A dignified haunting and the next manager of Celtic

Those whom the Fitba gods wish to destroy they first send to Sevco.

There does seem now to be a growing body of evidence to support that contention.

Last night I received this message from a contact at Pacific Quay.

“An organised campaign from Rangers through their fans to complain to the BBC about our coverage.

“It’s fucking hilarious.

“You want to see some of the shite they are coming out with!”

The idea that there is institutional bias at BBC Scotland against the Ibrox brand really is locked ward material.

Sadly, disassociation from reality seems to be an occupational hazard at the stadium Mr John Brown played for.

Fear can do strange things to otherwise stable people.

There is a spectre haunting Sevco.

The spectre of 10IAR.

This apparition has the power to drive Quintessentially British men bonkers.

Now Mr Let’s Go wants to erect a fence around the Hummel Centre of averageness.

Apparently, the resident MBE does not want outsiders to know of his tactical brilliance beforehand.

Oh dear…

A cynic might conclude that the utility function of the proposed structure would be to prevent onlookers from observing that Mr Let’s Go isn’t the chap who is coming up with the game plans.

I’m told that the number three in the hierarchy, a chap from Liverpool, is actually the brains of the operation and the resident MBE looks on like a work experience kid.

Whatever, the truth of that, it is another season without silverware for Sevco.

Ho-hum.

The only thing that the weekend results achieved was to put off the date when Celtic are crowned champions.

Again.

Of course, the draw against Livingston has not enhanced Neil Lennon’s chances.

That isn’t fair, but few things are in professional sport.

I have to admit that I’m torn on the subject.

My heart wants the man from Armagh in the home dugout at Celtic Park.

Moreover, he stepped in when the season could have unravelled for the champions after Rodgers left in the dead of night.

He has won crunch matches with a team he inherited and Celtic are poised for a Treble Treble.

All of that points to Neil Lennon as the next permanent manager in the home dressing room at Parkhead.

However, that would almost certainly mean the re-installation of the untitled director of football and more Heated Driveway Productions.

I’ve seen that movie before and I certainly don’t want a remake on Kerrydale Street.

Now, if Mr Desmond sanctions the signing of a serious name then that is less likely to happen.

So, this is high stakes poker for Celtic.

It is the 10IAR appointment and the people in charge at Parkhead have to get it right.

If they do then Mr Gerrard could be hiding behind that fence next season.

Talking to himself…

  1. I’m not a fan of “going back”. I think Neil Lennon will rightly forever be a hero at Celtic for his achievements as a player, manager and human being (no one should ever have to endure the crap he has experienced), and he deserves our unending gratitude for stepping up to perform a thankless task when Rodgers walked out. But I don’t think he’s the man to take the club forward. Someone with fresh ideas, greater tactical ability (and that’s not to suggest Lennon has no tactical ability!), and who will keep the board on their toes and have no truck with Lawwell’s interference is the way to go. I don’t know who that person is but I do feel that Neil Lennon would be an uninspired choice as next permanent Celtic manager… I would of course be delighted to be proved wrong!

  2. Driving the back road from Possil to Milngavie, along Auchenhowie Road, you would be struck by the relative remoteness of the AuchenHummel Arsehole Academy. The only people you ordinarily see outside the main access gate are the rectum-worshippers that masquerade as sports journalists, and a handful of fans. Anybody suspected of spying on Mr Gerrard’s tactical nous would be likely to be wearing welly boots, though to be fair, it may just be an ordinary bloke enjoying the privacy offered behind this structure away from the main road, in the company of his woolly girlfriend, or one of those secretive masonic types, simulating his goat-bothering techniques with the local wildlife.

In conclusion, this is yet another waste of money by the Glasgow Galacticos.

  3. Slippy’s fence! Wow, that article is roll about laughing material…

But there’s a serious reality behind the story – clearly wee El Huffalo has tried to escape again!

Stevie had better be watching the family jewels – you know how that naughty wee huffalo has the tendency to stamp his wee foot when he’s in high dudgeon…

  4. I seriously doubt Lenny would take the job permanently under the same conditions. After all, he is not the new kid on the block any more – that is now SG. Lenny is now far more experienced and will not stand for the crap that pissed him off enough to make him walk out of the door first time round. There are a lot of Celtic fans who don’t want him. They point to the fact that he never won the treble. I point to the fact he was FAR MORE successful in the CL than BR.

  5. The fence won’t be for the purpose of not letting outsiders in but more likely to be used for not letting insiders out, or walking away when the proverbial hits the fan – again. HH

  6. There is a real problem with 9iar let alone 10. We won the league with one striker. Sometimes he was injured, and he is some way removed from orthodox, superbly gifted and truly unique. A near post striker like him is rare enough, Hans Krankl being the best I ever saw, but one that comes that deep I have never seen. We need a out and out 6 yard box striker, a central goal hanger playing off the last man in a central position and to hell with working back. Regardless of manager. I would take Defoe in a heatbeat. Watching him work the back line in the last two matches shows what we are missing.

  7. Time for another march to Pacific Quay by the loony brigade.
Their previous well touted for months protest against BBC bias was expected to see thousands camped outside the BBC studios.
What a kick in the teeth for the organisers when barely enough turned up to wave their protest banner.

    • Desmond and Obrien have a net worth of around £7 billion. That sort of money gets you a seat at the big boys table. Dave King won’t even get a lick at the plates. I would expect another, All In, Situation in the next few months.

    • By all accounts he was the main reason we got the ‘real’ manager (Brendan Rogers) after the cup semi final penalty kick debacle against the rangers brought the Ronnie Delia experiment to a close.

      • How ironic it was then that the “real” Manager spent the next two and a half seasons playing the exact same system as the much maligned Deila.
        Albeit with far better results.

        • With a lot of the young players Delia brought into the team. KT, Calmac, Craig Gordon, Ajer, Boyata, Simunvic, Armstrong, Christie, Rogic. Dembele was also RD’s move. That deal was done all bar the signatures when BR arrived. The move for Sinclair had also been initiated by RD although to be fair it was probably the BR connection that got it over the line. They
