The Carlos and Dave show

It is good to hear that Carlos Alberto Peña Rodríguez is taking full advantage of the international break.

I don’t think that he isn’t playing for his country, but he probably thought that he deserved a break too!

That is the only reason that I can think why didn’t show for training this morning.

However, I’m sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation.

Meanwhile, things are less than brotherly within the Sevco High Command.

Mr David Cunningham had a Churchillian conversation with a fellow director about this Take Over panel thingy.

The South African based entrepreneur was keen to get the views of this senior member of the Sevco High Command.

I think that Mr King was surprised to hear that it was the view of his colleague that the ruling of the Take Over Panel was a problem for Mr King and for him alone.

This was clearly not what the chap south of the Limpopo wanted to hear.

Perhaps because he was so upset at this apparent lack of support that he reminded his Blue Room brother of one possible scenario.

He mused that the Take Over Panel might be interested to learn that £1.5m of Mr King’s original investment was borrowed from the man he was talking to!

That could place the senior Blue Room chap very much in the frame.

At the moment it is only Mr King who is the focus of the Take Over Panel and the regulators have made that quite clear in their published statements.

Suffice to say the other man was incensed that this possibility was postulated and as no agreement was forthcoming between them the issue was then Parked.

Meanwhile, I hope that Señor Peña Rodríguez continues to be thankful for his blessings as he did at Dingwall on Sunday.

I’m sure that no one at Sevco, not even an ex-director, will have any problems whatsoever with such public manifestations of piety.

  1. It won’t be Java, Phil.
Javascript is the language of the browser. They are unrelated despite the apparent similarity.

  2. Lots of talk about late bids for Moussa but what would be his value in the current, especially EPL market, that has gone mental in the last few weeks.
John Evans, 30 something with no sell on value, £30m, and £40m fees regularly changing hands for
A 21 year old goalscorer, with his best 10 years ahead of him? There is no value that can be placed on Dembele. A good showing in the CL Group Stages will have his suitors salivating and queuing up in the January window…. £25/30m will be an insult at that stage with Brendan already having made it clear that he understands the market.
No more £12m sales to Southampton who 18 months down the road are fielding £60m plus bids for Van Dyk, no more playing the role of middleman, if Moussa or Kieran showcase their ability in the CL then interested parties will have to pay top dollar.

    • All the players were given 4 days off this week so it would have been a surprise if he had turned up for training.
I’ve said on here before that my young cousin is in the sevco first team squad so I get first hand info of all goings on so on this occasion Phil is trying to make a story where one doesn’t doesn’t exist.

  3. It appears to me that Heated Driveway Productions are well and truly in full flow at CFC. Only tight arse PL could create such a shambles from such a great position.

  4. So Tavernier and the usual suspects have their swagger back following a less than scintillating performance in Dingwall, championship challenge on its way courtesy of 2 dropped points from Celtic at the weekend.
Don’t they realise that Celtic had their eye on only one thing over July and August and that was CL Group Stage qualification……job done despite a little stagger at the final hurdle despite which we notched up an 8-4 aggregate win, the biggest in the final round of qualifiers.
This was achieved without our 3 main central defenders throughout the qualifying games, not to mention the absence of last season’s top goalscorer and Paddy Roberts chief assist maker.
Grasping at straws indeed as a full strength squad, injuries aside, should be on show come the visit to Ibrox on the 23rd September.
Has the Rangers squad improved since the 5-1 humping at tge tail end of last season……probably.
Have they improved enough to see off a full strength Celtic……doubtful.
Off the field further soft loans will be required, where they will come from no one knows as the possibilities of a share issue is off the menu with King facing the cold shoulder and those who have stepped up to the plate so far have no idea when or if they will be reimbursed.
The annual accounts are due soon which will throw some light on the financial position and the total ‘internal’ debt level.
Be interesting to see if there is any corellation with the back of the fag packet unaudited numbers that accompanied this season’s UEFA licence application?

  5. like the new layout…

I am a bit confused about the 4.5 M. Is it to pay off a loan..?? If it was running costs surely this would equate to x per month over the 12 months – surely easier to raise and run monthly than big sums?

  6. This new layout is not as aesthetically pleasing as the normal site, nevertheless, it’s getting the updates that really matters.

Enjoy a wee porter or two when your weekend comes around.

    • Shouldn’t be. This is a WordPress site. I have *hundreds* of (YouTube) videos embedded on various pages of my personal WordPress site*, no problems. Most likely a plugin.

  7. No doubt the Sevconians will be well aware that 16 September (Saturday) is Mexican Independence Day and will have budgeted for the absence of Messrs Herrera and Peña that weekend. ¡Ándale!

  8. With Carlos it’s a Latin thing. With Dave it’s not a Latin thing.

The wonderful thing about UK and Scots law is the hopeless defence of claiming to not know an action is illegal. Telling a judge that you had no idea or thought it was ok isn’t a defence. Ignorance of the law isn’t a defence nor mitigation.

Rangers EBTs were unlawful/ illegal. It was tax avoidance/ evasion. A defence of well we didn’t think so at the time falls on deaf ears as it was indeed unlawful at the time. Ignorance of the law at the time is no mitigation.

This is a bedrock principle of UK Justice.

Has CFC made a formal request of the SPFL to revisit the LNS findings?

  11. As old Montgomery would say,”Excellent Phil, just Excellent”.
The word on the street Phil, was that the Senior Blue Room chappie told the great leader that he could clearly see all of his genitalia.
Too far above my catholic educated heid. Well no really. Just thought I’d pass on the rumour, he, he.
