I am hearing that elements within the Sevco High Command were desperate to find a solution to their Chairman problem.
An impeccably placed source has suggested that they even reached out to General Ashley.
Their wish was for Big Mike to exercise his rights as an RIFC shareholder and call for an EGM.
At that dignified conclave, the shareholders would have been asked to give a vote of no confidence in their chairman.
This would have left the Sevco High Command with cleans hands as Mr King got the Julius Caesar treatment.
I am told that the Sports Direct Proconsul did consider it.
However, he was advised against it, and he has decided to observe the corporate carnage at Sevco from afar.

Curious and curiouser….! Are we to believe that the Park group couldn’t find some shareholders to request an extraordinary AGM, they needed Ashley to do it? Surely they could have done it themselves or were they too scared to take on King?
I realize the only person with money here (other than Ashley) is Park but he can’t buy out King because he then would fall afoul of the 30% rule. Then again, even if someone could be found (someone stupid enough) then they need to pay King somewhere between 3-3.5M to buy out his stock.
