Season finale in Euskadi

Well, that’s that then.

Finally, Nedball (copyright Alan Morrison) was undone by some Basque brilliance at the back post.

Disappointing.

Consequently, it would be remiss of your humble correspondent not to offer end-of-season greetings to the Ibrox klanbase.

As regular readers will know, those emotionally fragile nativists need a regular supply of that elusive substance- hope.

The only place that can be acquired at the moment is some breathless speculation about the putative new owners.

Until the new campaign starts, that is all those poor dears have got to feed their need for supremacism.

The idea of some individual or group bankrolling the operating losses is central to the sugar daddy issues of the Ibrox klanbase.

Moreover, the only thing that can be gleaned from public data is that the takeover deal is not done at the time of writing.

If it were, then it would be all over the local media.

My information on these manoeuvres is 48 hours old, and the last I heard from a well-placed source is that issues remain to be resolved.

Both within the consortium itself and the willingness of some shareholders to sell.

I found the latter part surprising, as shares in RIFC are essentially worthless.

However, I trust the integrity of my source on this.

Of course, anything that the hope dealers in the Stenography Cops can do to lift the mood of Sevco’s customer base will assist with season ticket renewals.

For the avoidance of doubt, there is no need for any such PR pish across the city.

Celtic fans have silverware to gaze at and a winning team to applaud.

A simple fact that the local media assiduously avoid is that if both clubs sell out their season ticket allocation, then Celtic will have more season ticket holders than there are seats in the stadium that John Brown played for.

That is the enduring legacy of Fergus McCann.

The 60,000-seater stadium was his vision despite sniping from some members of the ousted board.

In recent weeks, I have received convincing information from several sources that the wealthiest club in Scotland is exploring options for upgrading and expanding the south stand.

If Celtic makes an official announcement about this, it would undoubtedly factor into the American consortium’s due diligence process.

I’m told that they’ve already discovered things about the Sevco operation that they weren’t expecting regarding revenue streams.

Essentially, their business plan requires regular participation in the Champions League.

That becomes much easier if they are SPFL champions.

Now, I can see their problem right there.

One of the pleasing aspects of last night is that the good people of Manchester will be spared any repeat of the performance art which wrecked the city centre in 2008.

Last night, the good guys won.

We have gallant allies in Europe.

Happy Easter!

  1. Sevco’s accumulated debts since they were founded in 2012 by Charles Green are well over £140m, add in the cost of buying a 51% stake (if that’s even viable) at this point then add in another £140m to get the capacity LEVEL at Ibrokes & you are talking a ball pack figure of £300m & looking at the state of the U.S stock market even Gordon Gekko wouldn’t touch this flea infested mongrel.
As for the expansion of Parkhead, the MOST VALUABLE PIECE OF REAL ESTATE is the 60 yards outside the front main entrance down the Celtic way, as McCann would say “The cheap option is not the best option.” Celtic have a blank canvas outside the front door & can make the stadium footprint as big as possible to challenge in Europe, anything less from the Celtic board would be a massive own goal., Sevco have 4 lanes of traffic outside the front door in Edmiston Dr. Consequently Celtic have a massive open goal domestically with expanding Parkhead to put Celtic in a better position to challenge in Europe.

  2. Maybe, just maybe the problem lies with what that club b stands for and the consortium wishing to rid it of it’s “staunchness” and run it as a business with a growth plan including ironically anyone everyone

  3. THE pishometer of pish couldn’t cope with the tidal wave of urine flushing through its works from the Scottish media. Rangers were well out of their depth in both games. It was as if wee Barry had attended a coaching class with Mr Levine(?) a revolutionary defensive strategy. Well into the second half, the commentator remarked that Rangers had only two shots at goals. This American Fantasy should sign up the CRAB before ALLOA snatch him away.
    Keep up the good work!

    • On behalf of the Wasps fans,. No thanks. We don’t want ‘Nedboy’ Ferguson back at The Recs with his thug tactics and wanting a ‘square go’ with the Alloa fans.

  4. In 1872 4 lads from a rowing club had a dream.
In 2012 that dream became a nightmare as the dream ended up 5h1t creek without a paddle.

    Ironic.

  5. I’m sure that the mainstream media in Scotland will have been instructed to spew out as many soothing stories as possible from now until something concrete turns up re the takeover. Especially since the glorious defeat to Athletic Club rendered the rangers season trophyless. Celtic may not have been firing on all cylinders lately but they are still ahead of the rest of scottish fitba by a country mile. Hopefully contingency plans are in place to continue that trend, ibrox takeover or not.
A happy and peaceful Easter to everyone HH

  6. Is the unwillingness to sell on the part of the shareholders centered around not getting back what they paid in their efforts to keep the lights on? If they were buying them for 20p each I cant imagine they want to sell for .01p now. Though I suppose getting anything is better than getting nothing…

  7. Hopefully the information you have been given regarding the South Stand is accurate. An increase in capacity means I might eventually be able to buy a season ticket.

  8. Murray promised he would only sell the “originals” to someone with the best interests of the club* at heart not some American consortium for example.
The new pioneers were taken over by Charles Green and his onerous contracts after the switcheroony with Craig Whyte
Mike Ashley was next and the sugar daddy they thought they had recruited turned sour as he used them as a feeder club and marketing tool
Up stepped dodgy Dave and the 3 Bears and qualification for the Litigation Cup was a shoe in for successive years.
Team Park the bus moved into the hot seat , a staunch blue nose with a successful business pedigree , what could go wrong? Quite a lot as it turned out.
Next up could be a Vatican adherent heading an American consortium looking for a feeder club for an English club but they’ll convince themselves they have the best interests of the club* at heart .
If 4 Lads had a nightmare then it could be about to reveal itself
