Las Vegas has often been the venue for people making rash decisions which they later come to regret.
Once it was a stopover in the Nevada for US soldiers crossing the vast l country.
The lax gaming laws in that state made it a mecca for American gamblers.
The folks that run casinos like their customers to get all emotional, because that’s when people make mistakes.
As I had previously stated here I expected Mr David Cunningham King to make a pitch for, as he would term it, “soft investment” into Sevco.
Alistair Johnston did the introductions and the South African based entrepreneur worked the room.
In fairness to the man with 41 criminal convictions, he didn’t come away empty-handed.
My information is that the cash raised is a seven-figure sum (in US Dollars), but it wouldn’t run Sevco for a month.
However, it’s a start. Mr King will be hoping that those who contributed will be snared by the ‘sunk costs fallacy’.
This is a folly that often afflicts people at the roulette wheel.
I’m told that there was one individual in the room that Mr King was particularly interested in.
This person was definitely a high net worth individual.
Indeed, he had access to game-changing amounts of cash.
However, he told Mr King that he wouldn’t be investing blindly and would need to have his people sit down to crunch the numbers.
At that awkward moment, the RIFC Chairman went into deflection mode.
Consequently, the richest person in the room didn’t invest either personally or in a corporate sense.
Those who did, I am told, did so on a personal basis.
My information is that Mr King made liberal use of the word “iconic” during his pitch.
However, one of the assembled throng stated that the club had to be in the newspapers for the correct reasons.
They also asked about the Ashley court case and the impending litigation from the Ibrox Three.
I’m told that Mr King handled these questions with ease and that the potential investors in the room seemed satisfied with his answers.
I think it fair to conclude that Alastair Johnston is now on the board of the Holding Company vehicle in part to report back to the individuals who did invest.
My information is that there are five of them.
I hope he does make it over to Glasgow soon as I believe he has a murder to report.
He did seem very emotional when he spoke about that death on TV.
I hope he doesn’t come to regret saying that.

I’m presuming the Mexican, Spanish, Portuguese players are an attempt to attract investment from the Catholic Hispanic world. Including Hispanic USA. People who would be appalled at their culture if only they knew.
Sevco exploiting Gullible unknowing investors.
I emailed the sfa to ask them how AJ is allowed back as a director of rangers. I also pointed out that Rangers now have 3 directors who liquidated the last Rangers.
I got a 1 line response “We have forwarded your email onto the SPFL”.
Wonder what they will have to say for themselves
An astonishing statement by AJ.
Then again, Donald Findlay stated that TRIFC is not the old Rangers. DK, also stated that TRIFC was not the “traditional Rangers” when he talked about taking RFC out of liquidation and of course there’s the cardigan wishing “the new club” all the best in the future. Oh, and I almost forgot, Charles Green commissioned a painting called “the new pioneers” which wasn’t displayed for long.
Who’ll be next?
I wonder if the Glib declared his criminal convictions on his ESTA for travel to the states. Im guessing he didnt
By “investment” are we talking about loans or donations, Phil.
They probably think they are loans but don’t know that they will turn into donations
Their arrogance has no boundaries.Winning on the field is all they care about which I can empathise with.Easy for me as my club is well run, adheres to FFP and are totally dominant in Scottish football. With all the catholics plying their trade at Ibrox maybe a small chapel shoul be built by way of welcoming Pedros brothers.Spot the Pedro proddy might become popular amid the loyal subjects. Why not call the new team Saint Rangers.STRANGERS.As they are not Rangers anymore.
Holy smoke, Danny!!!
You’ve really gone and done it now!
I’m getting that on a T shirt next season, ‘We welcome the StRangers to Paradise!’, so they finally know where they are! 😀
You have to laugh at Stewart regan Craig whyte is not a fit and proper person!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So what does that make dave king???????
What does it make Stewart Regan?
In Columbo we actually see the murder happening…We also see the murderer meticulously clean “things” (used in the murder) to their satisfaction and then they depart the scene … Only to be lured back by provocative questions from an assumed wee “Jakie”
Mr Alistair Johnston you are now back at the crime scene … be careful of your movements and unassuming small questions coming your way ..
I’m standing in the middle of the desert
Waiting for my ship to come in
But now no joker, no jack, no king
Can take this loser hand
And make it win
I’m leaving Las Vegas
And I won’t be back
No I won’t be back
Not this time
Leaving Las Vega, Sheryl Crow
Saw the AJ interview and thought it strange that someone would be so emotionally attached to a holding company .
I remember seeing another interview with AJ a few years back in which he came out with the infamous “surrender no”guff ,it had no bearing to the conversation or context of the interview and I though right away ,that’s not the last we will see of him .
fast forward 5 years and HEY PRESTO up he pops .
That leads me to believe the whole thing was planned from start to finish .
A couple of slip ups here and there but it seems they are still trying to pull off the scam
Indeed. I was most surprised to hear the surrenderless Mr AJ speak about the murder of the old club – since where there is a murder, there is ex vi termini a death.
And even more surprised to see the lack of outrage on Follow Follow in the wake of this.
Surely the vitriol expressed in the direction of Mr Naismith must now be expectorated towards the latest board member?
Phil; great reporting from your sources (as usual), however I’m confused. Are these 5 individuals Scots born or have ties to Scotland and just what exactly did they invest in? After all, as someone once told me it is a loss making enterprise with no access to lending facilities 🙂
Seriously, though, what is it they are getting in return for the investment? I’m sure they didn’t just fork over the money in order to drop by Glasgow once in a while and partake of the world-class breakfast. What was promised to them, and when?
I didn’t mention nationality-you added that bit yourself.
Phil it was a posed question if nationality not a statement?
Agreed, it was an add by me but nothing nefarious intended. I was only asking if there was the possibility that AJ had tried to tap up ex-pats in US as that might explain a willingness to burn money, sorry invest in club.
God knows, no sane business person would go near that lot. Hence I was merely wondering what they had gotten promised in return.
I did but it was a question. Their getting involved in that basket case of a business suggested there was more to it. I then wondered if they were maybe ex-pats in US.
I agree Phil..you haven’t read what Malcolm said properly. He was asking a question ?
I think Mr King has sold them on the club’s “ahem!” history, conveniently forgetting to mention that they are the footballing equivalent of Monty Python’s dead parrot sketch.
Perhaps the Glib and shameless one will have his Galacticos kitted out in Norwegian Blue at the start of the new season, sponsored, of course by that famous Swiss clinic – DIGNITAS.
Perhaps he’s sold them his shares at a dollar a pop
Since it has appeared for 5+ years Dave King has been deliberately tanking one or another Rangers celestial entity, one can only conclude he has a MASSIVE short position on them. (In other words, the more they lose, the more he profits.)
