Astonished FC are accustomed to getting what they want

So, it is statement o’clock again at Ibrox. “Firstly, Rangers condemns in the strongest terms any abuse of match officials. We are all passionate about our game, but targeted, personal abuse of referees cannot be tolerated.

“The club can confirm the Scottish FA has responded with regards to the disallowed Alfredo Morelos goal, with the response claiming the correct decision was taken. The club is astonished by this, especially given most observers, including former referees and former players, could see no issue with the goal standing.

“This comes following a weekend in England where PGMOL have offered an apology to Brighton and Hove Albion for the non-award of a penalty in their match with Tottenham Hotspur, alongside a pledge to review the incident.

“While an apology does not alter the outcome of a match, such responsibility and openness would be welcome in Scotland.”

What is remarkable about this spat is that a club that is yet to have a penalty awarded against it in the league this season are outraged when a decision appears to go against them.

It is almost as if such an occurrence is not meant to happen.

  1. The rage through those angry, entitled red white and blue glasses really has no boundaries does it.

We think you cost us a goal because (ignoring the fact Morelos DID push Johnston) commentators and former referees said they didn’t think it should have been!

Slam the fists down on the table, you cost us a goal – we don’t want to talk about the penalty you didn’t give against us for a foul on Oh, nor the red card elbow attack from Davies on Kyogo you didn’t even give a foul for, nor the tackle from behind the hen Morelos sent Mooy flying and you booked Mooy for after, nor the 3 counter attacks you saved us from by pulling the ball back, etc etc

The referee was within his rights to call those as he saw them – just not the disallowed goal…

  2. The loss of Champions League money is, IMHO, why they are so angry.

If they dont qualify for it via the back door, they will struggle financially, 9 months, 21 months from now, who knows, the world of finance is changing rapidly and being in a lot of debt is not a good place to be right now.

Someone said yesterday, Celtic have 60 million in the bank, so should be earning circa 4% interestm that’s £2.4M per year.

The debt junkies that are Sevco, must be paying 5-10% on any debt they have secured, that there is at probably a £3M+ difference even before any monies are earned !!!

  3. Leadership must be calm and sagacious. They need an orange-pound billionaire. When the Craig Whyte £1 drops that VAR can be controlled from any place or referee jurisdiction, they will want to “abandon it.” Scottish football and Celtic must prevail.

The 2012 KKKulture Klan vacillates between bargaining, anger, and depression since 2012, their superiority complex is now being challenged more than ever in society. The 2008-10 financial tsunami didn’t really hit until Malmo injury time. US Banks dumping £100B in mortgage bonds yesterday is the type of thing that won’t squeeze just yet and it’s just the start. The demise might not show up until 2025 injury time and Celtic will need Champions league monies for 2 or 3 consecutive seasons to expediate the process.

Due to the inbound recession and high cost of capital, unsustainable models will fail. Especially those who cannot borrow. Bennet’s life funds and paranoia can only go so far. Celtic currently have a £20m Iin built, advantage each season; Rangers2 have a referee one. Focus on ourselves, keep Ange, and refresh the squad when he says so and top dollar for anyone with designs on leaving.

    In Ange we trust.

  4. Might be first time the Klan have become unhinged about a Scottish referees faith. They’ve never been overly concerned about the background of our match officials before. It’s pretty evident as to why.

  5. The Rangers response should be of no surprise to anyone.
Perhaps it’s well worth turning the spotlight on how one team in the league can play 31 games, that’s 2,790 minutes of football, and yet not manage to have a single penalty awarded against them?
    That’s a helluva stat!

  6. You have to laugh at that statement
It was the club that decided to contact the SFA in the first place regards the decision not to give the goal
It had the desired effect and the lunatic element of their fan base of which there are many took it upon themselves to send what could now be described as criminal and threatening emails and phone calls to the match official Mr Clancy
It is the club which should be held accountable too
As if they had took defeat gracefully this would not have happened
But sadly losing gracefully is not in their DNA
    Constant anger is

  7. That’s a dreadful statement. And only fuels the sort of thing they’re claiming to condemn. I don’t see how they can have expected any other response from the sfa, because the foul by Morelos was clear as day. When I read and hear the people claiming it was a perfly good goal I honestly wonder if I’m in the twilight zone because I see a foul every time.

  8. Clancy had the aduacicity to call that decision rightfully against them. No other ref has had the bottle to do so because they feared the backlash it would create and we are all witnessing there outrage now. I won’t even bother going on about penalties or defenders saving the ball as if they were the goalie. Absolutely disgusting behaviour to threaten the man and his family but realistically he actually has only his other colleagues to blame for the fact that unlike them he made the call.

  9. Unbelievable that The Rangers have condemned this mindless act as they may get into trouble for it but still have not condemned or apologised for the Fran Alonso attack.

  10. A slight alteration but more accurate version of the club statement:
“The club is astonished by this, especially given as most observers, including (specially selected) former players and (specially selected) former referees, could see no issue with the goal standing.”
