Narratives at the ready for the final whistle

Regardless of the result at Hampden tomorrow,  the chaps in the Blue Room can be confident that the coverage will assist them.

Of course, the preferred option for them and the Stenography Corps is a Sevco victory.

Then it will be weeks and weeks of unrelenting gushing pish about the genius of Mr Beale.

However, if Calum McGregor lifts the trophy again, then it will be necessary to re-calibrate the narrative.

Consequently, the stories will be all about the summer rebuild at Sevco.

This might be an early example of it.

Of course,  a cynic might suggest that pointing the Ibrox klanbase to that distant point on the horizon is all about season ticket renewal.

I, of course, couldn’t possibly comment.

It is probably unkind to point out that Sevco’s city neighbours have more season ticket holders than there are seats in the stadium that John Brown played for.

That is the financial shortfall that the brethren in the Blue Room have had to deal with since Fergus McCann had the vision and business acumen to see his plans quite literally become concrete.

The first decade of the new Parkhead saw the original Rangers use EBTs and those pesky side letters in order to compete.

In this century, the trophy haul between Celtic and both Ibrox clubs has underlined what Fergus McCann achieved after saving the club from going into receivership at the 11th hour and fifty-second minute in 1994.

Regardless of what happens at Hampden tomorrow, the resource landscape in Glasgow does not change.

Moreover, the succulent ones in the Stenography Corps probably understand that in their own limited way.

  1. That’s Rangers left with the Scottish Cup to save their season and with it Beale’s job.
I doubt if Micky will still be in the Ibrox hotseat if he fails to land a trophy and with it prevent another Celtic treble.

    • Yeah, the Blue Bear Co’s preview states the following:

“Celtic and Rangers meet in a showpiece final for the first time since December 2019 when the Glasgow rivals battle for the Viaplay Cup at Hampden on Sunday.

That day four years ago, Celtic had a man sent off and scored the only goal from their only shot on target – from an offside position – on their way to a fourth treble in a row.”

The only definitive thing you can say about the goal was that it was onside, as the officials are the determining factor and they adjudged it so.

Sure, you can speculate, that if VAR was in effect, it may have been ruled out but that’s all it is, meaningless speculation after the event (compare with their avoidance of current controversies that benefit the blue meanies).

There’s no name on it but just like a Tavpen, I doubt that bookies would quote odds on it being by a Sevco Sanitation Slurper.

I haven’t read their 2011 piece but doubt if it mentions a soon to be dead financially doped franchise.

  3. Don’t rule out Penalty F C official fans looking after them. As far as I can see they can do what they want and no one challenges them
