United champions and squabbling caravans

As Celtic prepare to take on Bayern Munich tonight the Champions League the less fortunate on Planet Fitba don’t have their troubles to seek.

I’m told that Pedro and Mr Moderator had another free and fair exchange of views yesterday morning.

It seems to have emerged after a misunderstanding at training that could’ve been linguistic in origin.

Lost in translation and all that…

This miscommunication then led to the player’s agent having a tense discussion with the Serious Professional.

The representative felt that his client’s reputation was being trashed by the Poundland Mourinho.

Therefore, it was no surprise to see the agent David Baldwin going public about the situation via Instagram.

This is definitely a developing story.

I learned today that there WAS an injection of funds last month to cover payroll but the caravan will need further supplies later this month.

Of course, this is the sort of narrative that the stenographers would love to witness unfolding across the city.

Alas, it is happening to their beloved basket of assets.

For Celtic it is now time, once more, to be in the place of Champions.

That is a reality that Sevco can only dream of.

  1. As far as I’m led to believe the money has to be spent on development of young players and “colt” teams playing in development leagues. I remember reading this some time ago,so balancing the books doesn’t count.

  2. Phil, with the gift from the success in Europe of Celtic. Surely the cheque they bank will keep the lights on a little bit longer?
When do you think it will all come crashing down on Sevco?

      • All credit to you Phil, I’m a fan of your work, But your link is to your on the mark report of monies due to clubs from their finishing position on the league. Today another payment courtesy of the hoops showing on the C.L last season, has been paid to the 11 clubs in the SPL last season. Still not enough to solve all the sevco woes but yet again theu get a humble windfall to keep the lights on. I would still advocate that the terms of SPL membership are not being implememted; that being that a club can demonstrate at season start that they can bankroll their participation. A penniless owner is one thing, but a continuous cap in hand policy toward the directors does not represent a guarantee of fulfilling that criteria.

    • Your second question can’t be answered with any certainty.
As long as someone is prepared to write a cheque at the 11th hour then Sevco can stumble on.
However, they’re limping from crisis to crisis.

    • Just tuned in for the game tonight and they’re discussing the windfall. When the presenter said the sum involved might represent a new player or two in the January sales, Scott MacDonald came out with a wonderful remark “Or balancing the books if you spent too much in the summer.” Wonder if he had anyone in particular in mind?
