The Tax Man cometh.

As the tax case involving Rangers gets underway again this week it is heartening to see the mainstream media (MSM) finally getting up to speed on this important story.

When I initially filed copy on this story to a tabloid Sunday paper in Scotland the core information was disbelieved by the blue half of Glasgow. The green half wanted to believe, but it just sounded TOO good to be true.

The figures in the case, first broken in the News of the World (NOTW) on 17th May 2010, are no longer in dispute.  It is also interesting to note that the certainty of Rangers going into Administration should they lose the tax case is now accepted wisdom.

As I have stated here on more than one occasion should Ranger lose this tax case then Administration is as near to a certainty as anything can be.

After the initial “splash” in the NOTW I decided to put my readers here in the picture with a feature length piece.

Everything I said in June 7th on this site has come to pass.

Moreover the MSM now largely accept the core facts of the case in as much as they are in the public domain.

The churnalists within the Scottish soccer lobby have been at a loss on this story.

Their MO is to receive morsels from the table and to regurgitate them on the page.

I readily concede that I have  just conjured up a worrying image, my apologies.

What a denizen of the any lobby cannot do is to go looking for a story about the owner of the Lobby.

Do that and you are evicted from the lobby.

A senior Scottish sports journalist said to me in February that “people are groping in the dark about this Rangers tax story.”

I calmly replied “I’m not groping in the dark. I know the facts.”

As I am not in the lobby I have had the freedom to excavate where and when I want to reveal more on this story.

Once the judgement is delivered the full extent of RFC’s tax strategies will be revealed on here.

Until then no one should be in any doubt about the importance of the next few weeks of evidence and legal challenging that will go one as Rangers Football club go into battle against Her Majesty’s Customs and Revenue.

The very future of Rangers could be at stake for once in Administration the possibility of Liquidation is not beyond the realms of possibility.

In the meantime the takeover of the club is imminent with only a few minor details to iron out….
