PFA to seek cash award for ex-Rangers players from Sevco

The players’ union has largely remained out of the Rangers circus in the past few months.

This is understandable.

As an active trade unionist, I know that full time officials usually do their most effective work in the back channels.

However, sometimes there is a need to be more formal and that often means going to law.

I understand that PFA Scotland will soon lodge a “protective award claim” against Sevco Scotland Limited.

They hope to secure 13 weeks wages for their members because the new company did not carry out a proper consultation as required under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006.

I am sure that will pose no problems for Sevco Scotland Limited, which is in rude financial health at the moment.
