A strange hill for the SFA to die on

It is no secret that Celtic are now seriously lawyered up to defend Brendan Rodgers versus the SFA.

Indeed, the Irishman referred to the legal side of things at a recent presser when asked about the SFA charge against him.

Yesterday, I caught up with a well-placed source that is close to the action.

Although he was circumspect apropos the forensic minutiae of the case for the defence, I’m now entertaining the possibility that we might be close to the Dougie Dougie moment for the dignified operation of VAR.

I’m told that Celtic have communicated to the chaps at Hampden that they will not play this out in the press.

However, they want the officials in question held to account.

Apparently, this will depend on the specific timeline of the decision-making process during the match at Tynecastle.

The unredacted audio files will be key, and I understand that Celtic has asked for this.

My takeaway from this is that the smart move from Hampden would have been for Rodgers to clarify his post-match comments about “incompetence”.

Instead, they charged in with…well… a charge!

This is one of those rare occasions at Celtic where Mr  Desmond is fully engaged.

Rodgers was his choice to replace Ange, and the billionaire is now pursuing anything that could undermine him.

Moreover, anyone who suggests that the current chairman has a role to play in this is way off.

Ignore it.

It’s just noise.

  1. Last night’s refereeing at Ibrox left the majority bemused when the pattern of assistance was interrupted.
It’s bordering on the Tony Mowbray honest mistakes season now.
The effect of poor refereeing in Scotland results in shoddy representation at all tournaments of a European and World stage.
Also, are there any countries who do not have refs involved at a level outwith Scotland?

  2. It would have been better had DD been “Fully engaged”, in January and backed BR to the hilt then. Had he done so, the comment incident might never have occurred. Paying for high priced players, would have kept the fans much happier than paying for high priced lawyers.

I keep reading that the squad is bloated. Other than on the wings I can’t see where. It’s not bloated with competent defenders. It’s barely adequately covered in midfield and it’s most certainly not bloated with top class strikers.

  3. Getting lawyered-up was the only positive way forward with the sfa.

What is going on with the James Dornan proposal?

I haven’t seen anything about that since it’s initial flurry.

  4. It is nothing short of farcical that the game could be WORSE OFF after the introduction of VAR than beforehand, am I surprised …?? not one jot, tells you everything about this joke of a governing body. The S.F.A are well past their winding up date, just like the Oldco Rangers F.C…..
Going once for a pound… Twice for a pound… No takers.???
