Action needed to protect journalists writing about Scottish football.

Does Alex Salmond value a free press?Soon he will not be able to claim the defence of  ignorance about what some journalists writing about Scottish football  have to endure from a fascist underclass attached to Rangers football club.

Although,bizarrely, the mainstream media in Scotland have been silent about this issue impacting upon them Professor Roy Greenslade in the Guardian is not.

This is another small step in shining an outside light on Scotland’s shame.

A free press is key to any functioning democracy.

For the Fourth estate to do its job journalists must be free from threats, intimidation and smear campaigns as they go about their lawful business.

It is now time for Scotland’s First Minister to deliver on his fine words.
