Rangers board desperate to settle tax case!

EXCLUSIVE

Rangers’ legal battle with HMRC took a serious turn for the worse in recent weeks.  The case, which concerns the club’s use of an Employee Benefits Trust (EBT) to pay players without paying PAYE or National Insurance contributions, puts Rangers FC’s future on the line.  In a startling gambit, Rangers’ lawyer, Andrew Thornhill QC, has had his second approach to settle the case out of court rebuffed.  In this most recent offer, it is understood that the Ibrox club offered an amount just under £10m.

Sacked SFA workers successful in their appeal!

The  three SFA workers caught up in the Dallas email affair  who were appealing their dismissal learned today that they had been successful. They were informed in writing today. The same process that Hugh Dallas had went through a week earlier. Mr.Dallas, as readers of this site will know, was unsuccessful in his appeal. This revelation does, of course, pave the way for Mr.Dallas to take his sacking to an employment appeal tribunal. This is a course of action, which my sources inform me, that he is actively considering. A successful appeal for Mr.Dallas would,almost certainly make SFA Chief Executive …

I settled into a comfy seat in the backroom of a pub under the misty slopes of Croagh Phadraig.

The men folk on my father’s side, including my father himself, have congregated in this back room for over 125 years, as far I can guess, to discus politics, the GAA and life in general.
