A tale of two Americans

Well, that escalated quickly!

Almost since the Dunkirk Spirit kicked in and the Ibrox klanbase decided To Do Running Away from the Broomloan end yesterday, the Stenography Corps have been busy on False Equivalence duty.

In fairness, their paycheque demands it.

This sums it up well.

We will know them by their noise.

I noted that as The People were on the pitch that John Brown played for the camera, momentarily locked onto Andrew Cavenagh.

A dime for his thoughts.

When the teams took to the field at the start of the match, the home crowd added “fuck the Pope” to  Tina Turner’s lyrics.

As I have previously reported, Sevco’s new owners want the club “to be perceived differently”.

Moreover, they have communicated this to certain key fan media influencers.

Obviously, this fine fellow didn’t get the memo.

Scroll to 23.00 and await his characterisation of Celtic fans as “bog trotters”.

Always believe people when they reveal themselves.

Then this last week, during the league game against the club formed by Irish immigrants.

I’m told that the appearance of this Hollywood depiction of American nativism has been brought to Mr Cavenagh’s attention.

Unlike many UEFA Match delegates sent to Ibrox in years past, my information is that he immediately got it.

Now, if the Stenography Corps wanted to try their hand at journalism, this could be a productive line of inquiry for them.

There was also a football match before the Herrenvolk performance art.

Two pals who are professionally engaged in the beautiful game said to me post-match that Austin Trusty was by far the best performer on the field.

I wonder if the kid from Pennsylvania got the Good Ole Boys vibe at  Ibrox yesterday?

That’s another question that the Stenography Corps would never ask.

  1. Gordon Smith said if there were no Celtic fans there it wouldn’t have happened.
If the job had been done properly in 2012 there would be no tribute act and it wouldn’t have happened. Peaceful people would have been shopping in Tesco.

  2. The little fat baldy one should have one of those balaclavas on . A totally repulsive little man with that slur on our fan’s.

  3. Very different reporting naratives can be found on the Associated Press and Aljazeera. Both clearly label assaults on Celtic personnel by the sevconaut pitch invaders who were the initiators of violence once again.

  4. Why would someone wear a balaclava to a football match? Those Rangers fans were intent on causing trouble if the result didn’t go their way and they didn’t want to be recognised. This was predetermined violence.

  5. If our moribund board do nothing else useful this season, they can fight the false equivalence garbage which will spew forth and taint the narrative about this. Fernandez’s ‘volleyball’ goal saw a number of the peepul leave the stand and take to the track. Not ideal but it did not attract a violent response from the visiting support. Neither did a few St Mirren fans celebrating their victory last night by leaving the stand attract a violent response from the visiting jags fans. Fans exuberantly celebrating generally doesn’t result in large scale violent confrontation from the opposing fans, except when one particular club is involved.

Serious crowd disorder and violence in Scottish football has a common denominator and it always has.

  6. The Poison Chalice of Ibrox gets more outings than the Loving Cup . The 2 gentlemen concerned will now get to taste the 2 cheeks excuse but they know no amount of sugar coating will rid them of the taste of faeces .My favourite stenographer comment was David Tanner reporting a Celtic fan aggressively blessing himself in the away end.
If they know the history they will know that the anger will be coming their way , they are not “real ranger’s ” men they’re not even real Sevco men they are just fenian bastards like me and you.
Wouldn’t a Neil Lennon v Martin O’Neil cup final be the icing on the cake

  7. The bottles went out the pram yesterday 💨🍼…. along with flares & missiles into the away end after running virtually the length of the pitch to confront the away fans & assault stewards 🤬 & Celtic were fantastic in the penalty shootout. 🍀😎

  8. The “Smurf” as they are known locally, invaded the pitch not to celebrate but to injure and they did so by attacking one of their own security staff members. Remember when The Rangers play at their home ground they are not allowed to be defeated. The press of course tried to blame both sets of fans for the violence, nothing new here, move along

  9. I am amazed that any third party company would want to be associated with that club never mind sponsor them with hard cash. When they were going through their repertoir of hate I kept seeing adverts for BOXT, Nothern Piling Ltd, Carrick Packaging and Match Worn Shirts amongst others and I thought that the Managing Directors of these companies must be cringing….or maybe not !!

Needless to say I always choose my patronage very carefully.

  10. I wonder if the press will report on the Celtic fans viciously taking selfies with the players without Balaclavas on?
