My questions for Craig Whyte.

Yesterday at an unknown location, in an unknown universe I was invited to attend a press conference with the largely unknown owner of Rangers Craig Whyte.

Ok ok, I made that bit up.

However here are the questions that I WOULD have put to him.  As a little media exercise dear reader see if any of those questions were put to him by the handpicked hacks at Ibrox yesterday.

1. You say that you have purchased Rangers’ debt in full.  Can you unequivocally state that the floating charge on Rangers assets that secured the £ 18m debt has been assigned to you (or RFCGLtd) without any encumbrances?

2. A search of the public records for your business history reveals no transactions or business sales that would have yielded you a sum close to £18m.   How did you finance the purchase of Rangers’ debt from Lloyds?

3. During and shortly after the takeover period, it has been widely reported that you and your media representatives, were briefing anyone who would listen that:

– You are a billionaire or a man with off-the-radar wealth

– That you would be investing £ 20m over 4 years

– That  £15m would be front-loaded

Do you deny that such claims were made?

4. You claim that the recent legal cases over payments were just part of good financial management to ensure that you do not pay for bills unnecessarily.  This strategy resulted in you paying an extra £10,000 in court costs (before your own legal fees) on a £35, 000 bill.  On what planet is incurring an extra 29% on a bill a measure of good and conservative financial management?

5. Lastly…  how much of a funding gap has been revealed during your cash flow projections until the tax case process is over? In other words, can Rangers fund itself from operations or does the club require a cash injection?  If there is a funding gap, how much is it and how do you propose to “fill the hole”?  Will this funding gap be met by you contributing additional funds or will player sales in January be necessary?

Yesterday, in an unknown universe, all of these questions were answered in full.
