Tonight in the Parc des Princes the biggest club in Scotland will definitely be up against it.
It would be an amazing upset if Brendan’s Bhoys were able to take anything from the PSG match.
However, after defeating Anderlecht on September 27th Celtic are still on course to be in European football after Christmas.
Of course, the rest of Planet Fitba would love to have Celtic’s problems.
Across the city from Parkhead, it is another world away.
Since the Off Licence Putsch in March 2015 the Dave King plan was quite clear.
It was that 11th hour liquidity crises would force other directors to stump up in order to keep the show on the road.
However, it was never a long-term strategy going forward.
I’m told that a recent conclave of the Sevco High Command was less than brotherly.
One of the major funders of this car crash stated that the days of the last-minute loans were over.
As per the recently published accounts of Rangers International Football Club (RIFC) Mr King has promised that he will meet the shortfall.
Moreover, he will deliver that before the end of THIS month.
That’s £2.9m as per the RIFC accounts.
So Dave has to pony up, as other sources of external finance within the Blue Room have definitely been Parked.
I recently asked a turnaround consultant to look over the RIFC accounts for the last two years.
This morning he said that the only route to survival would be an austerity programme.
That would include closing Auchenhowie and putting it up for sale.
Then cut budgets across all departments.
Austerity programmes are ever popular.
They are anathema to governments and football boards are no different.
I doubt myself that austerity will happen because of the emotional contract between the Sevco High Command and The People.
Regular readers will be amused at how the Bruno Alves story has now leaked from here and into the mainstream.
The reality is prosaic:
Sevco can’t afford him.
The potential parallels with the Joey Barton situation are striking.
Sevco just seems to be incapable of scoring these financial own goals every summer.
Perhaps Dave King is still thinking in terms of Old Firm; two big teams in Glasgow fighting it out.
For the avoidance of doubt, the home crowd at Ibrox are in the same mindset as the South African based entrepreneur.
However, the reality is that there is only one big club in Glasgow and they’re playing in Paris tonight.

So Phil will you please put us readers out of our misery and try and explain to my feeble minded noodle exactly HOW his Glibness means to fund this latest shortfall in the sevco accounts?? Or his he living up to his name, again?
Please help, have I been paying attention? Probably missed a crucial update.
If the viewer of the Paris game last night was impartial I’m sure it made for a veritable football feast, apart from the first minute goal,it was a very difficult watch for every Celtic fan.HH?
I can’t help feeling that Sevco are feckd and that the current position is that nobody wants to be the one to push the button.
Maybe they are waiting for a judge to do it for them who knows.
A difficult night but a memorable game and a huge lesson in attacking football in Paris. The Cavani, Neymar, Mbappe line up is perhaps the most lethal attacking force in footballing history. Celtic scored nonetheless and for a few minutes silemced the Stade de France. If we had scored again who knows? Meanwhile other nonfootballing difficulties mount up for Scottish football and are at their worst at the apparently totally unregulated Sevco. There are many agencies and individuals to blame but perhaps there is a need for a football equivalent of a truth and reconciliation process. That should however not get in the way of getting rid of the fraudsters and blunderers responsible for running the national game into the ground.
Incapable of not scoring these financial own goals. Barton, Warburton, Alves, Herrera et al. Remarkable that they lack the capacity to learn from their repeated mistakes, nonetheless hilarious.
But … is he no’ penniless? Or was his lawyer just telling a glib and shameless lie?
Unfortunately, Celtic now seem to be powered by petrol to the CL big guns rocket fuelled transport.
That was a very painful watch .
Yep….and what was the score
Sell Murray Park? Where’s a starlet to eat his world class breakfast!?
I am sure the takeover panel will be interested to know that the man that hadnt a pot to piss in a few months back is ponying up millions (don’t laugh) to keep the lights on!!
That man is not to be believed. But the Sevco fans and the Msm will , Oh long may this Circus continue HH
I am at a loss as how he can bail them out, only weeks ago his legal rep stood in front of a judge and declared his client skint, impecuniousity was your word of the day.
I know most of the beaks in ‘Fair Caledonia’ will be brothers but this is being conducted right in front of Joe Publics nose.
Is there nothing in Scotland that isn’t tainted by the masonic cabal??
£#@¥in§ shocking in today’s society,I was about to put progressive, but it isn’t appropriate there.
C’mon the Hoops ?☮️?✅
Dave Boy’s learned friend described his client as “penniless”. However it is plausible that he has access to a magic money tree. Such a tree has properties that bemuse Scotland’s judiciary and football authorities. Still the wage bill needs cut, perhaps a Pied-Piper like chap could lead some staff to a river. But wait, has this pantomime not already been performed. I can still see a certain Mr Davies from Norn Ireland orally gratify the badge on his jersey…acceptable enough, having trousered some dodgy “earnings” beforehand. When an ordorous substance collided with the air-conditioning unit, the loyal chap er legged it.
And of course a glib and shameless liar can always be fully relied upon..
So sevco 2012 are relying on a guy whose lawyer said in court last month was penniless .
What could possibly go wrong .
That said ,do auditors and judges just stick their fingers in their ears and chant LA,LA,LA after the GASL
tells them something
no answer needed
The blue pound paradox will save them………..
And Dave is a man of his word, he will be opening that £50M war chest.
Please is it not the case Mr king stated he was skint not so long ago is he going to pull it out the air what have we to believe
Sir Sdm got his pal at the bank to call in Celtics loan so that celtic would be liquidated rangers then hopefully have a clear run at c.l money pay off their debt keep him and his pal out of jail along came a man from Canada you know the rest
Most working people dream of winning the lottery… even if they never buy a ticket… then we fantasize about how we would spread the lucre around…. What kind of mind set drives people who have made …”off the radar money”… in genuine businesses to pour their hard earned lucre in to a pile of crap in Govan… especially when all the ghastly moves by past …”masters”…. are on public record… add to that the failed ideology of the Klan…. who in their right mind would lash out for that…. serious lack of taste chaps… no matter how shiny you’re brouges are…. unbelievable….!!!
I wouldn’t hold my breath for anything that Liar says but the MsM and sevco fans will believe it again , long may this Circus continue HH
Times have changed and the Ibrox big yins are still living in the days of sail and steam while the rest of football strives to embrace the digital revolution.
Today, I’ll mostly be singing “Old Admirals” by Al Stewart.
“And (I) sometimes think in all this world the saddest thing to be
Old Admirals who feel the wind and never put to sea [or play in UEFA group stages]”
Ha ha ! Love it , great line,
If you are suggesting that no more blank cheques are forthcoming from the 3 bears does this mean that the new club is facing a 15 point penalty for an admin event?
No, at all.
Mr David Cunnigham King has promised to meet the shortfall.
I could promise to meet the shortfall for anything that Sir Glib does not provide but that would make both he and I liars…..
A fool and his money are easily parted… Mr King might know this…. clearly Mr Park doesn’t…
Unless moi mistaken…. ???
And he will, Phil… honest! Mr King is a fine, upstanding man of morals and principles. He’ll come good – wait and see!! After he’s offered up the 20p a share to satisfy the TAP, and paid back the soft loans, him and Hassanal Bolkiah will proceed with their plans to over-invest. It’s true, because Dave’so lips moved when he told me! ?
Would this be the same Dave King who told a court that he is basically broke ?
If so, then the question is a simple one.
Is he lying to the courts, or the fans ?
If the former, then it’s perjury and prison. The latter … well, we all know how cuddly and friendly the Ibroxians are.
What will the takeover panel case make of this. His brief said he was penniless
Bwaaaaahahah, Phil!
Laughed so hard I shat my boxers?
That’s an aye then
I am pleased that he has found a way to move his funds from South Africa. It must have been so frustrating for him to have so much wealth yet not be able to spend it.
Aye. And how is that going to square with his legal counsel stating, on his behalf, in the Court of Session that he was potless. The lies boggle the mind. You couldn’t give him a red neck with a blow torch!!!
Ah all’s well then!
Just don’t mention TOP or lack of available funds…
Oops !
A King promise is like a Scottish weather forecast.
It always ends up raining.
His word is his bond.
I believe Dave is a true visionary, funding the shortfall , the 12m required for the debt for equity, Pedros payoff, the roof repair bill and funding the warchest for his new manager .
If he is true to his word, and who am I to doubt him he really will be impecunious before this is all over.
I thought that he was broke. At least that what he told the court a couple of weeks ago. If he ponies up to bail out the club then it puts him in contempt of court, surely?
