson saves. Motherwell showed why they deserve a top six finish, and I am sure they will secure it (god help Sevco who could yet end up seventh).
Phil….Alex Rae was on radio Scotland yesterday and quoted Dave king from a few weeks ago in London…rae said king said “rangers are paying out £87k a week on players who are not kicking a ball” that’s a story right there that won’t be in the smsm.
“Ibrox Volkstaat” … Does that make the Sun or Daily Ranger the Volkischer Beobachter?
Why do Celtic defenders pass the ball to each other too soon. Surely you take the ball to the opposition, then pass the ball, moving up the field at the same time. Boring is a word I don’t like to use, but the Celtic defenders are getting more of the ball than the midfielders and forwards. C’mon Brendan get the sequence correct. This fancying about at the back brings more problems than rewards.
Can we also rid ourselves of Boyata, he really isn’t Equipped to be at Celtic. Also time to say farewell to Lustig, Bitton, Dorus, and Jozo. Get us a centre back that strike the fear in the opposing team. We boned a backbone in the team to build from.
Get Roberts signed, along with Armstrong, if he wants to stay. We have the funds, time we manned up and set the pattern for the future. Get on with it!
Spot on. Well said mate
It should probably be pointed out that Boyd has scored more goals against the club currently playing out of Ibrox than he scored for them.
Id say Motherwell were lucky to get a player sent off.
“If the Fitba Forth Estate wanted to try their hand at journalism then they could be looking at the finances at Ibrox.”
Think you must be up there in The Clumpany’s ethereal world Phil if you even harbour the slightest of thoughts that it could happen. You have called them out more times than I could shake a stick at them.
We all know good journalists who hold the powerful to account . Our sports journalists in Scotland are not good journalists, they are as you say stenographers and not even competent ones. I tend to view them as bottom feeding stenographers.
You nice picture of the Jabba, although we refer to him as The Jobby, speaks volumes. Most managers would have responded to his gesturing by stopping their presser with calmness , leaving their microphones and desk, and with great dignity give Mr Jabba the hardest boot in the sacs ever seen ,to the extent that hislittle sweetbreads dropped out of his nose.
If only Carlsberg did baw bootings.
Thank you sir . HH
Fred Williams you naughty boy
You are never a hoops supporter with comments like that
I suspect you are a visitor from the dark side
Your views are utter bull**it and don’t belong in a forum such as this
The boy Cidre has been dishing out GBH all season just look at his red Card total
He deserved all he got no sympathy
As for you Fred do one, your comments are as unwelcome as you are !
Listen Jimmy. I am a Celtic fan but I don’t see things through green tinted specs. Brown was in the wrong yesterday.
Simple
Oh look….
Kipre got his red card recinded! !
All the abuse I took on here. Tut tut
HH
Aye Phil, I was grumbling at the Celtic performance today, sloppy passing, too slow at getting the ball forward, etc. Most of all though, I’m hacked off as I had £5 on a twenty team accumulator for just under £500 and Celtic were the only losers!!
It’s nearly a year since The Lying King was told to make an offer, How much longer does he have before he’s breaking the rules this time?
If you had offered me a point last week at Ibrox(6 pointer) I would have taken it. As long as we had won today. As it happens a win last week and a draw today is a better combination of results. It is all about the full season. Fir Park is, and always has been a hard place to play. Its been a good weekend all round, bottom line. Poor refereeing By Craig Thomson, ruined what was a good game at the time. Nothing in the incident, and Scott Browns reaction was fairly low key, so I dont know what all the fuss is about. Again poor judgement by a narcissistic referee, ruining the entertainment for the customer.
“Low key”. You ever played football mate?. Our captain goaded the guy and got him a straight red card.
Let’s not be like Sevco and sugar coat shite here. Brown was in the wrong. Pure and simple.
HH
Ok, a “low key” exaggerated response by our captain and leader trying to get an edge and possibly trying to deflect from pushing Kipre while on the ground. I never said he was not in the wrong. These incidents go on all the time, rightly or wrongly, and this for me was at the lower end of the scale. I can only conclude you assume our Captain was cheating. Is that sweet enough for you ?
Yes it is
Brown wasn’t in the wrong but it shouldn’t have been a red card. Scott Brown will always be a red flag in waiting but he’s a clever player and has had more than his share of bad ref decisions.
How was Scott Brown a disgrace the guy kicked him when he was down the ref seen it sends him off brown never sent him off. Kieran Tierney gets assaulted every week and the refs do feck all now you’re moaning cause one does what he’s supposed to do ya walluper
We’re we watching the same game? The guy Kipre is a bombs care. Yes he was a tad late on Brown but nothing in it at all. Brown then pushes him as he gets up (goading in my book) and the guy takes a real poor kick out which DOES NOT CATCH our captain. Brown makes a meal of it and the boy gets a straight red card.
Brown got sent off v Barca for a lesser challenge nobody said it wasn’t a Red slated him for being stupid if Kipres kick out would have been in a European game he would have been sent off no appeal 2 game ban same as Scott Brown
Agreed Paul!
Craig Thompson is a decent referee and is most certainly not narcissistic as suggested above.. He does not employ the stupid facial expressions of some other so called referees or try to draw attention to himself. Players generally respect and respond well to him. He may sometimes make an incorrect decision, but he calls it as he sees it. There is no agenda and I thought he had a good game today. I would have preferred 11 v 11, but Cipre stupidly kicked out. The referee made a decision on what he saw. Motherwell deserved their point, as did Celtic. End of story.
This is not the case. The referee implied the motherwell player “stamped” on Brown.
THERE WAS NO STAMP
so the ref got that 100% wrong
I would agree with that assessment . I have always thought Thompson the best of the bunch by far. Stupid kick out from Cippre, not much contact but the intention was there and that .s what counts or should.
Normally I support the veracity of your reporting Phil, I really do.
This time however I have to take exception.
Remember Aberdeen have a game in hand on the team who play at Ibrox these days, so their ceiling may yet prove to be a bridging loan too far.
While working overseas this month I watched a catch up programme on the French Ligue 1 where they delved into the financial miss-management going on at Lille at the moment. The French Federation has stated that unless the club stabilise its finances and operates within regulations it will relegate the club to Ligue 2, regardless of their final position in the championship. Very similar stance the the SFA and Sevco; or not…
Forget tactics and even VAR. Football comes down to two basic tasks…..
Trying to get the baw IN the goal and trying to keep the baw OUT the goal.
Motherwell did the latter much better than we attempted the first, even with a man less.
Scott Brown was a disgrace with his actions which led to the red card. I remember the Neymar incident with Scott in the CL.
I am a Celtic fan but our captain needs retrospectively banned for this today.
Motherwell were extremely well organized. I can see there Manager replacing McInnes at the Sheep.
Credit where it is due. Motherwell defended really well.
HH
Scott Brown a disgrace?, Is that you Andy Walker?.. The guy gets kicked from pillar to post all season by just about anyone who believes they can get man of the match and free beer for life if they snap him in two. Before Kipre kicked out at him he lunged in with a two-footed tackle that could have seen Scott out for the rest of the season and more. So spare me the faux outrage at the actions of a man who will no doubt go on to be seen as a Celtic player up there with the best of them and a fantastic captain and servant to the club.
Hail Hail Broony.
Brown being a great servant and captain has fuck all to do with it Steff.
His actions got the guy a red card.
Remember the “rat” Neymar doing exactly the same to Brown a few years back and we were all going nuts.
Can’t have it both ways for me.
Rubbish the wee kick out is what got kipre red carded nothing more kicked out connected with mr browns thigh end of story.
Well said Steff This our captain is a disgrace rubbish from a so called Celtic supporter is just wrong What about the time Kirpe 2 footed Broony and all the niggles he gave till he rightly got sent off Are you sure you support Celtic or are you just try to get a job commentating on Sky tv Were you just as vocal when Keiran Tierney nearly had his shin snapped
Well said Therese,Not Browns fault guy got sent off, also think its
