Barrie McKay and life beyond Sevco

Loyal viewers of the Sevco sitcom will have enjoyed previous episodes where Barrie McKay had a starring role.

My own favourite was when the show decanted to sunny German last January and the script writers came up with the storyline that  RB Leipzig was willing to shell out £6 million for the Sevco starlet.

Brilliant comedy writing, hat tip.

Despite the fact that the Bundesliga outfit stated that they had no interest in the winger the stenographers were hooked.

Oh dear.

Drink Red Bull sensibly…

After he had, ahem, “resigned” the Sevco High Command were hoping that the Admirable Warburton would come in and purchase several of his old players from Ibrox.

Moreover, it was their belief that he would pay good money for his former charges and take them to Nottingham Forrest.

In doing so this would help address the growing deficit at Sevco.

So far that hasn’t happened.

However, news reaches me that the ex-City trader has put in a low ball offer for young Barrie.

Remember he was “worth £6m”?

Sadly his market value appears to have tumbled since Senhor Caixinha decided to exile him from the first team squad.

That is the only explanation for the Admirable Warburton starting at £350k for the exciting talent!

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with a low-ball opening offer and Sevco are not without sin in this regard themselves.

My information is that £750k would likely clinch the deal, although £500k might prove too tempting to the cash-strapped Holding Company vehicle.

At the moment such sums mean a great deal to the Sevco High Command, despite what you might read in the Off The Radar press…

Of course, it is always tough for a player when he realises that he isn’t in the plans of a new manager.

However, there is a serious judgement call to make when you’re being told by a senior colleague to sit tight, as he reckons that the incumbent in the dugout won’t be there at Christmas.

“thankfully the Luxembourg supporters are not known for causing trouble so it should be a party atmosphere…..”

  3. But sevco are in rude financial health, so rude in fact that if you study the photo of one of their New Mexican signings you can see where the letters JG have been peeled off his training kit.

  4. I’m on my knees praying they fall on their face tonight but I don’t think they will. As bad as they are, they’re surely able to dispose of a second rate team from Luxembourg. Does Dorrans, or the others, not pay attention to what is being written, outside of the SMS papers. This is not the team Dorrans supported as a boy because this team were only born in 2012. I think the fun is about to begin for the supporters of all the other teams. Any money invested will be wasted because Pedro cashewnuts will be gone by Christmas with sevco struggling to be in the top four. And how we’ll laugh because if a team deserves all that’s coming to them, it’s this shower of fly by nights.

  5. The Dug Ate Ma Homework, love your moniker Dug. I’m sorry but I couldn’t let it pass without commenting. Several years ago when I was teaching in Dundee, a P7 boy , when asked for his homework, replied that his dug had destroyed it. “Ah, the dug ate ma homework sir,” I guffawed loudly with the class all laughing. ” Naw,” the boy said seriously,” it pished all over my homework and my PE kit in my bag.” He quietly left the class and returned with said bag which could be smelled from the door. ” Michael your dug did indeed pish on your homework. No problem young man.” The class erupted in laughter. The story travelled throughput the whole school by lunchtime. Michael had achieved legendary status. Lol

  6. Surely the $6m dollar man would be entitled to ask Sevco to pay his contract in full to leave?.
On a reported £5k pw that would still leave the holding Company with circa £250k & saved the same in wages for a year on a £500k cash up front bid.If Red Bull or the like aren’t interested, then young Mr McKay & his agent control this deal. Not Sevco & level 5.

  7. I’d say the judgement call about whether Sevco itself will still be around at Christmas might be the bigger of the two concerns for any employee of that dignified institution ……
