Yes, it was a bad day at the office for Pedro.
He came up against a far superior guy in the away dug out.
However, I truly hope that Pedro never has to experience life in Scotland in the way that the man from Lurgan has been forced to endure.
Despite everything that has happened to Neil Lennon since he first came north as a player in 2000 he is still blamed for what is inflicted upon him.
When he was assaulted and rendered unconscious by two men in 2009 (who were subsequently sent to prison for their crimes) a sports journalist characterised Lennon as a “street fighting man”.
For the avoidance of doubt, the two men were season ticket holders at Ibrox.
On Saturday The People were outraged.
It was just all too much for them the poor dears.
A combination of a Hibernian team containing Anthony Stokes led by Neil Francis Lennon winning at Ibrox was too much for the home crowd.
Moreover, a refereeing decision did not go their way.
It has been self-evident since the final whistle on Saturday that The People are revolting.
Therefore, it did not surprise me yesterday when it struck statement o clock.
The Club 1872 chaps, peace be upon them, will perhaps require some schooling in the laws of defamation.
Calling someone the “L” word is sometimes a risky business.
The re-match presser on Friday Neil Lennon used another “L” word:
Liquidation.
After the match the likeable Portuguese chap kept to the high-Level script that he had been given:
“We are here
We are united
We are The People!”
That’s nice.
It only took one bad result for The People to remind Planet Fitba that the old sense of entitlement had arrived with the basket of assets.
Of course, anti-Irish racism was also thrown in as a sort of negative goodwill.
At this stage, it must be self-evident that there is a hard core of the Ibrox clientele that cannot envisage Neil Francis Lennon as being worthy of human rights.
In the world view of The People, the man from Lurgan is somehow complicit in the street assaults and bullets in the post that have been part of his life in Fair Caledonia.
If this was happening to a person of colour or a Jew instead of a Catholic, then the narrative in modern Scotland would be different.
However, in the dignified firmament, Irish Catholics appear children of a lesser god.
Moreover, Neil Francis Lennon, not only sits at the front of the bus he lets the good ol boys know that he isn’t for shifting.
I was at the Hearts match at Celtic Park a couple of weeks ago and the visiting chaps from the capital were singing:
“There’s only one John Wilson”.
I’m sure Ms Ann Budge would like that to be true.
Like their cousins at Ibrox, many of them had left Celtic Park on the hour mark taking their Union flag with them.
The vast majority of decent Hearts fans want no truck with John Wilson or his dwindling fan club.
Sadly, the same arithmetic is not extant at Ibrox.
Anti-Irish racism is woven into the fabric of the match day experience for the majority of the Ibrox clientele.
In Lennon, they have a carefully constructed caricature on which to unload their hate.
However, the real man that I know will simply not be a piñata for their own personal failings and cultural insecurities.
This should be THE story as far as Neil Lennon is concerned.
Instead, the local media excise the ethnic from any reportage on the victimisation of the man from Lurgan.
Now, dear reader, if you cup your ears you will hear the sound of feet guiltily shuffling under sports desks in Glasgow

If you know the names of those who chose John Wilson as worth remembering I hope these will be passed to our Anne where she can then deal with them. These are not people wanted at Tynecastle.
We are NOT ‘cousins’ of any one team but of all Scots teams.
My use of the term “cousins” was premeditated.
I do hope that decent Hearts fans and the club expel the John Wilson fraternity.
I’m sure the vast majority of Jambos want nothing to do with Sevco or their dignified customers.
There will no doubt be a huge display of support for Lenny tomorrow night, hopefully bringing the sectarian and racist agenda at Ibrox to a wider audience as the SFA, SPFL and Police Scotland look the other way.
Brilliant. I suppose one thing we take from this is statement o’clock s closely followed by petition o’clock.
it was well flagged prematch on Sevco forums that “the people’ were going to actively engage in racism, sectarianism and if the opportunity arose to physically attack Hibs fans.
These events duly happened.
Surely under law, employment equality laws,European law the SFA, Scottish police have a duty of care, responsibility to provide folks like Neil Lennon with the full protection of the law in a workplace even if their work involves taking them to the stadium that John Brown played for.
“The Law Is The Law…………………………”
Just because you can’t or are unwilling to uphold the “Law of the Land” fellow “Bampots” doesn’t make it right.
A Manager turned up for his work on Saturday at Ibrox stadium and was both “racially and physically abused for 90 minutes.” All illegal. The Police, SFA and Owner/Operators of Ibrox stadium all have a “Duty of Care” to make sure this man is able to carry out his duties. That’s the Law of the Land (Employments Law.)
I have never read nor heard so much pash on the weekend’s events in the Scottish Media (MSSM, Websites, Radio, TV etc.) and Super Scoreboard Loyal tonight from Pundits and callers. It would seem that “getting stick” is normal according to BFDJ; it would seem from callers that “abuse is normal;” it would seem that Neil Lennon’s abuse is a “nostalgic look back on his relationship with Ibrox” according to Keevens. Again he gets abuse (racial discrimination) because he is an ex “Celtic Player and Manager.”
Point to note. Neil Lennon gets racially and physically abused in the Scotland because he is an “Irish Catholic.” End of.
I really do hope that our corrupt “Governing Bodies, Police Scotland and Club 1872 bigots” take action against Neil Lennon using the Law of the Land. There will only be one winner, and I hope Neil Lennon cleans them all out. As for the Scottish Media (MSSM, Websites, Radio, TV etc.) who Keevens continually upholds “sold the jerseys 5 years ago and you know it.” Scotland’s Shame.

Keevins on Clyde tonight touched on a couple of things that drive the Rangers fans wild when it comes to Neil Lennon.
1. Ex Celtic player
2. Ex Celtic manager
and that was it, completely steering away from the two other things that give them the hump…….the fact that he’s Irish and Catholic.
Shame on you Keevins. Is your Radio Clyde cosy little number worth more to you than telling the truth?
TBF Lennon does himself no favours but for the fans to get upset after the abuse they hurl is a bit thick. Shame the Police are not so fast at investigating the bile they sing at every game as they are at investigating ( how hard is it when it’s on video on the BBC ) Lennon.
Lennon knows they hate him and should have a bit more quality that to lower himself to their level.
‘Lennon does himself no favours’. Are you having a laugh? That comment belongs with the ‘he brings it on himself’ morons trying to excuse their racist views in a modern society. Shame on you!
Phil check out the ibroz sponsor wall….. no sponsors 32red, sports direct , roc logo !!! Club1872??????? That’s all
No puma, no one will pay to be on tv with this club and be associated with it! Cold shoulder biting deep?
Did you also notice the use of the badge at the beginning of the name that shouts out……orange ……orangers ? deliberate? I would bet it is! Playing to the galleries now.
Agree with everything you say, Phil. As a lifelong Hibernian supporter I have been subjected personally to the vile and poisonous rhetoric inside and outside Ibrox on matchdays as well as, along with my young children, anti-Irish abuse walking to and from games at Easter Road.
We should not, of course, be surprised by the media coverage – I do believe Michael Stewart referred to it as “banter” on Sportscene – of the poor Sevco hordes (illegal songbook on full display) being affronted by such outrageous and intimidating ear-cupping.
I would just like to add that the Hibs support have been subjected to this behaviour at Ibrox for as long as I can remember. The presence of Messrs Stokes and Lennon served to crank up the hatred on the day and Mr Lennon in particular should of course be defended in light of the particularly personal nature of the bile reserved for him.
What a load of tosh. Neil Lennon attracts so much attention because of his ungracious, confrontational manner, nothing to do with anti-Irish racism, which is in itself a contradiction in terms as there is no such thing as an Irish race.
“nothing to do with anti-Irish racism, which is in itself a contradiction in terms as there is no such thing as an Irish race”
Oh dear…
Hi Liam, could you elaborate on this for me please? I’m fascinated at what constitutes anti-Irish racism and what does not.
I am more interested in his “there is no Irish race” comment. Please elaborate Liam. I can’t wait to hear the inspired intelligence and logic in your reasoning.
Are you for real ? Or just trying to be controversial ? Walk a mile in Neil Lennons’ shoes and see how you feel then Liam Also, no Irish race ? I suggest you go back to school
Go back to school = Go to school……..there I sorted that for you ?
Deluded or what!
Red Willie, what absolute pish you write. I’m a proud member of the Irish race. So the abuse Neil Lennon suffers is all his fault? The mind boggles.
Anti-Irish racism is widespread in Scotland and exacerbated by a media that will not say its name. Sportscene presenters managed to condemn Lennon without batting an eye. One might think it was bding produced by Sevco groupies. Surely not?
Excellent article Phil. Sums up the unlucky bag of halfwits, Neanderthals, monobrowed ,knuckle dragging, vile excuses for human beings. I could go on but……
Neil Lennon has always been a star for me, as a footballer,a manager and a person for everything that’s been thrown at him. I feel exactly the same about Rosa Park who also faced off, Racism, bigotry and sectarianism, but on a much bigger stage.
It is very sad that the media in Scotland are too shit scared to challenge the ingrates. They would rather placate and collude with the hordes, which they must know is morally indefensible. I would question whether any of these churnalists have any integrity or courage. A wee trip up the Yellow Brick Road is called for.
As for Pedro. His utterances following the game were actually quite pathetic, reflecting someone who is out of his depth. Any sympathy he had has quickly disappeared.
After being subjected to every vile utterance they could make towards him regarding his religion, appearance and parentage they accuse him of improper gestures toward them, you could not make this bollocks up.
Anti Irish Racism is the key phrase Phil.
Neil Lennons a w-nk-r a ginger haired f-n- en b-s-t-rd they cried and low and behold he made an inflammatory gesture to our exemplary support you just could not make this Bollocks up.
Who’s John Wilson?
The Hearts fan who had a swing at Neil at Tynecastle.
He’s the Hearts fan who assaulted Lennon at Tynecastle
The statement from club 1872 is utterly pathetic . An excellent reminder why I enjoyed their dead clubs dimise and their new clubs daily struggle to compete on a level playing field. Very enjoyable.
Funny how these petitions only emerge when Sevco get beat
So they have a problem with cupped ears when an Irishman who has been subject to abuse, not good humoured banter, good old anti Irish abuse, does it in their midden. the media run with excuses that he brings it on himself and he enjoys it.
Ok so if this is the case does Scott Sinclair enjoy the racism shown to him for the simple reason he is a black Celtic player and scores goals, does he bring it on himself. Does Scott Brown and Griffiths deserve to be attacked and/0r batteries thrown at them and does Stuart Armstrong deseve a golf ball thrown at him because they love this attention shown to them. Can the media explain these icidents, is this the banter returning now the tribute act has rolled into town.
The media are shitbags and they will be looking for employment when the continuation myth, SFA,SPFL and LNS farce is broken and, the liquidation they spoke of and the end of history stories are brought back into the mainstream and the names are associated to the stories and confirmed as they were in the beginning right all along. The media had the evidence of the cheating handed in a plate, they had the chance to rid the game of the chancers coining the money in from ruining the sport and did nothing sat on it complicate in the scam and putting forward pitiful excuses about hands tied in legalities, bullshit, print the story run with it and stop pandering to the wage, journalism is not a game or a bargaining chip, the truth hurts pront the truth or forever be a humiliation to the badge.
Photographs been taken of the press is up there with who are these people anyway give me the names. Can see a lot of fake press cards been handed back.Face up to these assholes, ask your questions or give up the pretence of getting out your bed and pretending to be a journalist, tell people why the BBC are banned and tell the club that banned you to piss off then and don’t give coverage or forever be bullied and follow like sheep and liars to the rest of your public.
Quote of the week leading into the game and must have been simmering on the Sevco mind, was when Lennon answered a loaded question with an honest answer, that his last time he recalled been at ibrox was during the time
When they were liquidated 2012.
Lennon telling the press basically nothing to fear from a moronic element that some over there secretly would like to see the back off. And letting the media know i am not going to play into your silly pretend they are still Rangers and the alive game. LIQUIDATION, does what it says on the tin, wipes out continuation myths in one foul swoop.
Peter
Excellent post. Meant to say that at the start of my own. I agree with everything you stated. “Chapeau Sir!”
Great piece. Neil Lennon really should stop doing this inflammatory ‘being Neil Lennon and being successful in football’ thing. Especially at Ibrox. It’s a disgrace! On a more serious note, the burning loathing of Neil Lennon in some quarters, and the refusal of the media to call it out for what it is is a national embarrassment.
Meanwhile (if I may…) I have managed to get hold of a copy of ANOTHER statement about Neil Lennon from a Sevco fans’ group… https://theclumpany.wordpress.com/2017/08/13/neil-lennon-ruined-our-day/
…and some further evidence that Pedro really is one of the People… https://theclumpany.wordpress.com/2017/08/13/pedro-is-one-of-the-people/
Another excellent article that should shame Scotland’s so-called journalists. #weareallneillennon
To be fair the club 1872 statement, around Lennons’s exuberance, has been slated by a fair amount of dodo supporters on twitter etc. Some to be fair do see the bigger picture.
BBC Radio Scotland covers the Saturday afternoon football.
I play it through two flat screen Telly’s in two rooms. I can record it to digital recorder drives.
Their main coverage was the Killie game (tremendous crowd noise) with goal updates from Ibroken and elsewhere. I could hear every song and chant for the whole game.
Are they banned from Ibroken? Or do they not cover games there for fear of recording the sectarian songs?
I recall when they started reporting Ibroken matches from inside the broadcast truck in the car park, with zero crowd noise (zero atmosphere) to protect Gullibillies and their club from punishments.
BBC do not go to Ibrokes due to Sevco ban on Chris McLaughlin.
I am Lennon
Brilliant article Phil
Great article as per, Phil. Is anyone suprised that the backward element within the Sevco support have resorted to type? I’m not. They had the chance to cleanse themselves when the old club went down the pan but in my opinion it’s got worse. Regarding anti Irish rhetoric and the vile songs that many of them sing this will never, ever stop. All you have to do is go on any Twitter feed of most of these morons and you’ll see the poisonous vile flowing.
Ian Archers quote about them still rings true.
‘The worst refereeing performance ever seen at Ibrox’, presumably because he didn’t give Sevco 2 penalties and send half the Hibs side off.
Pathetic creatures beyond all shame or self awareness.
We all know ’33’ grand a week is code but what’s it code for, that Murray’s still funnelling money in ..?
33rd degree Scottish rite Freemasonry.
1. It ain’t Scottish
2. It ain’t antient (ancient).
And your point is, caller ..?
Great piece Phil…
My admiration for Neil is huge…
We (if we care about anything remotely valuable in life) are all Neil Lennon
Brilliant article. But even white people like you and me are people of colour!
We are all Neil Lennon.
