Interrupted Christmas stories

I’m afraid to report that the regular meeting of the Sevco High Command today was somewhat lacking in harmony.

Apparently, my exclusive on the small matter of invoice financing caused extreme distress in the Blue Room.

Indeed, even the esteemed chairman was moved to accuse several brethren of disloyalty.

He did not telephonically attend the conclave.

However, his displeasure was relayed by a Magnificently Maned factotum to the assembled brethren.

The reasoning was that someone within Ibrox had to have leaked this scoop to your humble correspondent.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Quintessentially British anger in the Blue Room was down to the fact that the story about invoice financing was utterly true.

Of course, I never discuss sources.

The first reaction of some of the Sevco High Command was to firefight the story through the usual stenographers.

However, the Serious Professional counselled caution on the matter, to the point where he thought that the intervention of their intergalactic PR guru might actually do more harm than good.

I think that the late night jilted lover statement apropos Derek McInnes has rather damaged his professional credibility even in the Blue Room.

The same extra-terrestrial communications genius had wanted to run a series of award-winning articles in the radar press about potential acquisitions over the festive period.

One of which was likely to be Louis Moult of Motherwell.

So the scene was set for some succulent speculation on the likelihood of the striker joining Sevco.

The utility function of this quasi-journalistic pish was to keep The People excited over Christmas.

Sadly, this fantasy was dashed by another club who actually have money to spend.

By meeting Motherwell’s valuation Preston have rather spoiled the Christmas fairy-tale.

Bah humbug!

  1. Celtic weren’t at the races today and Hearts fully deserved their win. I see plenty of irate fans spouting a load of nonsense on Twitter, it’s about time they got a grip and looked at the facts. A full season undefeated, a domestic treble, two CL qualifications which banked millions, a season were we simply smashed the huns all over the place. European football after Xmas, still top of the league, one trophy already won. Some are acting like huns with their sense of self superiority. We’ve been a bit ropey this season but last years achievments are a one off. We’ve loads to be proud off as supporters. A wee question, would we rather had the huns ending the run? It’s only three points and the tally at the end of the season is the only thing that matters. Calmness is needed, not hysteria over a really poor performance. In Brendan we trust.

It’s enough to make the Harmony scented factotum’s immaculate mane moult!

  3. Hi Phil,
Smashing stuff as usual. Sevco have turned hiding in plain sight into an art form. Especially when it involves dirty washing. As far as the hacks are concerned, complicty in this regard is duplicity. No wonder the newspaper industry is moribund.

I have to take you to task when you state there is a lack of Harmony. When the king of quaff is in the room there is at least a tin of Harmony on his grey nut.

    Has King fecked off…?

  7. Phil Alister Johnston and the Significant person; could you use this;
Chapter 2: Who are People with Significant Control (PSCs)?
    2.1. Introduction to PSCs
2.1.1. If you meet one or more of the following conditions in relation to a company then you are a PSC of that company. This means you will need to be entered on the PSC register. The conditions are explained in more detail in Chapter 5.
2.1.2. A PSC is an individual who meets any one or more of the following conditions in relation to a company:
    (i)
Directly or indirectly holding more than 25% of the shares (sections 5.1 and 5.4) 5,
Directly or indirectly holding more than 25% of the voting rights (sections 5.2 and 5.4),
    (ii)
(iii) Directly or indirectly holding the right to appoint or remove the majority of directors (sections 5.3 and 5.4),
(iv) Otherwise having the right to exercise, or actually exercising, significant influence or control (section 5.5),
    (v)
Having the right to exercise, or actually exercising, significant influence or control over the activities of a trust or firm which is not a legal entity, but would itself satisfy any of the first four conditions if it were an individual (section 5.6).
2.1.3. You might find it easy to identify your interest in a company and determine whether you are a PSC, or your situation might be more complex and need clarification between you and the company. Some companies will not have anyone who meets the conditions, whereas other companies will have several people who meet one or more of the conditions and are PSCs (all of whom must be on the PSC register).

  9. Phil as you’re well aware, most of us non intergalactic magnificently coiffed brethren are accustomed to normal speak, many Celtic minded web sites, or dare I say almost all, manage to get their point across quite well while not reverting to Glesga speech, but to normal every day language, would it really detract from your quest in achieving awards to just let us know who the fek you’re talking about

  10. Cheers Phil,
Keep poking their hornets nest with a lengthy stick, preferably with the excremental end.Preston outdoing sevco surely shows the stressed financial state of the infant club, obviously it won’t appear in the daily ranger quite like that.
Cheers Phil and thanks for the update.HH?

    • From a “reliable” source. Moult would never have been interested in Sevco. Let us just say he has learned much in his short time here. I do think we could have taken a chance on him at the price. He would not been averse to that. From a “reliable” source.

  11. I knew…more than 4 weeks ago…that Moult was going to Preston.
I had been asked to keep my counsel.
Sevco were totally at it if they pretended otherwise…he was never remotely going there.

    • Hi Mike,

Still think Boyata’s the answer after that performance?

Simunovic being even worse doesn’t help either I know.

Both more than found out today.

Even the form of Kieran Tierney has suffered recently in our defence.

We need to give Ajer an extended run and bring in an experienced centre half and another right back in January.

The Bhoys have done magnificently in the last year and a half but help is now needed, particularly in defence.

You know I don’t think Boyata is good enough but I’m sure we can agree on most other things.

      Hail! Hail!
